Servers were so kind and patient with our tables it was quite impressive. All plates came out at the same time which was quite impressive. Every one said their dishes were tasty, and several had enough left over to ask for takeout boxes, which I'm sure they will make another meal of. I was surprised when I got the bill and ask the server if she had missed something. I was expecting a much larger bill. Service was far and above, server told me tip had already been added. I doubled the tip and they shared a of the delicious birthday cake with us. I'll be going back to the Grill.

While driving through Mississippi to Starkville on business today, I spotted the well known…read moreestablishment TASTE along the way and decided it was the perfect moment for a proper luncheon. After parking with total ease outside, I stepped into a wonderfully inviting atmosphere that impressed me immediately. The decor is executed with great style, featuring a charming bar area alongside sophisticated, private dining tables. I opted to be seated at a lovely private table for a quiet, serene meal. The service was an absolute delight attentive, gracious, and utterly professional. My server, a delightful young woman named Sarah, took wonderful care of me and noted their quite impressive wine selection. To begin, I ordered an Espresso Martini, which was mixed to sheer perfection a delightful boost and more than enough to set a splendid tone for a Sunday afternoon. For my main course, I selected the Shrimp Gamberetti. The dish was a complete triumph, remarkably generous with high quality shrimp, beautifully seasoned, and served piping hot. From the stunning decor and pristine ambiance to the exceptional cuisine and flawless service from Sarah, this visit was worth every moment. Full marks I shall most certainly return whenever business brings me back through the area!

We came here after graduation with our extended family for a late lunch, early dinner since Taste…read moreis one of my daughter's favorite places in Starkville. A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.

The food itself is just okay, and it often arrives at the table almost before you've even settled into your seat, which can feel more rushed than efficient. Overall, it's fine for a quick bite, but it may not live up to its reputation.

Ordering was challenging as a result, and our server had to keep coming back to tell us, "Oh, we're out of that too." Took forever to get our food despite our server's best efforts (she was great -- going as fast as she could, and very apologetic -- this would be a 2-star review if not for her). My meal was OK, but it seemed like others barely touched their food in my party of 7. Disappointing.

Our server knew the menu inside out and struck that perfect balance of attentive without hovering, especially after we told him we wanted to take our time. Cocktails were spot‑on, and the barbecue fried okra was a fun twist -- crispy, well‑seasoned, and dusted with barbecue‑chip magic. I went for the lamb ragu with local sweet potato gnocchi. Very good, though the sweet potato flavor was subtler than expected. My husband's burger, on the other hand, was a full‑on showstopper. The bacon jam and pimento cheese turned it into a glorious, oozy mess. Fries got high marks too. We grabbed a slice of carrot cake to go -- dense, moist, studded with toasted pecans -- and it was the perfect ending.

Promising menu in an aesthetic establishment, but unfortunately Restaurant Tyler was understaffed…read moreand overwhelmed. We visited Restaurant Tyler over the Mississippi State vs Missouri game day weekend on a Friday night around 7pm. We tried several times to make a reservation online, even days before, and finally called to reserve a spot over the phone, but we were told they do not make reservations on game day weekends. With that in mind, we anticipated a wait but expected the restaurant to be prepared accordingly. That assumption was incorrect. When we arrived, there were several tables on the patio and throughout the building spread with dirty dishes and in need of cleaning - they were in dire need of a busboy. The hostess was very kind and working extremely hard to get people seated, she cleared a table for us near the front bar area and we were seated within probably 10 minutes of arrival which was not bad. From there however, we sat for at least 15-20 more minutes at our table and were never greeted by any server or even offered water. We eventually decided to leave as it was clear that we wouldn't be receiving any service anytime soon. I do not fault the wait staff in this, they were obviously very overwhelmed and understaffed, but it is disappointing that management did not better prepare for what should have been expected to be a busy weekend. Allowing reservations during a highly anticipated weekend only makes sense, even if only a limited number of reservations so that walk-ins can still be accepted. We were really looking forward to trying this spot out and were disappointed by our experience.

First off, it's counter service, which isn't abnormal but given the size of this spot, It was surprising. It felt like McAllister's or Newk's in that way. They have beer, huge plus. But here's the kicker, it's Cajun/Creole style cuisine, so they have all of the goods. Red beans, Po-Boys, etc. But you can also get chicken tenders, fried catfish, etc. Man, I loved ALL of it! I didn't live in Starkvegas, so it could be a bit of a hike and when Amber was around, we didn't really eat a lot of food like this either. That said, I'd be here at least monthly if I had lived closer.

Excellent spot to get traditional items that can be hard to find, such as chitlins, turkey necks, pork necks, and other home-cookin' staples. Pro tip: get there right when they open.
