I love Pro Nails! I just moved away from Ann Arbor but absolutely loved pro nails while I lived there. It took me a solid year to find a good nail salon in town but then I found Lee at Pro Nails! She is the best and makes my gel acrylic nails last forever!!!! A couple times I used the other nail techs and they were all great too. Pedicures were also super easy and good quality. I'm so glad I found this place. My son recently had ingrown nail removed by a podiatrist. Before he went to dorm, I just wanted him to get a professional pedicure done and boy was I glad. Not sure how my son didn't know or maybe he was just too tough but the pedicurist found he had a lot of still remaining ingrown nail. She did such an awesome job that my son said he felt no pain at all and was shocked to see how bad it was. He said at the doctor's office, it did hurt him but here nothing at all. So thankful to the lovely ladies, Giau and Min who did the pedicure for both my boys. This was their 1st time as they never would agree to me when I asked before. Am glad that this happened before I left him at the dorm and went back home to CA. Or one morning I would have got the dreaded call that he was in pain due to ingrown nail and being so far not sure what I would have done. I called to get the names correct and was told the lady who removed the ingrown nail was Lina. The receipt says Giao and Min. Hope she sees the message that how thankful my son and we are to have her do the pedicure. I'm actually planning to go get a pedicure myself on my next trip. read more

This was my first time coming here and I will not be coming back. I paid $70 for a gel manicure and pedicure, which is a reasonable price -- except within 3 days, the gel started chipping on multiple nails and toenails. This has never happened to my nails at any other salon so I'm assuming the gel polish they use is watered down or expired. Also, while getting my manicure, the manicurist nicked the skin on my pinky finger with the electric nail file. When my skin would not stop bleeding, she used nail glue to cover the bleeding spot without asking me if it was okay to do that. Mistakes happen but it would've been much better if she had asked me before covering it with nail glue. I've only been here once, so maybe it was just a one-off bad experience - but I was very disappointed in this salon and definitely wouldn't come back. read more

The nail technicians do a nice job. They push "gel" a bit much and I prefer a traditional manicure/pedicure. On my last visit I got charged for gel removal on my feet - I have never had gel on my feet! That is wrong and when I told them I didn't have gel, a language barrier became an issue. My nails (and pedi) lasted a full month that I was traveling overseas. Only thing I would change is that I feel like the techs were all rushing too much. The durability of the shellac 36 hours in was not impressive. The white paint (French on my natural nails) chipped 36 hours in. I went back for a repair. They were kind and helpful, but the guy literally drew blood on my cuticle. Now, four days later, my cuticles are ravaged. My semi-pretty nails pale next to the hangnails I have from the manicure. The worst nail salon I've ever been to. Took my 6 year old daughter here to treat her to a mani pedi for her birthday and figured id get a mani pedi with her also. My pedicure was 10 minutes long and the lady had to get up 10+ times then leading to her not even paying attention to me and then my shellac manicure is horrible. My nails ended up super short and butchered and look awful. The polish is see through in most spots and blotchy looking and they filed them uneven and left hang nails and cuticles behind and didn't cut them all the way off. Not to mention my daughters mani and pedi took 10 minutes as well and they made her sit in her chair while I finished my nails and Wouldn't let her sit next to me. read more

Made the mistake of coming back here, hoping that my first experience was just a fluke. I got the nail dip done, which I've had done many other times at other salons. The finished product left me with nail polish that looks like I ran sandpaper over it before applying a top coat. Also, my nails HURT. They clipped down the sides of my nails so low that I'm now in pain. I will definitely never be back. To top it all off I called in and asked about price. I walked in without an appt to have my shellac removed and replaced with a plain polish manicure. I was quoted $14 (student rate). The manicure was painful. While roughing up the old shellac with a course-grit file, the nail tech consistently scraped the file back and forth across my cuticles, despite my flinching. Same issue with the nail buffer, scraping across my now raw cuticles, causing two of them to bleed. She said "oh" and sprayed water on a paper towel for me to stop the bleeding. On top of this, when it came time to pay, the tech sprung a $5 fee on me "for removing shellac" and did not allow me the student price. read more

