The bad :- we booked a full VIP day incl a balloon ride as my wife hasn't had the joy of that yet. The sad thing wad the area was fogged in early so no balloon. The good :- the day out with the WW Captained by Steve. He picked us up on time, apologized and took us down to San Louis Obispo for breakfast. We had a look around the mission there, drove up the coast to Morro Bay then through the bird reserve in time to hit the first winery. We came with a conceived list of wineries on the west and the east and Steve made polite suggestions where we were smoking something and added a couple of gems along the way. Interestingly, the three best wineries we went to on the two days we were here were not recommended outside of local knowledge and Steve honing in on what we like. We didn't get to a huge amount of wineries as the pace here is very laid back and not a conveyor belt tasting experience which really helped put us into a relaxed wine comma. All in all my wife and I loved the day, it was nice to both taste wines and I even got a laugh at the end when my wife felt out of the hummer (apparently the gravel caused it) ... I think my post was deleted from the owners and don't want you to know of their lack of customer service both in the office and out on tours. I booked for my honeymoon and was ecstatic to do another wine tour! We love wine and exploring different places. We arrived at the meeting point, and meet the driver, he was very friendly and mentioned we were the only o es on the tour as others canceled. He was very informative about the area and was nice to learn more about the town since we had never been. We got to our first tasting. (SummerWood) everyone was very nice! Loved the ambiance! We sat down and the driver sat down with us. I have done wine-taking tours before and they don't sit and talk to you only appear when the time to leave or make sure we are ok or need anything. Time passed he was still talking our ears off. Then he goes on to tell us about his first wife and how she had a horrible car accident and was deployed out of the car and doctors said she would have great depression and die of brain injury. Then he one day had to take her to the ER and she was threatening to get out of the moving car while he was driving. He then told her to get out of the car while it was moving. That was uncalled for and very abusive. Now I know everyone does their best in situations but that was gaslighting and abusive. My mood went from bliss to depressed and frustrated. I am a survivor of domestic violence and my x is a narsacist. I immediately emailed the wine tour company saying that I was uncomfortable and he is not leaving us alone. I went inside the winery to get snacks, I came back and he was still there! I felt obliged to offer him food. A winemaker manager came by to tell is about the winery and process. My husband said we got married the day before and the manager said oh you missed out! In the reception they pin money on the brides dress. I said I have never heard that! He said you didn't know? All Mexicans do it. I said I am not Mexican I am Colombian American. Then he says... Oh so you have cocaine? I was even more livid and did not want to make a scene. I called the winery after my honeymoon and spoke to manager. We went off to the next wine tasting, while my husband was the restroom I was talking to the host and asked me if I like to sit inside or out? I said out please. There was there spots, the driver was still with us and said he wanted to sit in the middle of porch. I said I want to sit in the corner next to the tree. My husband came back, the driver was still there talking now about how he met his first wife. Did not leave is till last 5 min!!!! I emailed the winery after our honeymoon. Was not empathetic and said your says people will talk to you. Yeah I understand, I been in several wine tours and they are not shaperones! Specially in someones honeymoon! He was a complete mood killer. I asked for a refund or if they had another destination to make up for it and owner was not accommodating. All he wants is money and does not care about customers. I do not support this company or recommend it. I have attached screen shots of emails. And tried to be nice but, when you are nice and hot heard you have to act like a bitch to get your point across. read more

