We can't say enough about how great Rick was!! Rick was far more than a driver. He was a welcome party, a tour organizer, a local wine and food expert, and a wonderful conversationalist! This was our first trip to Paso Robles, and our first trip centered around wine tastings. We could not have done it without Rick, and Rick made it amazing. A friend who had been to Paso Robles referred us to Rick and we're so thankful for the connection! Over our four-day trip, Rick was able to get us to 16 thoughtfully curated tastings (including one phenomenal olive oil tasting!). Ahead of the trip, Rick consulted with us about what we wanted to get out of the trip, what wines we liked, etc. He then designed the best trip itinerary--location-sensitive, background/picture ready, time-aware, palate-sensitive. Nothing felt rushed, redundant, or poorly sequenced. When our plans shifted slightly mid-trip, he pivoted effortlessly and rearranged some tastings without missing a beat. Importantly, Rick is deeply knowledgeable about all things Paso Robles (food, wine, what to do) and clearly very knowledgeable about wine in general--vintages, varietals, producers, and bottles. He speaks about wine naturally and fluently, and it's obvious he's a frequent taster himself. Just as importantly, he's extremely well connected. He knows the wineries and the people behind them, and because of that, we consistently received exceptional service. He never hovered, always gave us space, but quietly made sure we were given the five star treatment, including getting extra tastings we wouldn't have had otherwise. He was also invaluable beyond the wineries. Rick knew exactly where to eat and what we should order (can't recommend the focaccia bread at Niner enough!!), and somehow got us into places we couldn't get into on our own. That kind of access isn't accidental! A few extra touches worth mentioning: his wife's homemade brownies were an incredible end to our tasting days, and Rick also happens to be a great photographer who knows all the best spots. He's affordable, highly people-aware, and has a genuinely high social EQ. It should go without saying that of course he was an excellent driver as well (no car sickness whatsoever and knew how to navigate the hilly roads of Paso)!! I cannot begin to express how AMAZING Rick and his drivers were for our trip to Paso Robles. It was truly unmatched. Rick helped us coordinate every step of the way our entire weekend including helping us make reservations, recommending places to eat/shop/get takeout. Some of the wineries we wanted to go to were booked out and he made it happen anyways. We had not been to Paso before and Rick asked what we liked and made recommendations in wineries he thought we would like and he hit the mark on each stop! Day of the drivers were prompt to pick us up came prepped to navigate and play music while we drove, they checked us in to each reservation and reminded us when we had to get going and checked in on us during out tastings to take pictures and see if we needed anything. It took all the stress out of planning/coordinating the day for us. They were also lovely people to chat with while we were driving from winery to winery. On our last stop we had ordered takeout from a local italian restaurant to be picked up so we could eat back at the airbnb and they went to pick it up for us while we enjoyed the tastings. We had a larger group of 10 people (so two cars) and after each tour they would come pick up the wine we had purchased and loaded it into the car and pulled up to pick us up at the front of the wineries each time. It was seriously VIP service all around. Also every review I read of Rick spoke of his wife's amazing brownies she makes for each tour and they were not joking. We wrapped up our last winery drinking a glass of wine with, I swear, the best brownies I have ever had. Needless to say I would never go to Paso Robles without utilizing Rick's services. We went wine tasting with Rick on July 12 and it was a wonderful day. He arrived exactly on time, was very courteous and easy-going. He drove our vehicle very safely and even was sweet with our dog that we brought along for the adventure. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the wine, and suggested an amazing day of wineries. We hit a couple familiar favorites of ours (Turley and Justin) and he introduced us to a new favorite - even arranging a special food and wine pairing, at Copia. We even became members we liked it so much. At each stop he ensured the plentiful amounts of wine we bought were properly cooled in the car in fridge bags he brought and made sure the car did not get too hot (it was 90's that day so didn't want the wine to spoil!) After 5 wineries and a lovely lunch, we were brought safely back home. We will absolutely be using Rick again the next time we are in Paso Robles - and next time are looking forward to exploring more of the 200+ wineries he has been to in the area. I have to be honest...I have never been a wine enthusiast, but after spending quality time with Rick during our winery tour, I think I can easily become one. I have been coming to Paso Robles to enjoy the wineries since 2008. I have used a number of drivers over the years and Rick is one of the best.