On March 27, 2014, my girlfriend and I went to ProNails to get mani/pedis for an event that we had that evening. The service that day was unremarkable in itself. I'm posting this review because of what happened afterwards. The morning after we had our nails done, I woke up with a swollen and red big toe. It was relatively painful, but I thought that if I soaked it in warm water and applied Neosporin at night, it should feel better in no time. Unfortunately, the following morning it hurt even worse. I again followed the soaking/Neosporin regimen to no avail. The pain worsened and my toe began to turn purple both on the side of my nail, as well as underneath the nail bed. Come Wednesday, it was so painful that I could barely walk and was unable to get a shoe one, so I walked to school with a flip-flop on in 20-degree weather. I called around to a bunch of Ann Arbor podiatrists to see who could get me in first thing on Thursday morning. I went to the most reputable podiatrist in the area (based on Yelp reviews etc.) and told him what had happened. He said that it was more likely than not caused by the pedicure and that he saw this kind of thing all of the time. He said that he had seen this kind of thing countless times, and that he would need to perform a procedure on my toe in order to ensure that the bone didn't get infected (in which case he would likely have to amputate the toe). He proceeded to administer me local anesthetic and remove about 1/3 of my left big toenail before injecting the skin under the nail with something to kill the bacteria. Needless to say, the procedure was incredibly painful, but the recovery has been even worse. I had to take an antibiotic for two weeks, and six weeks and two follow-up appointments later, I am still soaking my toe twice a day in Epsom salt baths before I apply steroid drops to it and wrap it in bandages. I was unable to work out for weeks and just last week, I was able to get my toe in a shoe for the first time. I contacted Jimmy, the owner of Pro Nails, about three weeks after my procedure. I told him that I would be seeking reimbursement for the nearly $600 (after insurance) in medical expenses that I had procured. He told me that it was my doctor's fault and that I should have come back in to let a nail tech "fix it". I told him that he was a nail shop owner, not a physician, and if he thought I would let anyone in his shop touch one of my nails again, he was SORELY mistaken. As a (poor) law student, I was merely seeking reimbursement for my well-documented medical expenses and not for pain and suffering as many of my law professors advised me that I should. This place SEEMS legitimate, which is why my friend and I decided to go there. But let this serve as a warning to you: do NOT go to ProNails. Though their instruments appear to be sterile, the water I soaked my feet in before my pedicure seems to have had bacteria in it and in order for that bacteria to get inside my toe, the nail-cutting methods must have been questionable. To top it off, the management and customer service are extremely poor. Save yourself the pain and trauma that I experienced and go somewhere else!!!!! read more

I really liked to give this place more than 1 star but I honestly can't! I hoped to get a good service for it's 4star yelp rating, which really didnt happen. I went there for my birthday, and had a massage appointment on 4pm, so I asked on the phone how long a french manicure takes and the guy told me 30-35 mins. I arrived on 3 pm ( and the massage place was 2mins drive from there) , the saloon looked good and clean, I was immediately seen by a girl. After 2 mins she was replaced by a guy (David). Most of these people dont know english at all so I had a hard time explaining what type of French I like. The guy looked very nice and tired his best, but the nail polish he was using was very low quality and inconsistent in texture. He also didnt pay attention how sketchy it looked like! I asked him several times to fix some parts and I have no idea why he was super slow. I have done it several times before and never ask the technician to fix the nail polish. It's what they do everyday and should deliver an acceptable design. It took me 1 hour until he sent me to that dryers. I already missed a part of my Massage appointment, had paid $25 with tip and when I took my hands outside the machine, it was all wavy! So i was really pissed and the guy said he has no idea why it happened (repeating weird 10 times!) and the manage told me it is normal and it "flattens" as it gets dried. So after one hour, it didnt get fixed, I got back, they had to clean half of may nails and redo them but in rush, and instead of "me" being angry to spend 2 hours for a french and ruining my BD evening, they showed me faces that I got back and asked them to fix. Sooo, I ended up paying, not being satisfied with the service, and having an awful customer service experience! I WILL NEVER GET BACK TO THIS PLACE! read more

I try to give every business more than one chance before writing it off - I've worked in restaurants and retail so I understand one bad experience shouldn't automatically mean rant by Yelp. However, my experience at Pro Nails was a one-and-done type ordeal. I arrived at 6:00 p.m. on a Wednesday evening in the middle of the summer. The place seemed hopping, but not overly packed. I was told to pick my color for a pedicure and have a seat with my feet in the water. I figured that meant I was next in line for a pedicure and could relax. Unfortunately, the staff's poor time management and customer service meant that I waited close to 40 minutes in the hot water (in a salon with poor ventilation, as other reviewers have noted), meaning it was basically a sweat feast -- gross!!! Every 5 minutes or so, I would be told someone would be "right with me" while the other woman who came in before me and I sat FOREVER. A few people with appointments were seen first, which is fine and should be expected for appointments, but the staff kept explaining that to me while I sweltering in the pedicure chair rather than offering me water (which those with appointments were offered) or a fresh magazine. This just leads to annoyance, am I right? When I was finally seen, the woman rushed the pedicure and missed part of my big toe. The pedicure also chipped within a few days -- something I've rarely seen! -- because I'm pretty sure she forgot a top coat. Look, I'm a professional woman and I've never been treated so nonchalantly by a business. There are so many nail salons in Ann Arbor, I just don't see the point in wasting my time trying this place again. But hey, my experience could've been a fluke -- it's up to you to try, this was just my experience. read more

