Everytime I go to Huck's I am overly impressed! The food is exquisite. I got the shrimp and grits and it was awesome. One of the best shrimp and grits I have eaten, next to the one from Flavor Rich in Suwanee, GA. I grew up in Brooksville, MS, and I go there about 3 times a year. Huck's is a restaurant I genuinely enjoy. The pork chops and steaks are excellent, and I've had some really good meals there. My only complaint with the food is that the sauces can be a little overwhelming for my taste, so I usually request them on the side. I've always loved the majority of the staff and have had great experiences with them. Unfortunately, my experience at the bar last night was very different. I sat at the bar, ordered a water, and was given a menu. About 15 minutes later, the bartender asked if I wanted something else to drink, but never asked if I wanted to order food. A gentleman sat down to my left after I had already been there for quite a while. I watched him order a cocktail, order his food, eat his entire meal, and still hadn't been asked if I wanted anything to eat. I'm not one to complain, but that level of inattentiveness was hard to overlook. I'll definitely continue to give Huck's a chance because I enjoy the food and most of the staff, but I hope the bar service was just an off night. read more

Huck's Place is good. I would say it's a solid 3.5 stars for what WE tried. There very well could be a lot of great options as the menu def has a little something for everyone. Service was swift and prompt. The vibe in the place is like elevated sports bar. I enjoyed the decor, TVs and lighting. For the food: Red Beans and Rice - 4 out 5. Star of the show. Great flavor, very well seasoned. Wish I had bowl instead of a cup. Gumbo - 2.5 out of 5. Seemed heavy on file. The color was right, but it felt lighter than I'm used to. Lacked some flavor, but salt made it more floral. Caesar - 3 out of 5. Fairly pedestrian. Nothing outstanding. Dressing a little too sweet, mayo-ey. Ribeye - 3.5 out of 5. May not be a popular opinion, but it loses all the flavor marks for me cause of that "jus" they put on it. WAY to sweet. Distracts from an otherwise awesome cut of beef. Medium Rare was cooked perfectly though and pieces without the sweet sauce were tender and delicious. Special review: Loved the fries. Sucker for that almost battered taste. Hucks owner/manager very rude threatening me twice for parking in the public alleyway behind Hucks that he completely blocks so I can't get out that way. Food pretty good but manager very unprofessional I've heard from multiple sources as well of him getting mad at customers because they either don't like his food or it was cooked wrong. My new favorite place in Columbus. Have been wanting to try Huck's for years and finally got a chance. We had an excellent dinner. The service was great and the food was excellent. For a place that advertises "Voted Best Steak in Mississippi " We, of course, had to get steak. Now this is not your $90 prime steak place. Just normal tender, juicy beef cooked perfectly and finished with an au jus they call "wash". Outstanding. Special mention for the turnip greens. I love me some greens and these were unlike anything I'd ever had. Highly seasoned and a bit spicy with chunks of sausage. Spectacular. Highly recommended. read more

Had the most amazing dinner at Huck's while in town. I've never had Boudin balls in my life and they were amazing! Rib eye was marinated in the most delicious sauce and the south side cheesecake was so rich and yummy. I highly recommend... Sorry for no pictures on the steak and dessert but I was too caught up after the boudin balls! In addition to the amazing food. The owner Bubba met me at the restaurant the next day before my flight because I had left my CC there! All around great experience and I am so happy I got to enjoy this during my short trip. read more

We called ahead to make a reservation, but were told it wasn't needed. When we got there, parking was a little hard to find because of the location. We got through to door, and was greeted by a hostess who lead us to our table. We ate on the second floor, which was fine. The music was live, and the staff was very friendly and polite. The drinks were good, mine was a little stronger than I like, but it was still very good. The steaks were perfect. No real complaints aside from parking. read more

Can't say I've ever been impressed by this place. I'm from Louisiana, so I'm rather a food snob when it comes to Cajun food. Their Cajun food is not bad, but it's definitely not good. Have never tried steak there. The atmosphere is great, best in Columbus. But the food is just so so. read more

A local suggested this place while I was in town for work. On Thursdays there is live music. When I arrived it was super crowded. It quickly became apparent that this was a great local spot. Many of the customers knew each other. Two ladies took me under their wing and helped me snag a seat at the bar. Everyone was super friendly. They had a few great beer options..including some from New Orleans breweries. Prices were very reasonable. I ordered the filet with a baked potato and greens. Steak was cooked perfectly and had nice flavor. Greens were a bit spicy..kinda odd in my opinion. Overall this was a good experience. Worth a return visit if I'm in the area again. read more

We tried out Huck's place on our way to Starkville. The service and food were not great unfortunately. We ordered the cheese sticks and they were okay, but very salty. My husband ordered the Creole Chicken Pasta and said it was alright. I ordered the boiled shrimp and they were very good with a good amount of spice. Drinks were serving in small Togo size drink cups instead of glassware, which we thought was odd for a $57 meal for two. The building itself seems to be right in the heart of Downtown and a great spot, we just wish the service and food was better. read more

This is a great hole in the wall spot. These are the spots that I look for when I travel. The boudin balls were incredible. The ribeye was cooked on point and the brown sugar marinade they use gives an incredible twist to their steaks. Turnip greens were on point. I sat at the bar, the bartender provided awesome service. 5++ stars for our Saturday evening visit! The sausage cheese plate, the filet, the ribeye, the Catfish Nola were ALL delicious. The turnip greens, the cheddar grits, the sweet potatoes and the dirty rice were all delicious. We have been to Huck's many times, and it's always good. But tonight was amazing. Our waitress was awesome. She took care of us beyond what was expected! It was a quiet, wonderful evening with the best atmosphere, food and drinks we could have asked for.
