I am writing this review 2 days after my appointment. It went amazing! I felt totally relaxed and rejuvenated. Brielle was my aesthetician and I couldn't have been happier. She talked to me but with just the right amount of conversation to still keep it a relaxing experience. She knew just what treatments would work for my skin and two days later the effects are still paying off and I'm still glowing! Definitely will be back at least 3 more times before my wedding in May. Bellanina is such a beautiful day spa located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor. They offer complimentary parking along the front entrance of the building otherwise you'll need to park on the street or in the parking structure. Upon entering, your warmly greeted by a staff member but make sure your wearing a mask, even if your vaccinated it's a requirement to enter the building. Prior to going into the spa room for my facial I had to fill out a form where they asked if I had any allergies, any sensitivity to certain products, etc. I really appreciated the form seeing as I have a few allergies to a couple different items. I received a Vitamin C facial with Victoria and I have to say it was fantastic. Entering the lavender styled room, I was immediately relaxed. The facial lasts an hour and by the time it ended I truly felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. I highly recommend Bellanina Day Spa if your looking for a relaxation getaway! I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and only waited a couple minutes for my appointment (which was just enough time for a smalll snack offered in the waiting room). My esthetician was still with her previous client ( yes, I could hear them chatting and laughing from the room they were in). The front desk was unsure how much longer it might be. My services was Microdermabrasion something I've before at different Spa. I was disappointed that I was offered a gown or robe to wear, the technician just had me lay on the table, and she put a towel on my chest. After my treatment I wasn't offered water. I find that we are quick to admonish an individual or business for sub-par service, so why do I now hesitate to applaud the exceptional? Honestly, I am afraid that ya'll are going to follow my recommendation, see Mee-Lynn for a massage, and I won't be able to get an appointment! That said, she is very deserving of this public praise... I called Bellanina on a whim, in need of a massage after a long holiday weekend, and was fortunate to score an appointment within the hour. The spa experience overall was not what I am "used to" in that you do not first change into a robe before waiting in the calm room. Instead, you simply disrobe in your treatment room. I only mention this, because I had hoped to freshen up with a quick shower after my massage, or at least look into a well-lit mirror to adjust my slightly disheveled self before heading out of the spa, but no bother -- I know now, and you have been appropriately warned. Now, to the massage: The bed was warmed, and Mee-Lynn was very accommodating, allowing me to start face-up or face-down, whichever my preference. I prefer a moderate to deep pressure, and she delivered just that with occasional application of pressure points for my most stubborn knots. There was no speaking except when necessary as to promote the deepest relaxation. Honestly, Mee-Lynn served up my BEST massage in recent memory, possibly ever! My husband had purchased a gift certificate for me for Mother's Day 2020 for the Ultimate Bliss Retreat. I finally felt comfortable enough to use it. My retreat was with Bridget. She was absolutely amazing, professional and yet very personable. Every aspect of my experience was heavenly. Bellanina Day Spa was also very clean. I felt very safe the entire time. Went here for the first time.. the lady before me complained because she had ordered a 90 min massage, but only got 60 minutes. Thought that was very strange.. even more weird the receptionist acted like it was not a huge deal.. I went in for a massage and noticed there were stains on the bed, I made mention of it and was ignored. The massage was fine, nothing amazing. I went back at 2, she started at 215 and ended promptly at 259 (there was a clock in the room). Felt rushed to get in and out. Things were outdated and a little unkept. I absolutely love Bellanina, hands down the best best best spot in Ann Arbor for a massage or facial (in my experience) i like to come in on my birthday (10% off) for a little treat to myself. a few years back i did a massage, facial, and steam shower. They gave me a robe a slippers for the day and even gave me a small snack in between treatments which was very tasteful. The staff is so warming and they all talk in a quiet relaxing tone which is nice. now I will share one story from a girlfriend,.... even though my personal experience with Bellanina has been flawless. I have to say my girlfriend who had been going to Bellanina for years had a facial gone wrong the tech picked at some active acne which left her with scabs on her face, while I have had nothing but a lovely experience, she was very upset by this mishap. Also, they don't have a parking lot, which honestly isn't a big deal just make sure you put enough in the