Won't be hiring these guys again. We hired them to paint the trim, doors and windows in one room. In the initial e-mail through Yelp, we clearly explained (see screenshot) that there is some overpaint on the sliding window tracks from the previous owner, and we would like that cleaned up as well. They provided a bid, which we accepted. The crew showed up on time, and proceeded to work. When we got home, we found that they did a decent job on the trim, but there were some glaring issues...
1. Instead of cleaning up the old paint from the window tracks as requested, they actually painted part of the window tracks; basically painting the windows shut. (see pics)
2. They didn't bother opening the lower half the window while painting, so when the window is open you see 1/2" of old paint at the bottom, with new paint dripping down over it.
3. Some of the crown molding had drips running down the wall (see pic).
4. One of the three doors was removed and leaning up against the wall in the hallway, and they forgot to paint it.
5. The windows had brush marks which had be razored off. (see pic)
SO, they sent one guy back to fix this, which was fine, but...
1. He said the window tracks were already painted, and that no one told him that they were supposed to be cleaned up. They were not painted...they just had a bit of overpaint on them. He did manage to unstick the windows, but I had to start cleaning the NEW paint from the tracks myself before he got involved. In a phone call to their coordinator, he denied that the Yelp e-mail thread mentioned anything about cleaning up the window tracks. I could not check that at the moment, and gave him the benefit of the doubt, but later found that the first e-mail does indeed mention it (see pic), so he lied to me.
2. He painted the bottom of the window that he had neglected the day before, but didn't bother sanding off the drips, so that looks pretty bad.
3. Never addressed the crown molding paint dripping down the wall (see pic), so I'll need to fix that.
4. He did paint the door that they had forgotten.
5. I razored the window brush marks off.
The guy they sent to fix the problems was in a huge hurry to get to his next job, so even the fixes were hastily done.
The biggest disappointment here was their coordinator (Justin?) telling me that the e-mail thread made no mention of the window tracks, when it clearly did. They sent someone out to correct the problems, but the priority seemed be avoiding responsibility and getting out of there ASAP. They were the lowest bidder, so the lesson here is that you get what you pay for...
Almost forgot! The crew who initially showed up were both wearing masks, but the guy who showed up to fix the problems was not wearing one. read more
