I used their service for a pre-purchase inspection of a car 3000 miles from me. They inspected the car and a timely manner. I got a fairly detailed report, including photos. I decided to purchase the car and have it shipped to me. When it arrived there was an obvious problem with the interior that was not noted in the report. I called and spoke to the new manager, Miguel. He kindly listened to my complaint, looked at photos that I sent him, informed me that the technician who inspected my car had been let go and made the situation right. He seems genuinely interested in growing his business with positive customer relations. If I had to do this again I would call Miguel. read more

I am a first time car buyer and had booked a pre-puchase inspection from Proficient Auto Mobile mechanics for a used (150k) Mazda6 2017 that I was planning to purchase. I had done extensive prior research on the known issues with the car so before the inspection, I had asked the mechanic Mike if they needed to know about specific things to check with the car such as for known TSB issues associated with this particular model. He shrugged it off saying they perform their own set of tests for the PPI. After the purchase, I soon realized the touch screen on the infotainment screen does not work due to delamination and none of the manufacturer recommended troubleshooting steps helped. Had to spend $200 to replace the entire screen since I wanted to upgrade the software. A month later, I notice the AC not cooling as soon as the weather got warmer (PPI done in mid-January). I called Proficient auto and they said ac was working when they checked (when weather was already very cold). I had to diagnose it myself and ultimately pinpointed it to low refrigerant in the AC unit. I took it to a local shop who charged $200 (almost same price as inspection) to do a recharge and leak test. The shop said it was as if I had almost no refrigerant left in the car. AC blew very cold after the service, however a few days later I start to hear a whirring noise coming whenever I turn on the AC and press accelerate (even in park). I had to get it diagnosed again and it turned out to be a known technical service bulletin (TSB 01-008-23) with this model where the belt tensioner is known to leak oil. Upon matching images in the TSB with my car, I found it be an exact same match for the issue and have to spend another $400 to replace the tensioner with a new one. Finallty, one of the tail light has already started falling off and I don't know how much I will have to spend on fixing that one. I generally don't write negative reviews but all this happened within 2 months of me getting the car and each diagnosis was very simple and visual only which would take any experienced mechanic less than 5 minutes and some extra equipment such as pressure gauges for the ac. I understand pre-purchase inspections can never reveal everything that's wrong with the car but these were especially simple checks which I could have leveraged to re-negotiate the price of the car with the seller. They even failed to mention that the tint levels on the car windows were illegal and I got pulled over for it once and had to get it removed myself! The amount of headache that I got with this purchase does not warrant paying around $200 for the PPI. I do not recommend anyone to go here for a PPI especially for a used car which is older since their inspections are not thorough. read more

I was helping my oldest kid look for a reliable all-wheel drive vehicle before she was headed off to college in the mountains of western NC. We live an hour and half from Raleigh and contacted Proficient Auto Mobile Mechanics to inquire about a pre-purchase inspection for a car we were considering in the Raleigh area. The whole experience was painless, and the communication was great (from start to finish). Mike, the mechanic/technician thoroughly checked on the vehicle and did an incredible job leading my family in the right direction. We felt secure in our driving the distance to purchase the vehicle. I highly recommend the team at Proficient Auto Mobile Mechanics. read more

Owner inspected Tundra truck i was looking at. Told me many problems with truck and would not recomend buying. Dealer acted like truck was great. The pictures i got from inspection did not show what dealer showed. I will not buy truck and dealer banned inspection company from inspecting at their dealership. Please if you need honest inspection use this company. read more

The technician, Tim, was quite knowledgeable and experienced, I was impressed. Good job guys, I recommend them without hesitation!

I am so happy to have found Proficient Auto! Tim was great: professional, knowledgeable and accommodating. Robert was very transparent with the charges and great with communication. I could not be more satisfied. I will definitely use them from now on. Highly recommended!! Thank you! read more

I had an electrical problem with my car for over two years. I took it to the dealer and several other mechanics. They all charged me for lengthy repairs and a new battery, but the problem never went away. When I called proficient they spent 15 minutes fixing the problem and only charged me the diagnostic fee. The problem never returned again! read more

I paid $130 for a pre-purchase inspection that saved me $700 during price negotiation. The math is good. I wish every purchase of mine had an ROI like that. read more

I called on this mobile mechanic to do a pre-purchase inspection since the owner no longer had license plate on the car. Tim did a thorough inspection and noted 3 issues: battery needed to be replaced, power steering fluid was low, and brakes were at 30%. I paid with cc over the phone (around $100) and they emailed me the receipt. The whole process went very smoothly. I look forward to using them again! read more

