I have suffered from low back pain and joint discomfort - as a result of an auto-immune disorder - for close to 10 years. I have done virtually every type of training known to mankind. From P90X and Insanity to Crossfit. Each of them bearing there own individual benefits - except for Crossfit which I would not recommend to anyone; especially someone who suffers from knee or low back issues. At any rate, at 41 years old I had all but given up on being able to find a program that would not only kick my ass and be something that I would be able to stick with WANT to stick with. I've been lifting weights - incorrectly - since I was a teenage kid in high school. As a result of this, I have learned very bad behaviors when it comes to proper training. I have also spent years focusing on how big my chest or arms were. While I've always worked on my abs, I've never "truly" focused on my core and stability. I had spoken with several doctors who actually suggested corrective exercise programs to help compensate for my weak areas with the goal of strengthening my core which would result in lessening my low back pain. I then began an internet search for programs I might be able to find in the Tri-Cities. This is how I came to meet ProForce. I set-up a call to speak with Chris and went on to explain my history and what I was trying to accomplish. He suggested I come in and speak a bit further with a trainer and do a trial program of 3D fitness - which I had already researched and expressed an interest in. I came in, sat down with a trainer who was an active listener in our discussion. He took the time to get to know me AND my body in addition to my fitness goals. I had been through this before though or so I had thought. You tell someone about your injuries and your goals, they take some notes and then you fall into a group setting and get lost in the shuffle. Well, I am here to tell you that this ain't how ProForce operates! I was closely monitored during my trial session. Right away, I knew I was on to something. Fast forward to today, the staff still knows my weak areas and is very cognizant of them throughout the work out. Ensuring that I don't get hurt, further aggravate an existing injury, but also provide me with options to work around injuries/areas of discomfort so I can still come in and stay active. ProForce staff are insanely particular about form - it is the absolute foundation of everything ProForce is about. Chris and Chris (that's right, two Chris') will not hesitate to stop, call you out and/or slow things down if form is off. This is important to me because I have been doing things improperly for so many years that I am having to unlearn bad habits and work on creating new good ones. And, I am doing just that...getting stronger each week, getting better each week. Feeling that much better each week. AND, my low back pain is all but gone thanks to all the core and stability training I have worked on. Additionally, I've been able to open up my frozen hips, lower my depth of squats, become more flexible, learn proper breathing, and of course increase my strength and stamina. This has helped me tremendously in my day-to-day activities especially with having small children. I was to the point where I could hardly get down on the floor to play with them. This training is great if you want to look good, lose weight for sure, but it's also great for maintaining the proper posture, form and breathing to get through the mundane activities we all face on a day to day basis. My anxiety has decreased, my energy has increased, my mind is sharper and yeah, my pants are looser and I am digging the changes I am witnessing in the mirror. Additionally, ProForce is a community unlike no other. Chris and his staff truly care about you. They don't treat you like you are a "member" of a gym. They're always happy to impart what they know and have learned to ensure you're set up for success. All day, every day! And for those who think they're already in great shape and/or have the perfect form. Think again! There's a place at ProForce for you too! I challenge you, actually I welcome you, to come join the ProForce family. You will get your ass kicked! 100% guaranteed! But, you will get better each day. When I first heard Chris say "you have to respect the process for progress" I quickly took it as a catchy "fitness world" cliche'. Man was I wrong! This has absolutely been, and will always be, a process! And, you have to respect it. I had to take a step back and go to 3D kickstart for awhile, because what I thought I was ready for I quickly found I was not. Chris and his staff instill the importance of this being a lifestyle, a way of life.I encourage anyone interested in transforming their lives and becoming part of a very special and elite organization to just come in for a trial workout. Talk with Chris and his staff. Make the decision that today is the day you're going to get better. Look forward to meeting you soon! read more
