I may be the only Jewish person to have ever been here, what a delight. July - 96 degrees, feels like 109. Until you get here.. opens at 5pm.. arrived with a smile and by myself I have been baptized and converted to proffits religion. I am a profiteer now. THE CAM. THE GUMBO. THE RED BEANS & RICE CINDY THE SERVER I SEE YOU GIRL! INCREDIBLE SERVICE! Coursed out the meal for me. What a treat. My wife is about to receive a better man now leaving this place THEN THE DESSERT!!! The chocolate chest pie!! GET OFF OF ME YOU ARE ON FIRE. It may be one of the best things I've ever had.. simple but so rich and decadent read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm very much the minority with my opinion. I have had work colleagues and family members absolutely LOVE This place. It's just not my cup of tea. Everyone who works here is absolutely lovely, attentive and helpful. The space itself is very unique, which I also love. The food on the other hand, not my preference. I've tried so many things over time and nothing really stood out to me. I've had the warm seafood pita, growing up on the gulf, we didn't eat imitation seafood. I eat kani when I eat sushi, but that's about it. So I was a little turned off by the fake crab in my sandwich. I also had their philly, it's not really what you'd expect for such a sandwich. Again, knowing where I can get a really great one, this wouldn't be my first choice. The prices are super reasonable though. read more

Friendly service and great ambiance, especially on the porch. Never had a bad sandwich there and sides are delicious.

Food was as advertised. Quality and freshly made. The bread was outstanding. The red beans and rice was good . I shout have got the plate instead of the cup. The The roast beef sandwich was great. A hidden gem in Columbus . read more

Great food, reasonable prices in a very laid back " fish camp style" eatery out in the boon docks

Was solo on a Saturday night and wanted to go someplace where I didn't feel weird dining alone on a weekend evening, and maybe read a book while I ate. Proffitt's Porch was absolutely perfect. It was a grey, rainy evening, and there were only a few other people eating outside (the deck is covered, so you can easily eat outside when it rains). With the soft gentle rain, the still water in the adjacent lake, frogs chirpring, and brids singing in the surrounding woods as the sun set and darkenss crept in, it was HEAVEN. I ended up not even reading my book -- I just sat back, relaxed, listened to the frogs, and gazed at the water & woods. I ordered a sandwich and a beer, both of which hit the spot. Service was friendly and I wasn't rushed. read more

Haven't eaten here in probably over 20 years but it was just like I remembered. The family and I enjoyed a very good lunch. Choices made included smoked turkey, steak and cheese and BLT sandwiches. A cup of taco soup and a cup of red beans and rice were added. Fresh salads. The homemade ranch dressing is very good. All of the food was delicious. Wonderful friendly service provided by Leevie. Great local restaurant recommendation. read more

Best French Dip sandwich in the State. Hidden gem with great service. Been in business for at least 40 years.

The food and atmosphere were outstanding! The owner made sure we were seated outside.

We have been eating here for over 30 years and it's just as good as the first time we came, only then, we could swim in the lake to the floating dock! Sit on the covered deck and watch the 100s of hummingbirds, while sipping on their sweet tea. The red beans are simply a must! It's one of the best and most traditional styled red beans and rice dishes you'll find in this area. I always order the Cam. Named after the son, it's reminiscent of a muffuletta and pairs well with the red beans. My wife usually gets the chef salad and plenty of Comeback Sauce for dressing. Truly a Southern delicacy, the Comeback Sauce is a must try. If you've got a hankering for something sweet, you must try the chess pie, baked in-house. Absolutely divine! read more

A favorite place. Great food and service and a beautiful location. There are stairs but they will bring you order to your car. Weather permitting, eat on the patio amid the Hummingbirds. Might even get to see the Eagles that nest nearby. read more

The food is great! It's fun sitting outside on the patio. The staff was super sweet! It's definitely a great afternoon lunch spot.

Classic down-home (very) relaxed comfort. Friendly service. Good prices. I had some authentic (and great tasting) gumbo with a cold beer. I'll definitely go back to try some other dishes. read more

I can't tell you the first time I went to Proffitt's Porch, but rest assured it was AT LEAST 30 years ago. And I always stop by whenever I'm in the local are and it NEVER disappoints! I love the fact that this is down a long and windy road, away from the city noises and off the beaten path on a beautiful little pond in the woods. It even has a beach are and volleyball court set up, so don't be surprised if you stop by and see people just hanging out on a beautiful day! My #1 go m-to is their Smoked Turkey Sandwich with all the fixins. Nothing pretentious about the food, just absolute perfection! Sandwiches are served with a bag of chips in a red-plastic basket. Man I love this place. You NEED to stop by...then you can thank me later! read more

Awesome food great service great atmosphere love this place always have loved five stars for sure

I absolutely love this spot. I take parents here every time they come into town to visit. My mom goes crazy for their gumbo&garlic toast. I always get a sandwich-- it reminds me of my favorite po boy shop in NOLA (where I resided before I moved to Columbus). I also love that it's just outside of town tucked away. It's quiet and peaceful. Great place to get a pitcher, eat an incredible sandwich, and hang out with your friends. Love the feel, love the food, and the service is always good as well. Also-- get the dessert. You WONT regret it. read more

Campbell was super friendly on the phone when I placed my to go order, but driving to their restaurant was daunting to the say the least. My first time in Mississippi, so I was petrified driving down an unlit, highly forested area with a lake on either side of the road in super dark and rainy weather. It seemed to me that I was driving through the scene of my own horror film, but I really wanted that salad so.. Since it was very late, raining and there were no patrons inside, I parked at the base of their stairs and ran up the steps (mostly because I was surrounded by dark forest and what looked to be an abandoned mobile home) as quickly as I could. Once I got inside and spoke with Campbell my fears subsided. He was friendly and warned me to watch out for deer on my way back. I would still recommend folks to visit during daylight hours though haha The seafood salad had plenty of imitation crab and shrimp- wasn't able to finish it in one sitting. I liked the dressing that came with it, something like a thousand island. A decent salad that will fill you up. I was more so impressed with the red beans and rice. The flavors were nearly perfect, not too bold and they maintained the flavor and juiciness of the sausage. The beans weren't hard nor overcooked and it's clear they perfected the beans and rice. read more

I've eaten here several times, usually on special occasions. This place is certainly a little off the beaten path. The food here is great, but the past part about Profitt's is the outdoorsy atmosphere of the place. read more

Food was Okay seafood sandwich was kind of a blah! My son had a BACON sandwich which also was boring I tasted but and it was also boing. All sandwiches come with chips again boring. The sweet tea, however was phenomenal. The waitress was nice and efficient and the porch is kind of a cool setting other than that not worth the drive. read more

Decent sandwiches, the outdoor patio is nice. Kind of out of the way but worth the trip.

Great location out in the woods. Very laid back and scenic. Food was great! Worth the drive off the beaten path.

It's right on the Tombigbee River. Close to the back entrance of the Columbus AFB. Draft beer in icy mugs are a draw. As are the lakeside kegs on ice and sand volleyball in the summer months. The porch is the place to sit but inside has A/C. Seafood roll, beans and rice were winners. Dogs ok. Super nice staff. read more