An excellent adventure!! Found this wine experience online. The site has videos that describe the service and are very informative. Booked for 6 Sep to pickup in San Simeon. Our host/Driver Zabrina "Z" was very sweet and informative. She was early and waited a few minutes for us. She has a great handle on the region and wineries. We gave her suggestions of were we wanted to go and she recommended other. Her recommendations were too choice! Even had tapas and cheese plates which our tastings. We had one other couple on board and got along great. Z was flexible and friendly the whole day!! This trip was my first time ever wine tasting so I was very curious about the whole wine process and Tony did a fantastic job answering all of my many questions! He was super friendly and fun and made my first wine tasting experience one to remember. He is definitely passionate about wine and very knowledgeable so make sure to ask him anything that comes to mind (he even came up with some Paso dinner suggestions for us). Though we were running a tad late, he easily shifted the schedule so that we were still able to get to where we needed to be and I did not feel as if we had to rush to the next stop which I really appreciated. Be aware of cancellation fees! We cancelled four days in advance and they still charged $ 30 for the cancellation. Supposedly it said so in the fine print (who has time to read that?), but it did not spell it out in the confirmation. They did offer to changed the date 1 x gratis, but that did not work for us. There response was "If you did not read them before checking the T&C box (see your reservation confirmation) to complete your reservation, please do not blame us." That to me is not smart customer service. We do not recommend them. read more

Excellent service! We were a family group in town for a reunion. The wine wrangler set appointments for us at 4 different wineries and kept us on track. Our driver carried the purchases back to the van and kept all the orders organized. She provided an ice chest of cold water and pointed out different interests along the way. I did not have a good experience with the Wine Wrangler. The Wine Wrangler tour I booked was advertised as a "social tour" and their most popular one. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour which was totally fine! But the Wine Wrangler people called me TWICE beforehand to confirm the tour, and neither time I spoke with them did they mention that it would just be the two of us on what was supposed to be a "social tour" (but they recommended what we should eat for breakfast the day of the tour?)... At the beginning of the tour our guide had a misunderstanding on the number of wineries we were supposed to visit, so that was not a great start to the tour. Our guide eventually resolved the issue and was helpful. Overall the wine tour was definitely NOT worth the price! The wine tour van was not nice at all and the lunch that was provided was small and mediocre. No wine tasting fees were included... so it feels like we basically paid a lot just to rent an old van that took us to some wineries. I have done three other wine tours with different companies and this one was my least favorite by far. read more

Our guide Paulie was outstanding, he listened to our experience and preferences then taylor made our day to match our wine enthusiasm to perfection. Hands downs, we had the most enjoyable and informative wine tasting tour we've ever had. I met Tony by happenstance while he was dropping off a group at our hotel. I just had a good feeling talking to him. So, without research, I scheduled an all day tour for the following day. For once, my intuition was correct. Before the tour Tony made a sincere effort to get to know us and what we had hoped to experience on his tour. We enjoyed four fabulous wineries and had a wonderful lunch provided by Tony. Tony also boxed a cared for the wines we purchased. In all, Tony was extremely thoughtful and engaging. He has a vast knowledge of the wineries and the vintners in the Paso Robles area. We are looking forward to return visit in the very near future just to continue our adventure with our new friend, Tony. read more

This is the best touring company! I've done Napa, Temecula and now Paso Robles. This is by far the best touring company! Our guide Paula was so sweet and knowledgeable! If a winery was closed, she quickly took us to another one. No time was wasted! She gave us history of the area and made sure we had a wonderful experience. The company must take clients to the same wineries and as a loyalty gesture, they appear to give you an extra pour or two. Paula also ensured the wine we purchased stayed cool (it was a hot weekend). The wine wrangler provided us a delicious lunch! Again, I can't say enough about the costumer service and especially Paula! Also the bright yellow hummer and very spacious! If you are looking for a touring company, go with the Wine Wrangler! I know we will be using them again very soon! read more

When I lived in the Bay Area, my visits to the wineries in Sonoma were ALWAYS as a designated driver. So, for my birthday this year, a friend booked us on a wine tasting tour with Wine Wranglers. Our driver/guide (Heather) was not just prompt, but early. She was friendly, outgoing and proved to be a great hostess who made sure that our group had a most excellent experience. She made sure the van was stocked with water and even made sure that all eight of us in our group had a variety when it came to lunch. She was attentive and caring after my friend had a little too much to drink. We were able to visit the following wineries: Donati, Veris, SummerWood, Tobin James and Mitchella. She was able to get our group into the last two wineries after she already accommodated us by altering the itinerary she had initially laid out for us. She made sure we all had a good time and I will say that thanks to her, my first wine tasting tour was memorable and already has me in my head planning my next visit. You can be sure that I'll be requesting Heather as our guide. read more