I contacted this group in need of help with my car. they were nice and at least came out and told me what it is. Thats not where i have my issues with them. My issue was when we agreed on a price and he said theyd call me the next day to set up the appoiment... Never heard from them again. they were nice to waive the diagnostic fee and we agreed on price but never heard back then i had to find out from another that if the job is complicated they wont do it.. i wish they had just told me you know what? we cant do it sorry. read more

I have used Proficient Auto Mobile Repair several times over the past year for both my and my girlfriend's vehicle repairs. They are honest, fair priced, and do quality work. It is also very convenient that they come out to your home to complete the repairs. I even received calls from the owner personally to make sure I was well taken care of and satisfied with the work. I highly recommend them! read more

So within a few days of moving from NY, my car breaks. I know no one, and am forced to go based on online reviews. Great. Let me begin by saying first off, the car tech comes to you and if they can fix it there, they will. No tow fee back to the garage if it's not needed. Something new to me, but works out great. Robert was so super professional and accommodating I can't even begin. Saved me money on the tow, fixed my car right where it broke, Scott the technician was very well informed and knew exactly what he was doing. At no point did I question ability or fees. I have no need to look anywhere else for my automotive needs. Don't bother shopping around, these guys are really great. read more

I have been a customer of Proficient Auto Mobile Mechanics in the past and immediately thought of them when my nephew needed servicing of his car. Tim has done a PHENOMENAL job on my nephew's car. We couldn't figure out what the problem has been with that car for some time. Tim came in exemplifying high quality professionalism, ran the proper diagnostic and executed the proper work in fixing this vehicle. We are very pleased with his work and the performance of the car. Thank you so much Tim and thank you Proficient Auto Mobile Mechanics for never letting me down. read more

Proficent Auto showed up on time, serviced my Mercedes in my driveway, while my kids played in the pool and I worked on the laptop. What a great way to handle your car -- no more trips to the dealer. I'd recommend them for sure. read more

Deplorable "customer service." These positive reviews have got to be fake. I was told I would need to pay $65 for their diagnostic service before anything could be done. This "service" consisted of some guy in a pickup truck driving my car, literally, around the block before flicking cigarette butts in my yard and telling me what I already told him. I was told that the $65 diagnostic fee would go towards the work, however they never answered the phone or returned my calls to schedule. I still have not spoken to them. If zero stars were possible... read more

My son has a 1999 cadillac that is on its last leg. He tried to replace the fuel pump but.... it got complicated! We didn't want to spend a fortune on this repair. He told the mechanic that he wanted to save money as much as possible. The mechanic got the car running again. He left the "buttoning up" of the engine to my son in order to save money.... The charge was about $100 because he was credited the $65 diagnostic fee. How refreshing to work with a company that is so responsive!! read more

In a jam..my car wouldn't start and I don't have enough miles with Roadside services to take it to the Chevrolet dealers. Tim came out and replaced my starter quick and efficiently. He explained everything to me like I knew what he was talking about lol! Hoping this works. I will be calling for you brakes soon. read more

Proficient Auto showed up on time and completed an oil change and brake pad replacement on my Audi Q5 and I could not be happier! So much better than arranging an appointment in a shop and what a time AND money saver! The mechanic also showed me several features I never knew I had on the car! The A/C had been broken on my Ford 500 for a while and just never got around to fixing it. Finally reached out to a few places for quotes to get it fixed since I needed to take a long road trip and there was no way I was doing it without air conditioning. Not only do they come out to you, but they were by FAR the best quote around. Might be because I'm a woman or other places were just lazy, but another place quoted $1K MORE than this place. Easy to book an appointment through Erik who was really professional and friendly. Bonus - if you can't reach via phone, they can text you. The mechanic, Scott showed up a few minutes early and was also completely professional and friendly. No grumbling even though it was HOT out. Got the job done in a few hours and am totally happy with the level of service provided. Definitely recommend this company. read more

Our Xterra had some sudden electrical problems, and we called Proficient for some support. Chris came out to our home in the afternoon and diagnosed an alternator issue, and noted some problems with the electrical system. We purchased the part at CarQuest, and the next day, he came out and replaced it, patiently explaining the problems he saw, and what we should do to fix them. Later that evening, the vehicle acted up again, and Chris met us out in nasty weather to resolve the issue, which turned out to be fairly complex; his amiable demeanor, expertise, responsiveness and work ethic turned what would have been a painful experience with a shop and AAA into a shining example of great service and good business. This is the second time we've called Proficient, and we won't bother with anyone else. Cheap at twice the price. read more

Admittedly I was a tad hesitant about trying the mobile approach when my car needed repairs a month or so ago. I got fast service as well, most businesses would be prudent to provide and I saved money over a previous quote I had received even at a meineke. I got my car fixed in my own driveway from a credible mechanic from the company and was on my way later on in the afternoon. I'd recommend this read more