I got my nails done for my vacation. I got it done on 2／24, tues as shown on my credit card transaction but on 2／26, thurs, it started coming off. I had a bad feeling when the lady did my nails because the nailpolish didnt stay on. She had me put it under UV light for each finger she painted. It seems expired. I just called in and the guy who acted like an asshole asked me why i didnt call earlier. I went on a vacation to cancun and called immediately after i landed which is only one week after. This place obviously does quite a bit of business. They have TONS of employees and TONS of stations for manicures and pedicures. They also offer waxing. I went in on Thursday around noon and there wasn't a wait. I chose the deluxe pedicure- which they had me pick a set of "scents" for my pedicure. Once seated, the nail tech asked if I wanted a parrafin wax treatment as part of my deluxe pedicure. I opted in for that, as I've never done that before. Throughout the process, I received a leg massage, hot towels on the legs, the paraffin treatment, and a hot stone treatment. If you have the time to do it, it isn't much more than a regular pedicure. However, I was in there for almost an hour and a half. This isn't my usual spot, but it is clean, I didn't have to wait, and the nail tech was very friendly! read more

They then let us know that they "over did" the schedule and would not be able to see us for another hour and a half. (Mind you, we drove an hour to get there). We said we would go to the mall to shop around and be back. When I called back an hour and a half later they still said they were behind. I needed these services for a special event. I've never been more disappointed in a business. I used to do this for a living. I've been a Hairstlyist for 13 years and could never imagine treating a client that way. Don't let it's cheesy strip mall sign fool you, Pro Nails is a great spot. While I miss the cheapness of NYC mani/pedis on every block, I don't mind paying Michigan prices for Pro Nails. I've been coming here with my exchange student since the fall when we discovered it homecoming weekend. After trying a few places around town this one has become our go to. We haven't been anywhere else this year. The space is large and I like the layout. The pedicure chairs are many and located in the back. They are clean and modern and comfortable. I'm short and I can adjust the chair to sit comfortably. The manicure stations have tables where certain services are done and a round bar for others. The bar has slots for hands during Shellac manicures which is far more convenient than other places' setups for this type of manicure. I have never had to wait more than 2 minutes but I also am lucky enough to be able to come during less popular times. They fill up quickly once it's a more popular time. The staff is excellent with some more friendly/talkative than others. They are meticulous. This can make things go a little slower (even a Shellac manicure) so plan accordingly. I'd rather pay extra for Shellac and have it take a little longer and know it's perfect than go anywhere else. read more

On my first visit here, almost 2 years ago, I got a French pedicure + French gel (Shellac) manicure with Monica for $67 (pre-tip). Although I arrived at 6:30pm and they close at 7, I didn't feel rushed at all and stayed until almost 8. Today, I got a gel mani (in Funny Bunny) and gel pedi (in Romantique) for $71 (pre-tip) with Akilah. Both are beautiful pale pink colors and instantly made my hands and feet look tanned :) On each occasion, I was there for about an hour and a half and left happy. While the price is kind of steep (and the Yelp checkin offer and student discounts don't apply to Shellac), their attention to detail makes up for it. My nails look great for at least 4-6 weeks so that also makes me feel a little better about the price. For most of my visits, I skip the mani/pedi and just do a gel color change. It still takes about an hour but costs $28. Definitely the most economic route. read more

This place is huge and clean! My nail tech was super friendly and talkative. I hated the first color I picked and he encouraged me to pick another. Not once did I feel like I was a total pain (which I'm sure I was!). Also, the manicure price, at $16, is the least expensive I've found in the Ann Arbor. Only con is that I wish they offered more Essie colors. They have a giant OPI selection, but really lack on any natural colors, which is Essie's strong suit. I'll definitely be back, but I would probably bring my own Essie color next time. read more

I have tried other places and this one is the best for me... in fact I drive 20 minutes just to get my nails done here. I am in the health profession so cleanliness is very important to me and this place is CLEAN. Everyone has their own personal disposable nail file and everything comes out in autoclave bags. They have tons of nail colors and different brands so you can get whatever you desire. My shellac never lasts longer than a week anywhere else but here I can get 2-3 weeks out of it and I wash my hands 50x daily. My pedicure colors last months... and they always take their time. They are a very busy salon but everyone is working so hard and the place is very clean that I cannot blame them for rushing people in and out as long as quality stays and I have never had a problem with quality. It is also one of the cheapest places around for a mani, pedi, or shellac. Very good salon and will not go anywhere else in Ann Arbor!!!!! read more

We love it here! We've been going for 8 years and it's grown so much. The people are very friendly and they are willing to buy any polishes that are out of stock or not in stock from the local industry store. It's a gorgeous new facility which is large enough for wedding parties or birthday parties (they have three cute kids chairs too). I love the pedicures personally, which include a hot stone massage. The chairs are brand new and there are flatscreens all over. The general ambiance is exceptional. Sometimes there is a wait, but typically you can at least sit in a massage chair and soak your feet while waiting. I don't mind one bit. read more