We have used this company on our visits to Morro Bay, CA several times over the past fifteen years for guided tours for wine tasting through the local wineries. Our latest trip, 9/8/20, was a blast! Our guide, Pauli, was on time to pick us up at our hotel, was very personable, extremely knowledgeable about the wineries, and the local history. We visited four places and had a wonderful included lunch on the patio at Pear Valley Winery. My wife and I are already planning our next visit with some friends and family. You cannot go wrong with this company. read more

I bought a package deal from Amtrak, and they set us up with this company. Excellent choice!! We arrived at Paso Robles 1am and Wine Wrangler had a driver waiting for us. They drove us to our hotel. Very nice and professional driver. 8 am Saturday, Dick from Wine Wrangler picked us up from the hotel. He drove us to the Hearst Castle information center. Afterwards he drove us around and pointed out many sites. The best tour guide!! read more

The Wine Wrangler was amazing!!! Paulie was our guide and was extremely knowledgeable with wines and the wineries in the area. He made it so much easier for us because we'd never been to Paso before and didn't know of many wineries in the areas. He took is to ones that he liked and recommended and suggested. Each employee at each winery we went to was welcoming to him and knew him by name. He suggested wines that he liked at each location. He was willing to take us to the one winery we were interested in. The wine van was also good because they only booked another couple with us, so it wasn't like a large touring bus. 10/10 would recommend! read more

My two friends and I decided last minute to do a wine tour. We called on Sunday night and were given information by Cynthia. She said there were openings for half day Monday, $69. We said we would call her back after we decided. When we called the next morning she immediately remembered us and booked us for the 2-5p half day tour, which included 3 wineries of our choice. She was accommodating and gave us the option to pay cash at pick up or with a credit card over the phone. We were picked up in downtown by Jan, who was so sweet and friendly! She began asking us the types of wine we liked, and being relatively new to wine tasting, we let her know we were open to any wineries. Our first stop was Paso Port. We paid $5 there for 6 wine tasters. Regular price is $10, but with The Wine Wrangler, it was half off. If you like ports, this is the place to go. It was too sweet for my liking but the service was great and Jan used this info to take us to the next stop. We went to Croads and fell in love with the beautiful view. Since we came with Jan we had no tasting fee and tried 6 different wines. My friends and I bought a bottle of the Sauvignon Blanc. So good! The owner and his wife were there and chatted with us for a bit. They were very nice and gave us so much information about the wines we tasted. I definitely recommend going here! Our final stop was Rotta. Our fee was waived here again since we came with Jan. We tried 6 wines and I bought a bottle of the 2013 Red. It's the 2nd oldest vineyard in Paso and you can tell they take pride in making these amazing wines. On our way back to downtown, we asked Jan to recommend a restaurant for us. She suggested Fish Gaucho. (It was a hit!) Jan made sure to label all of our bags of wine too. We thanked her and gave her a big hug for giving us such a wonderful experience. This was my first trip out to CA where my friend grew up, so we signed up for a wine tasting tour with The Wine Wrangler. Our guide Tony did not disappoint. Every vineyard we went to said, "Oh, Tony's the best!" and they were right. He was knowledgeable about the Paso Robles region, the vineyards there, and all without being condescending or pretentious- which, to be honest, I was worried about. We had a blast w/ four others on the tour- they picked us up right at our hotels. It was mellow, fun, and the wine was amazing. Tony did a nice job with the itinerary, and was open to suggestions if there were places we wanted to visit, but we stuck with his choices and it was worth it. Most of the vineyards will waive the tasting fee if you buy (which I did at some) but many also waived the fee because we came with Wine Wrangler. If you plan on doing a wine-tasting in Paso Robles, definitely check this place out. read more

History

Established in 2004.

