I received "No" after "No", but Ray reached out and said he had an idea. My gaming laptop was no longer powering on and due to its model, essentially every repair shop said they couldn't handle it. I was able to come by and drop off my laptop for a diagnostic check. An hour later Ray was done and sent me a highly detailed Diagnostic report with findings, causes, and recommendations. My issue required a full motherboard replacement so we weren't able to proceed with any fixes. Regardless, I am grateful to the expertise and support Ray has given me for the laptop. If I have any other pc issues in the future, I would return to TechCare, they know what they're talking about!

I called them at 5:50pm and spoke with Ray "I think he is the owner" anyway I told him what was going on and he said to come on down and that he would wait for me. When I arrived I noticed that they have a big Yelp banner on the window, I walked in and spoke with Ray about the problem and showed him a picture of what the error was, he was up front with me and explained that if the hard drive was bad that he would not be able to save my data. I told him to do his best to save my data. The next day he texted me with a quote and said that he would be able to fix it and save my data. I told him to fix it. About 3 hours later he texted me again and said to come on by and pick it up. Now when I arrived he didn't just give me my computer and send me on my way, he sat me down and explained that I have 3 different options to save my data just in case the hard drive or computer crashes in the future. He also said that if I'm not sure how to back up the hard drive or need help with anything to call him and he would walk me through it. When all was said and done, he charged me $299 out the door and my machine is working flawlessly!! Thank you Ray! You got a customer for life.

The professional representative was eager to help with anything and ensured a free diagnostic.. I totally understand the need to charge for more in depth diagnostics. I am appreciative for your honesty. I hope it won't be a major fix but if it is I am prepared for the outcome and trust your knowledge and recommendations. I used you in the past but the location on McGlincy was out of the way. Now I am happy you are in the Downtown Campbell area . I will be happy to update my review after the diagnostic and even if I don't have it repaired I will work with you and hope to find a good laptop with all my specifications. Remember you should always have a phone number of a reputable repair shop that has remote service available. Patrick called me and said it would be $200 for advanced diagnostics and he suggested to go along with it rather than buying a new laptop. This is always a good question to ask is it worth fixing?

My Nintendo Pro Controller NFC reader (for amiibo) stopped working and Nintendo basically told me…read morethey wouldn't fix it. I really do not want to treat electronics like they are disposable so I searched for a local repair on yelp and found ClickAway. Pros: They responded to my query right away (I sent my request after close and they got back to me asap the following day) They were polite and professional and asked me to bring it in for a free diagnostic so they could see exactly what it needed and if they could fix it. They had a 24 hour turn around, which they stuck to. Cons: They were not able to fix it, because Nintendo just isn't making the part available. (not taking a star off for that, cause that's on Nintendo) The ADA spot in the lot is on the the opposite side of the building from the entrance, The only reason I am not taking a star off for that is the way the closest spots are aligned in a steep stagger, it still leaves room to wrangle mobility aids in and out of the vehicle. It would be nice if one of them was reserved for ADA, because the building is long and the walk from the ADA spot to the front door is a bit of a haul if you are walker-ing or walking with a cane. Over all the crew was really professional and helpful, and I plan on taking my other tech issues to them in the future. HIGHLY recommend them. One tip though, Google Maps is not giving accurate instructions (at the time of this review) on how to get to them. They are going to try and make you make the world's dumbest u-turn, so for reference, it's across latimer from the KFC on winchester, and the lot entrance is to the left of the building as you face it from winchester, it's small and easy to miss, so be careful.

