Prism is such a neighborhood gem! The ambiance is cozy and warm and truly feels like a scratch kitchen, which it is! The lovely staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and where they source their ingredients. Our server Josue was just delightful, as was sweet Britt! It's so heartwarming to have a local spot that is welcoming, inclusive, healthy, and delicious. I had the buttermilk biscuit with housemade jam, and let me tell you, I want that biscuit every morning. My friends had the toad in the hole and loved it. Note that they serve breakfast in the morning on weekends and then they switch to the lunch menu! Since they source their ingredients locally, I'd recommend arriving sooner rather than later since they sometimes run out of items. The space is also cozy so another reason to arrive earlier to make sure you get a seat. Also, note it takes a bit of time to prepare some of the dishes, but it's worth the wait! You can tell this place has a loyal following. I think folks go for the healthy alternatives to most restaurants. I'm sure I could appreciate it over time. The day I went, it was crowded and I felt a bit on my own to try and figure out the menu and the draw. I had a sandwich and one of their teas. All good! I'll definitely go back at a less busy time. I got familiar with Prism Cafe when they were at Big Bite. They had options & they were good. Seeing that they got a location not too long after that was good to see. The Evan was something I had in mind for a while & I got to try it out. I was slightly heartbroken because I thought the tape on the menu indicated the sandwich was sold out when really the bagel wasn't available. The Evan (which is named / made after Tulsa comedian / legend Evan Hughes) has turkey, havarti cheese, aioli, pepperoncini, cornichons, microgreens & js usually on an everything bagel, they ran out so they put it on a baguette (which was still good & made me want to see how it really is with a bagel). When I bit into the sandwich, there was no escaping the aioli. It went well with the havarti & there was plenty of turkey. What made me happy the most was the greens included (I'm real big on greens). I wanna come back for the brunch. There was a pancake that comes in a skillet. This is an amazing addition to The Heights. The place has such an unassuming and homey ambiance. There's some limited seating outside and more seating available inside along a bar and some tables as well. The menu isn't very extensive but the options they have are impeccable. They have some breakfast and lunch options with a special brunch menu available on Sundays. You can make a reservation on their website. It's a farm to table concept and the ingredients used are super fresh and everything is made from scratch. The simplicity in their dishes is surprisingly full of flavor. For breakfast, you can't go wrong with their buttermilk biscuits. Their cinnamon buns are fluffy and not overwhelmingly sweet. The tomato, truffle burrata and pesto salad was hands down my favorite. Every bite was absolutely delicious. Finally, their BLT was the first sandwich I've liked in a while. Highly recommend. I'll be coming back to try their brunch for sure. Finally, they have great teas available, including a botanic sparkling tea line that I'm obsessed with. They also have a variety of products for sale towards the restroom. We had a large group of eight and we were able to sit and eat together since we got there right when it opened at 11, they got slammed shortly after so I'm so glad we got there early! This place is in a really cool location and offers really interesting dishes that are competently considered. The issue with this restaurant lies in its operational inefficiency. On numerous occasions I found myself waiting for inordinate amounts of time to be served dishes that were made from an assortment of premade options. Apart from one or so kitchen hands, the front-facing workers seem to buzz around with an air of confusion and disorganization. Where this leaves the customer is you end up apologizing for their incompetence; mostly serving yourself; and frustrated by the fact that an hour or more has passed to get something to eat. To make matters worse, the staff felt no pressure to remedy the broken trust. Worse yet, service and food is paid for at the front end, leaving you no real ability to make your tip commensurate upon service. Thus muddying the customer-feedback process. How will they learn to be better? Perhaps they just do not want to know the bitter truth. 3/5. Go on a day when you have a lot of time to spare and a high threshold for patience. read more