meter since sometimes things might go a little over and you'll be so relaxed you will not want to rush! Absolutely so disappointed in this place. My mom and I have been clients here for well over a year and receive monthly hydro facials. Wanting to treat my grandmother for Christmas, we purchased her one and booked it for the day after Christmas. When we walked in we were greeted by Brielle at the front desk. She claimed that they couldn't service my grandmother because we were 15 minutes late and it would ruin the schedule for everyone. She rolled her eyes and had a rude smirk on her face the entire time. Luckily, the girl who was to do the facial came out and said no problem she would make it work. While my mom and I were waiting for my grandmother, we went up to tell Brielle how upset we were that we had been greeted this way especially since it was a gift for my grandmother who had never been to the spa before. It gets worse... She proceeds to tell us that it was rude of us to be late because apparently our appointment was at 10:15!? Okay even if it was, it was still only a difference of 15 minutes. She told us that we messed up the whole schedule for the day and that we should be thankful that they even took my grandmother because they don't take clients who are late. Again, giant smirk on her face and rolled her eyes countless times at my mom. It was horrible. She went back and forth with my mom for over 5 minutes telling us all about how it was our fault. When we proceed to pay for the service, Brielle is nowhere to be found. The manager came in instead and talked with us about the issues and tried to resolve it. It pains me to write a semi-negative review for a local business I appreciate, but I haven't been to Bellanina in quite some time and I thought it would be a good idea to share my experience today. I booked a facial...having had a service there a while back called the Bellavi Facelift massage...more of a massage than a facial, super-relaxing and great. When I came in today, the aesthetician suggested that the Bellavi thing wasn't a "real facial" and said it would be a better idea to get the standard botanical facial with an upsell including a mask. I deferred to her expertise and settled in for my splurge. I waited nearly 15 minutes for the aesthetician to return...she apologized as she had been cornered in the shop by someone who was looking for products. I figured it was no big deal and that the session would simply run an extra 15 minutes. The products at Bellanina are fantastic...no complaints there. However, in the past when I have had a facial, there was a lot more "hands-on" attention with less of a focus on gadgets and product. This aesthetician didn't do the wonderful massage portion of the facial, but used some kind of electronic muscle stimulation machine, the steam and the mask (the mask was great, but NOT worth the $30 upsell and lack of massage). She also massaged my hands and shoulders for a minute or two, but not the feet, which in the past has always balanced out the facial for me. I feel like she kind of "phoned in" the body work portion of the service. The procedure was over in 45 minutes, she didn't go over to make up for the lost time, and this was disappointing. In the end, I feel like I wasted my (scarce) "treat" money on something that wasn't really worth it. Perhaps I should have mentioned it afterwards, but I just didn't feel like getting into it with them. I also don't want to hurt her feelings or anything, she was very personable, but it wasn't the all-out pampering experience I have had in the past. If I had written this review 5 or 10 years ago, it would have been 5 star, easily, because the spa has been FANTASTIC in the past, so I know this may be a one-off bad experience. However in these economic times, it's good to know if you're going to splurge that there may be better choices. read more

I used to see Lauren for bikini waxes when I lived in Ann Arbor and based on the reviews, it looks like she may still be working there. If she is, I HIGHLY recommend her. In the five years since I left Ann Arbor I've never had a better, friendlier, more efficient waxing experience than with Lauren. Also, once I became a regular client she was willing to do quick "spot wax" appointments for me to get rid of those pesky strays between full waxes (I should note that I don't grow a lot of hair; she may or may not be able to offer this to you, for me it was like a 5 minute job). A very professional and welcoming environment. For my first facial appointment - i had a gift card - i had randomly booked a treatment that appeared to be the shortest on the menu to save me time. When i got there Lauren explained to me what that treatment was about. It sounded more radical than what i had in mind and she suggested i go with a another milder one - and cheaper one- that would be more appropriate for my skin/age. despite the fact i had to rebook for a different day - practically i wasted that time slot with her- she was still very kind and made sure i would get her next available appointment. I had read other reviews about Bikini/Brazilian waxes about Lauren and being that I am not originally from Michigan I had no clue where else to go. Since this type of thing is always personal it