This was a somewhat convoluted repair, but I'll try and be brief ;)…read more I contacted Kongra appliance repair on Yelp and asked for assistance with a refrigerator that suddenly had decided to stop keeping cool. It's a Maytag side-by-side, and it's had some issues with the freezer coils icing up very 12-18months, and I'd just manually defrost them myself, but the fridge thing was new. Note, the appliance is more than 20 years old, but it's worked very well all this time that I really wanted to first see what it would cost to fix it before entertaining the idea of a forklift upgrade and buying a whole new unit. Russ came out that day and quickly identified a faulty damper (mechanically controlled 'vent' that lets cold freezer air into the refrigerator side), but wasn't certain the part would be available given the appliance's age. The next day he told me he HAD found a source for the part, and it'd arrive in a couple of days. Since my fridge was holding at 60F, I was incentivized to get the repair done ASAP. My freezer, at the time, was still pumping down to -10F. Two days later, Russ's co-worker "Kevin" came out and installed the new damper. It was not a simple process given it's mounted between the two sides (Freezer/Fridge), under the thermostat controls and in the far back corner. He got it installed, and confirmed it was toggling open and closed...However, during this time, my freezer started to NOT keep cold anymore and was up to 30F. In the past, when the coils iced up, this would happen, but I had just done the manual defrost 10 weeks ago. I asked if the damper could have had anything to do with the freezer issues, and he confirmed, that no, couldn't be related. Trying to figure out why the freezer wasn't pumping down anymore led to discussions of the possibility I could have a coolant leak, bad compressor and other potential more than $1500 costs (meaning, just buy a new appliance) which they'd need to come out and check to confirm. In the meantime, I said I'd check the coils again to see if they had iced up. So, I checked the coils, and again, much sooner than usual, they were completely covered in ice, so I did another manual defrost using the recommendation Kevin provided which was much better than what I've been doing over the years. I asked Russ, since we were working on the appliance anyway, if he could check to see if my defrost function was working (since it didn't appear to be). Post coil defrost, the freezer was cooling down again so it was clear this wasn't a compressor or coolant issue (yay). Kevin came out and confirmed the defrost heating element resistance was in spec, the thermostat controller was working and there was nothing in the freezer side that would be causing the ice up...so, back to the fridge side to check the logic board. He confirmed that the logic board's defrost function wasn't working right, so they found a new controller for me (for a greater than 20year old appliance). One day later they had it in hand to install. After installation, Kevin confirmed by triggering the defrost that the new board was working properly. With my de-iced coils, new damper and now new controller board, I waited a weekend to see if everything would still keep working. After 2 days, my fridge was down to 40F, my freezer was back at -10F, and I can hear the compressor cycling on and off as the defrost function runs (which I haven't heard in years, but didn't know I should have been listening for). Everything is working great, and I really appreciate the fact that my invoiced price didn't increase even though it seemed clear the level of difficulty they anticipated was greater. Very happy with the service, communication, speed of resolution, knowledge and friendliness of Russ and Kevin and highly recommend them.

Some background: over a decade ago, I spent a several years…read morerepairing Macs at the Genius Bar, before moving onto other roles within the company (and eventually after many years leaving). Flash forward to now: my work MacBook Pro suddenly completely dead. No power, not charging, and all USB-C ports showing only drawing 5v. I did my own work down, attempting to isolate to bare minimum components in order to get it to boot. I've worked on enough of these machines to suspect liquid damage even though there hadn't been any spills or anything, and I pulled the logic board and did a close visual inspection looking for blown MOSFETs or any real sign of dried liquid. Found nothing, and I was a little disappointed that my old skills were failing me. Critically, I needed data on the machine that had not yet been backed up. (Dumb.) Unlike back in the day, there's no removable flash storage chip that you can mount in an enclosure and get back on data. In fact, the data itself is now encrypted against the security chip on the machine, so really the only option is to get the machine booting again, or spend $2000-$5000 on forensic data recovery (and even then with the encryption, I wasn't confident if that was a viable option anymore). I knew that if I brought the machine to Apple, they would try very few things to get the machine up and booting with my data intact before replacing components, and thus taking my data with it. I also knew I was probably looking at $1500-$1800 in logic board part cost. I bring it to Alex and crew at MacFixed. Alex called me within 24h and filled me in on his initial diagnosis, which told me that I wasn't missing anything silly and that the issue was way deeper than anything I could address. Approved the repair and he went to work. Pricing was an incredibly good deal, somebody this skilled deserves to be paid for their time, and with the amount of time debugging that this kind of issue would require, I got out the door for $550 which is an absolute steal. I mentioned the alternative repair options and their prices, and hopefully that puts that cost in perspective. Well, Alex solved it, after spending an entire weekend on the thing. He told me he eventually noticed something just slightly off on a surface mount component's pad, just a slight shift in coloring, and desoldered it on speculation to finally find the issue. Some truly microscopic amount of liquid managed to wedge itself under the chip and short out the entire machine. He replaced the chip, revived my machine, and even maintained a backup for me while I went home to get a second copy for redundancy created. He said he saved the chip to show me, and when I picked up my machine I couldn't believe how small it truly was. Unbelievable. Attaching photos to this review. I'll come to ya'll again in a heartbeat and sharing positive word of mouth every chance I get. Thank you again guys.
