Millhouse is nice. We weren't expecting to find any great coffee while we were in town, but Millhouse definitely gets the job done. Pretty good drinks. I got a hot coffee one day, & an iced americano the next day. I'd do the americano again for sure. Especially with the hot weather here, iced is the way to go I'd say. My wife tried a latte too that was good; pretty sweet. They were out of matcha when we came unfortunately. Good AC. Pretty spacious inside--seems like a great place to get some work done or meet up with somebody. We came twice while we were here in Hamilton & this was a pleasant surprise. Prices are fair. Instead of the breakfast buffet at the hotel, we decided to take a trip out to Hamilton for a recommend morning meal at Millhouse Coffee and Cafe. I am so glad we did. I love the style and decor of this place. The Millhouse has an antique style with a modern American flair. Very nicely executed and feels very comfortable. There is a small swag shop inside with T-shirt's and merch and a high top long table toward the back offering a chessboard and other fun game activities. They offer a moderate coffee house lounge area with free WiFi just opposite the modest dining room. I loved the leather blacksmith apron uniforms. Nice touch. The service was a bit sluggish as there were very few guests in attendance and have a counter area where you pick up your food after you order. The staff were a bit quiet and not engaging. Alabama is known for its Southern hospitality. I would have liked to hear some gentle background music. The food was spot on, from the avocado toast to the maple glazed bacon egg and cheese sandwich. You know I appreciate the fresh ingredients and the focus of presentation. Nicely done and delicious! The coffee drinks were flavorful and tasty. Barista quality! 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend! Coming from Atlanta and passing through to Memphis, the small town of Hamilton had an amazing coffee shop serving high quality food with amazing prices. I'm from Seattle, Washington so I'm a coffee connoisseur. It's rare to find coffee shops in small towns that offer milk alternatives and gluten free options. This coffee is actually one of the best I've had in Alabama. read more

I'm sure it was a skewed experience since I've seen good reviews but I certainly wouldn't try it again. Never got to actually try the coffee. I get a drip with a shot of espresso and was bombarded by a well meaning server (NOT barista) with disswadng information about how drip coffee is the same as espresso so am I sure I want to add a shot because he could just make me an Americano and it's the same thing (which it isn't). OK I surrender. Just give me a drip coffee. When I asked where the creamer is he got it out of the fridge and wanted my cup to add it. I said I like to prepare it myself but he wouldnt give it to me because he HAS to put it in. No prep station ? Ok even jacks lets me make it the way I like it. I wanted a coffee shop and sit awhile and get some work done online but I opted to just leave. I didn't want the coffee. He was disturbed and so gave me the ole "have a blessed day" lol but not the one you say to someone you wish to bless but the one you say when you can't say something else. Horrible experience. But I know it was an isolated one and yours will likely be better. read more

From our greeting from three of the sweetest young ladies, the yummy sandwiches topped off with a homemade cinnamon roll and delicious coffee this comfy place was a perfect stop on our way to Memphis. In Hamilton for a youth conference at The Ramp, and one of the staff told us to try out Millhouse. So glad we took their advice -- food is delicious! We had the Chicken Salad Salad, a chicken salad sandwich, and the roast beef and arugula sandwich. Soooo good! The atmosphere is comfortable and quaint, but modern. The staff are so friendly, and the prices are GREAT! We came for lunch and we will be back for dinner!! read more

We were trying to order our food and the young lady taking our order couldn't even answer our questions for talking to her friend. Then she literally called a friend up to the counter in front of us, in order to show off her new nails. My husband paid and gave her the exact change amount and she was still trying to take the change amount out of the dollars she was giving us back. When he stopped her, she said "I'm not good at math". Maybe so, but it would help if you were actually paying attention to what you're doing instead of chatting with your friends. I went and a drink from their cooler exploded in my hands. A Dr Pepper, covering me, my phone (ruining it) and my hair and clothing. No employee noticed and the manager, instead of showing real compassion, "pulled tapes" to see if my nine year old did or didn't speak to staff. It was....I have never seen less care for human beings. I loved the food. But they don't appear to care about people or the harm caused by product they sell being improperly maintained and what impact that can have on a person. read more

I am a coffee snob and was totally blown away in finding this charming cafe with a range of baked goods to snack on , a full coffee menu and competent baristas. If one needs to stop between Memphis and Birmingham, this is the place. Nice town as well. read more