After residing in Paso Robles for almost a decade, Coy and Sarah Barnes turned their passion for wine, entertaining, and the rural countryside into a thriving little tour company called "The Wine Wrangler". The Wine Wrangler was created on August 3, 2004 as Paso Robles' first, authentic wine tour company. Within a year the couple wanted to create an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the Paso Robles wine tasting experience throughout the year, in the comfort of their own homes. They created the first and only wine club featuring Paso Robles wines and took their family business to whole new level. Coy, an educator and winemaker, grows his own zinfandel, cabernet sauvignon, and syrah on the family's property in Paso Robles. When he's not escorting visitors through the wine country, he'll be rustling up wines from some of his favorite Paso Robles wineries and sharing them with the world through his Paso Robles Wine Club.

When I booked with John, I told him what we wanted in our experience and he nailed the wine recommendations and wineries! John was fun, informative and prompt. Cannot recommend his service enough! Second and most importantly, I wanted to thank Toast Tours for a wonderful and memorable experience, from beginning to end. My Wife and I were making our first visit to the Central Coast, and decided that visiting some local wineries would be a nice way to get more acquainted with the area. I liked some of the reviews I had seen on Yelp regarding Toast Tours, as well as watching a a few quick YouTube vids before contacting them. From the very start, Kristina was a huge help. Thank you again. I conveyed some of what were looking to do on this trip, as well as our past experiences in Napa and Sonoma. Kristina did a masterful job of giving us options. Some more mainstream and like we have experienced before, as well as some smaller, boutique style options. Every question, she had an answer and suggestion for, and when we decided to book, I was confident in our choices. Toast Tours also takes care of the reservations, so that's one less thing to worry about as well. We chose to visit three wineries; Tablas, DAOU, and Ciento. All three were an amazing experience (I'll write more about those individually on their pages). I do want to highlight Ciento, however. This was a direct recommendation from Kristina, and they really stole the show. We would have never known or visited this wonderful winery if it wasn't for Kristina and Toast Tours. Our driver, Jimmy, was on time and extremely courteous. He has a wealth of wine knowledge, as well as local area knowledge, and he shared them in a fun and engaging way. He was a great help at each of the wineries, getting us in and out with our reservations, while also assising with our purchases. Thanks again, Jimmy!. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, and they provide water and some small snacks, if needed. Another thing I want to mention that was very nice as well is the price. While these types tours can be a bit pricey at times, I feel their rates are more than reasonable. Kristina itemizes everything beforehand, so there are no surprises. If you decide to make some small changes to the itinerary, Toast Tours will work with you, and give you the cost differential. Exceptional service from top to bottom, and I would gladly and confidently book with Toast Tours again..

He booked tastings at places we never would have found on our own, got us into super unique spots (including private homes where we met the winemakers!), and even surprised us with brownies. On top of that, he was clearly very well-connected and helped us get deals at multiple wineries. And God forbid any paying customer -- solo or not -- has a problem with a wine tour, for we can see the level of cordiality, care, and accountability they'll encounter *** The Wine Line discriminates against solo travelers and refuses to do business with them unless you agree to a hefty solo supplement -- for a shared tour! I was once a happy repeat customer, but when trying to book last year, a representative told me, word for word (see emails in photos), this: "We are currently not servicing single passengers due to the work required... your patronage is simply untenable, financially." Wow, my patronage is simply untenable. That's straight up greed with a dose of haughty nastiness. I've never heard anything like that before, ever, from any business, and I've dealt with some truly awful and shady businesses before. Also: want to bring your pup along? No more, and especially if you are traveling solo with one: "It's just a bit burdensome and financially a loss to accommodate a single... particularly with a dog." Wow, we're a bit burdensome too. This policy and this attitude is the opposite of the welcoming spirit I experienced from them before. If they're comfortable sidelining solo guests, I can't help but wonder what other corner-cutting decisions, surcharges, and greediness now lurks behind the facade they project on Yelp and on their website. I truly regret having given them a glowing review in the past. To anyone who heeded my previous advice and ended up deceived, I apologize. Avoid. We don't need to condone this behavior from ANY business.

Definitely recommend this tour company if you want to visit vineyards and leave the details to someone else.