was great to have someone as cheerful and welcoming as Lauren was. She was fast and friendly and the experience was not uncomfortable (like it was at other places I have gone). Pro: Everything, great staff, good prices. They comp parking and are willing to rebook ahead of time or schedule you in later. Con: The only thing I can think of is that there is not really any on-site parking. I have tried their skin care, mud baths, massage, facial wax, eye brow wax, and etc. Heather is a specialist who will work with you to meet your needs. She has created beautiful eyebrow shaping that fits my face and I have not gone to any other places since I found Heather! I recommend this place for any male or female clients looking for very affordable and very good and clean service for massages. They use very high quality products that are all natural and that won't harm your skin. I am very sensitive to a lot of skin products but have not had any bad reaction to their products. The Mister gave me a gift certificate for a pedicure here for my birthday. Which was over a month ago. (but that's what happens when you have small creatures called a "baby" in your house...) Anyhoooo, I thought the digs were pretty swank, but no crappy gossip magazines! (The closest they got was "Spa Professional Monthly" and "Good Housekeeping"- bah,) And I was offered water, only to be given a teeny disposable cup to drink it out of - shouldn't a nicey-nice spa have something a bit more swank to drink out of? The pedicure itself was good - at first I thought it was pretty pricey for something that seemed pretty run-of-the-mill, but it's definitely better than a mall pedicure - the technician was able to shave off about three years worth of dead skin (gross, I know), which has never happened with previous pedicures. My toes are nice and sparkly, and I left impressed, even if I didn't get to read about Jessica Lohan Spears, or sip water out of a glass tumbler or something... read more

I must say, I am a bit disappointed in my experience at Bellanina. The staff were all lovely and kind, not a bad thing to say about them at all! The service I got here was the "spa pedicure with parrafin", there were some great parts to it, the parrafin wax is wonderful, but they only leave it on you for about 8 minutes. The thing I was the most disappointed in was the lack of a foot/leg massage. It talks about the "luxurious foot and leg massage" in the description, and I even called to be sure there was a significant massage involve since this was a gift for my mom who loves foot massages. They assured me that there was. But what we got was nothing more than some lotion rubbed around on our legs and feet for maybe 5 minutes MAX. I brought it up and the technician said that was all that was involved in this pedicure. Disappointing. But the polish looks great, just wish the part I was looking forward to the most would have actually happened! read more

I really loved it! I went for the "teen" facial. It was wonderful, relaxing and quiet. My servicer Ashley was great, we had an intelligent talk about books. Their services are anything for mani/pedis to a steam shower with the choice of eucalyptus or lavender scent. The prices aren't for the faint hearted, but spring for it a couple of times! While I'm not a fan of Bellanina's decor -- it seems slightly new agey to me, I am a big fan of their skin care products. My favorites are their Naturals, which have a selection of paraben-free goods that are also vegan friendly. They have great gift ideas. When I walked in here, I was sort of ignored and that was annoying to me. Working in customer service, I usually take notice if I'm at least greeted when I walk in. That day I was browsing their baby skin care products -- they have a nice selection. Perfect off-registry options for those baby showers that are coming like storms. read more

I visited Bellanina for the first time last week, and I was more than a little disappointed with my experience. I had made an appointment two weeks in advance for a side-by-side mani/pedi for myself and my boyfriend, but when we arrived at the spa, we were told that we only had appointments for pedicures. That was disappointing enough, but then we learned that there was only one nail technician assigned to us, and that our "side-by-side" appointments were really just two hour-long appointments, one after the other, with the one of us not being worked on just sitting there waiting. For an hour. Luckily, we have smartphones. (I should say, though, that Hao--the nail tech--was wonderful, and did a really nice job with our feet.) I'm not sure if there was a scheduling mix-up or if "side-by-side" just means something completely different at Bellanina than it does at other spas, but I was really disappointed. It certainly wasn't the pampering couple's experience we'd decided to treat ourselves to. At least we found it out now, before we scheduled a "side-by-side" massage! EDITED TO ADD: The manager of Bellanina has since called to apologize for our experience at her Spa, and to invite us to give them another chance to impress us. If we go back (perhaps for the manicures we missed out on last time), I'll revise this review again to include our new (hopefully more positive) experience. read more
