It was time for a new manicure and out of convenience I went to a salon in the mall. That was my first mistake. I should have known my nails were going down hill from the way that tech removed the dip. She basically just ripped the old polish off taking the healthy top layers of my nails with it. The mall manicure lasted a mere few days before chipping because she layered it so thick, maybe to compensate for my now weak nails. I should have made my way right back to Allure, but alas I went to a different salon later, again out of convenience. They gave me a better manicure but it still chipped and she also was a bit rough removing the polish. I didn't get nearly the two week wear I should have before the polish began to pull away from my nail and chips began to form. After two not so great experiences I came back here. I believe the tech who did my nails was the owner, and commented on how weak they looked, so I told her they removed the polish terribly elsewhere last time. When she took the polish off she took her time to make sure it was done the right way instead of just rushing it to make time for more clients. No cutting corners. She shaped them well, applied the polish so pristine, and made sure that they were perfect before I walked out. They also include a paraffin wax treatment every time and it feels so good! That's just the beginning. Now to the part of this whole experience that compelled me to write a 5 Star review; I noticed a few days later that the charge posted twice to my card. I think it might have been because her daughter (I think?) who was helping out in the salon ran the card. I could tell she was figuring out the machine, and by accident it charged the amount before tip, then the amount that I put down after tip. Two charges posted, one for $39 and the corrected one with tip of $47. Mistakes happen though, so before going to the card company, I called the salon to see if they could fix it. I left my name and number (owner was with a customer) and the owner called me back as soon as she was done. It was within 30 minutes. I explained and she immediately worked to remedy the problem. She removed the $39 charge, was in communication with me about the process, and even texted me a photo of the refund receipt showing that it was taken care of. Not only do they provide a great service with much better value than other salons in town, but the customer service and atmosphere is far superior. I won't be going anywhere else to get my nails done as long as I am in Annapolis. Allure is the best and their good company ethic shows. Thank you!

For those who are complaining about "the wait" for drying nails and etc. they need to realize that getting your nails done is a service for you and it takes time for the polish to dry in order to paint the clear finish coat. If they don't want to wait the they need to make an appointment. Not only are my nails perfect when they finish but they last for at least 3 weeks as well. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The same abbreviated service again. I also got a gel manicure this time. The nail tech was super sweet and friendly. The dry cuticle care left my cuticles shredded. The description of the gel manicure mentions a lotion massage, but what I received was just a few drops of cuticle oil after curing the polish -- definitely not the same thing. Not only did I receive the wrong service - they looked AWFUL. There was large amounts of glue left under the nails. You could see the tips of my actual nail underneath the French tip polish. Multiple nails were glued at an ugly 30° angle with the pinkies being the worst. I did gather the courage to go back and complain about 30 minutes later and the original lady tried to argue with me saying they were acrylic nails and that they looked fine. A second lady (assuming it was either the owner or manager) attempted to fix them but unfortunately they were unsalvageable. They did look a bit better but ultimately they should have been removed and redone properly. As a side note, after only two days both of my thumb nails have already started to lift. Despite my efforts to be conversant, he was non-communicative, indicating what I should do only by moving my feet and hands in the desired direction. His service was quick and perfunctory, while paying little attention to the callouses on my feet. This same technician suddenly found his voice when checking us out, however, and informing us what we owed the salon. When I got home and inspected my "manicure", all my cuticles were ragged. I hope you have a better experience if you go. We will not be returning to Kim's.
