However, when I went to make the sale, they offered me $5100 less than the original offer. The vehicle was in amazing shape, but the manager explained that there were no circumstances where they would actually pay the original offer amount, as that was from a marketing company and their "valuation tool" indicated it was not worth nearly so much. After this extremely time-consuming and frustrating experience, I was skeptical when I received a fair offer from Carvana the next day. it was less than the original offer from the dealership but considerably more than the lowball number. I was honestly expecting a similar experience, but it was a night and day difference. They were polite, on-time and quickly reviewed my vehicle. I was on my way with a check for the original offer amount in under 15 minutes. Could I have made more on the sale if I sold it to a private party? Sure. But that's the nature of selling to a dealer, and I couldn't be happier.