Terrible service. I will never attempt to use again. We told them what the problem was, and explained how to fix it. They had the keys in their possession for over a week before work really began. After work began, the mechanic wanted to replace the entire low pressure power steering line. We explained that this was not necessary and that all he had to do was cut the rusted portion of line out and clamp a hose on both ends. They insisted that this would not work (it does work, I've done it myself many times on cars of mine...not a permanent long term solution, but it will hold for a few years). Anyways, I let them know that if they weren't comfortable doing that then that's OK we will find another mechanic. End result? Mechanic left parts all over the ground in my apartment complex parking garage, the actual power steering line was half taken apart and just lying under the car on the ground. When we went to work on it to actually resolve the problem we had to first put back together the half taken apart work from the mechanic, and had no idea where several screws were. Additionally, they charged us for the approx. 1-2 hours of labor that they spent taking apart my car. So, we got charged $150-200 for the mechanic to half take apart our car and leave it that way. On top of that, the scheduling and customer service was very poor. They had the keys in their possession for a couple of weeks total. Thankfully this was a second car and not a primary. Nice guys, but terrible customer service, poor car knowledge, and an all-around poor business experience. read more

I wish I could write a good review about this business; however, I was throughly disappointed. I was very excited to learn that they would come to my residence and diagnose my car! The guy got to my residence, plugged his diagnostic tool into my car and basically said "yeah I think it's best you take this to the dealership and have them tell you what it needs, I'm just not sure" -____- AND THEY STILL CHARGED ME FOR THIS! Waste of money. read more

What a joke of a company this is! They give you horrible service. They never have the same employees. The owner says that he is an honest man, and treats everyone right, but this is far from the truth. I will never use them again! read more

I am sooooo glad I found Proficient Auto. I was hesitant because i figured they would be expensive, due to the fact that they were coming to my home and doing the work. I had an idea what was going on and prayed it would be a simple fix. But you know how that goes, nothing ever cheap when it comes to cars. I called the office and was explained how they charged for the diagnostic visit, and how if they did the work a portion of that would be applied. I felt it was reasonable. They gave me a time frame to expect Clarence in. Sure enough he arrived in a timely manner. I explained what I was experiencing. Clarence took one look and knew what needed to be done. He even located the nuts and bolts the had loosened and flew up on the ledge where the wipers are attached. Clarence went straight to work and put things back together all the while explaining things while he works. He was extremely pleasant. When I received the news on cost, it blew me away. They came to my house, diagnosed the problem, did the repair, even cashed me out. All without me even having to leave the house. Will be using them when ever I need a mechanic. Thank you Proficient Auto and Clarence. read more

I'm not one to write reviews, good or bad (too damn lazy) but I'm going to make an exception in this case. I have to say (shout) just how pleased I was with the performance, professionalism, personality, punctuality, and price of the guys at Proficient Auto. They came to my workplace less than two hours after I made my initial inquiry and assessed, addressed, and fixed my problem for the $75.00 diagnostic fee. To say I am a satisfied customer would be a huge understatement. Finding an honest auto-mechanic can often be a long, arduous process; well I'm new to the area and am just thrilled that I won't have to shop around next time I need some work done on my car. These guys have earned my business. read more

used for several jobs, never had an issue. as a vehicle owner i believe it is my responsibility to know what the problem is, and then decide if it's worth my time to fix it myself or pay someone else. some of the negative comments seem to relate to this, vehicle ownership is always a bad investment and provide a return at a loss. by learning a bit about vehicle maintenance and repair, you can mitigate some of the loss. read more

My alternator went out and since my car was at my house, I was going to have to get it towed in order for anyone to work on it. A friend suggested that I try a mobile mechanic. I had never heard of this before, but I googled it and found Proficient Auto Mobile Mechanics. I gave them a call and they came out to my house the next day and replaced my alternator. I definitely saved money by not having to pay for a tow truck plus it cost less than the estimate I had gotten from another local mechanic. read more

I had a great experience with proficient auto. Tim came to where my car was broken down and got it running in no time!

These boys are worse than dodgy they lie and never come back. They took my entire tax refund check $700. Robert swore to fix my car."No matter what we will get it fixed." Per Robert. Its been sitting 3 years now. It was overheating. Whatever he did made it WORSE. They owe me a new engine on a 2001 sports car. The mechanics they send act like they are either on crack or meth. Look at it dumbfounded and claim they'll be back. Then it's excuse after excuse. They do NOTHING but still want $65 cash. After cheating me out if another $65. I demanded that back. ROBERT said he would return it. Never brought it or would give me an address. He had been to my apt. Several times so was able to drop it off in his BMW but chose to be a thief. Now I see they are in Cary & advertising @ the State Fair so I had to speak up. I have never had a worse business experience as this one. I am thinking of suing them & I am not that type and never have done it in the past. Good reviews are all false. If you love your car, Do NOT let these schisters near your vehicle.
