After trying almost all of the Salons in Salinas, I almost gave up having nails after so many bad experiences. Then, my friend who always has excellent nails, referred me here. I am SO glad she did! I love how perfect of a job Linda does. An appointment is recommended, however, expect to wait a while as she finishes up the customer before you, even if you have an appointment. Her salon is well stocked but it could be cleaner. It looks like it gets a little wipe down at the end of a tiring night, but it also needs a deeper cleaning periodically. That makes me wonder how sanitary are their supplies.... I have tried using other employees but after having a horrid experience, I ONLY ask for Linda for my hands. I will wait when I have to because I will never go through a traumatic experience like that again!!! I get the pink and white gel overlays on my nails and they last me for a full four to five weeks without any lifts or breaks!!! I never get any yellowing or discoloration, which was common at other salons.... however, if you have nails done at another place and come to Pro Top to get a fill, just start over to get the best results. The products you used elsewhere may not be compatible with the products she is using. I can only have natural setting nails, wanted to try something different other than nudes and French tip. I went with an ombré, at first Kathy started with one nail as a demo I did not like it and I'm not the one to complain but I'm tired of paying for things I do not like. Anyways, after she knew I did not like the "ombré" look she was doing, she took it off and started all over. She ended up blending a color for me to make it a perfect pink/nude color. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you. I am never going back. The first time I went was 02/16 and the girl doing my nails: broke one of my toe nails while buffing it, DID NOT do a second coat of white on the tip (so it was patchy) and to top it off all the lines were uneven. Linda offered to fix my pedicure so I came back today 02/17. She completed removed the polish and "fixed them" she left them extremely thick and straight (no curve to the tip). I was so upset that I told her I liked them just so I could go home and fix them myself. If the owner didn't fix them who else could I trust? I was more pleased with my own outcome. This place went to shit. I used to love going here a few years ago. Finally went back to see and they have just 2 people working at a time. Messy job because they are in a hurry, probably. Also, they need to use new tools and emphasize on that. I like that they can add powder glitter to anything but it's not good enough. read more

This was my second time going here, (I only go in for pedis) I was satisfied the first time.. the salón is nice, the chairs are pretty new, the nail color selection is good, their pedi seemed to be really good including the hot stone! (That I liked a lot) But i clearly asked the tech to make sure I did not have in growns, that's one specific reason I get my toes done... I get them frequently and getting my toes done is the simplest way to keep them at bay. She kept telling me she didn't want to "go in deeper and cause an infection because 'it had happened in the past' and she did not want to hurt me" I asked her one more time to please check.. well, guess who woke up with a huge amount of pain at 5AM TWO DAYS later? Decided to try this place out & my experience was really disappointing. I asked for SQUARED ROYAL BLUE coffin nails. First she told me they had no matte nail polish, then her coworker said there was, they she said it was an additional 5$ for reshape and extra for cuticles to be clean. Got a "pedi" not even 10 min long no scrub no cuticle oil no buffing of my nails. She PULLEd OFF my gel polish I had on with cuticle nippers and used a very used up nail file for the rest !!!! Their UV lights need to be replaced! So nasty and held together by DUCKTAPE Worst of all I noticed when she was done that the implements she used on me were NOT DISINFECTED AND SOOO USED. If you go here, don't go to Kim. She's not friendly and rushes through your appointment. She left both my mom and I's nails very sloppy looking. Nail polish was missing at the cuticle and at the sides of the nail. A week later, my mom had gone back to ask if Kim could fix some of her nails because her gel manicure had already come off and she told her to go back to her other manicurist. So I just had to write about this place because Linda, the owner, is awesome! I came here after hearing about it from quite a few different ladies around town. It was Sunday and they were short staffed, but I was acknowledged immediately and they were sure to let me know that they hadn't forgot about me. The interior is cozy and delightful. They only have 4 pedicure spas and I think 4 nail stations, but it's nice. They have a good selection of nail tips and they also offer waxing services. My pedicure was great and my nails came out cute. Linda is a very social and wonderful lady and she really does care about her customers and the quality of the work that her nail salon produces. I'd recommend this place over the rest of the places I've been in Salinas because they take good care of you. Well worth the wait! *update. Linda's going to start doing 3D nails. ;) read more

Not sure pedicures are Pro- Top Nails specialty Custom nails and gels seems to be the forte. I hope as this was one of the worse pedicures I have had. I did not have time to go to my usual nail salon, so tried Pro Top nails. Granted it was an early Saturday morning and I walked in, and they did make time. I don't think I will be back though. The shop opened at 9;30 am. however, the staff did not show up unitl 9:45 a.m. and did not start working closer to 10.00. The pedicure quality was average to poor. The gal was very rough on my toes, I am glad they survived the experience. The scrub was poor, and the leg massage was basically non existent. I am not convinced the tools are cleaned in between pedicures based on the lack of cleanliness of the box she was pulling tools from. One tool was completed rusted. Yuk! It is a shame, as the location is convenient and we have relatively few options of good nail salons in the city of Salinas. I did not receive the full 20.00 value for the pedicure, and it was not a good experience. read more

Went in to get a fill and a pedi because my normal girl wasn't available at Luxury Spa. I heard good things about this place, but it was definitely a mistake to go. The lady who did my pedicure and my toes didn't pay attention to what I asked at all. She forgot to put the top coat on my toes, so they are now dull and scratched (over the course of two hours!). My nails are crooked, which I had asked her to fix twice before I gave up because they never looked better. My index nails are clearly longer than all the rest, not to mention that you can see every fill line through the color. I will NOT be coming back and I WILL be calling to complain in the morning. Went back to get a gel manicure thinking if I made an appointment they would be less rude. Also, I expected better results since instead of acrylic I only got a gel manicure. Well first off she brought back a different color I chose so I sent her back and she seemed annoyed. Then she asked why I chose a shade of blue instead of pink when I was having a girl (I'm pregnant). Well I don't know what that has to do with anything but whatever. She kept trying to offer glitter and designs to get more money and when I refused she acted passive aggressive. Linda kept hovering which made me nervous and was annoying. The woman Kim did not put my nails under the UV long enough to dry which resulted in only half my nails having a shine and the other half looking matte. I asked to get my eyebrows waxed by Linda and she did a half ass job and left stray hairs and I had to actually ask for her to trim the tops to make them look uniform. They charged me 30 dollars for that gel manicure and another 10 for the shitty wax job. 3 days later and my nails are cracking when my last gel manicure I had lasted nearly 2 weeks and was 10 bucks cheaper! By far the best experience I've had getting my nails done. Linda actually cared if I liked what she was doing and wanted to make sure the color was right and the length and all that. I have been a customer for almost 2 years and have had several bad experiences with the staff and the outcome of my nails. Linda is great at nails and with accommodating the customer, today I took my friend to this salon. Linda was gone on vacation and it seemed the entire salon had no idea what they were doing. They had back up nail techs to cover who I had never seen before. My friend had a picture of what she wanted, very simple. She was told that they know how to recreate the look. She ended up paying 55$ for them and when we complained after that it was not what she wanted and asked politely if they could fix this simple problem the other manager Tom, got angry and started raising his voice at me in front of a salon full of customers just for asking him to fix them.
