One of the best parts was the playground they've got a really nice setup for all ages, which made it easy to let him burn off some energy. The gift shop is also really cute and fun to look through, and there's a snack/restaurant area if you need a quick break or something to eat. Overall, it's a great spot for a family day and we'll definitely be coming back again.

That is a great break for the family after long walks to just kind of slow the pace of the zoo down. One thing that I don't enjoy quite as much is the long stretches between exhibits I know that they've been working on this. But just at the zoo it is very easy to get overheated and exhausted because it is very spread out not a lot of trees around and just a very large distance sometimes between exhibits So you're definitely gonna wanna bring plenty of water and if you have kids bring a stroller or something that has shade so that way they don't get more out super easy. We also got the chance to go to the zoo like Full thing fun cool little games to walk-through and play at it cuts the zoo in half and you are able to walk-through and just play a few cool games along the way. They are not any animals out so it is just solely there for you too bring your kids and play a few games and see some lights we were under the impression that it would be both you could go and see some animals at night and play the games.

Staff was very friendly, kind, and helpful to me. They will let you back by yourself to look at dogs if you're wanting to, and will quickly guide you if you want to look at a specific dog. The dog we adopted is healthy, taken care of, and has no behavior issues. Shelters can be a lot for dogs and he has mellowed out a lot since he's gotten home. Please don't let the shelter personality sway you away from adopting. The shelter is very overwhelming for these dogs. TAS neutered the dog we adopted, gave him all of his shots, gave him heartworm medication and gave us the next months worth, gave him flea/tick medication, and sent us home with antibiotics just in case he started showing symptoms of kennel cough (he never did). All for FREE! Even adoption fee was WAIVED! I paid nothing! Facilities are just okay. Hoping the new building will be better. If you are wanting to look at a dog, they have the option to take them outside and put them in a concrete run for you to meet them. Please save a life and adopt here. I have nothing bad to say.

We moved to Tulsa in December '23, with a 6 year old, Czech import German Shepherd that we'd had for a few months. She had been used for breeding, required a C-section, and was no longer useful to the breeder. As a rescue, the breeder was familiar with us (we own her daughter), so he contacted us and surrendered her to us. We had her thoroughly vetted when she arrived in Oklahoma. After a few weeks in our home we contacted our trainer and got her into training as soon as possible. She was sweet and a good member of our pack, but largely unsocialized. When we brought her home it was time to address the last step in preparing her for her new life in our home, having her spayed. We made an appointment with Dr Thomas. After anesthetizing her the doctor tried to call us to tell us that she had a spay scar. When we called him back we discussed the c-section scar and decided to wait a week or so and start over. When we picked her up we found that while he had her anesthetized, he decided to perform surgery on her eyelid for some small defect I had not even noticed and we had not approved. I wish I had seen the red flag. Two weeks later we dropped her off to be spayed. We called to see if she was ready to be picked up and were told to wait until five. I walked over to pick her up a little before five and immediately noticed that she looked unstable. Her gums were pale and I asked if I should run her to Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists. Dr Thomas said no, took her back into his office and started IV fluids. After wasting what turned out to be the last 30 minutes I had to save her, he sent us home with a vet tech carrying the IV bag. I helped the still unstable dog. When we got to the door the vet tech gave me the IV bag and we've never heard from them again. After observing her for a couple of minutes I put her in the car and raced to OVS, calling to let them know the situation and that we were headed their way. Dr Hodges, who has helped us many times in emergencies, stayed and waited for us, rushing us in when we arrived. He worked on her for another 30 minutes. She coded twice and was unable to be revived a second time. She died of blood loss from internal bleeding. Dr.Thomas or his office never called to see how she was. We filed a complaint with the State Board. Imagine the State Board of Veterinary Medicine being unresponsive in the State of Oklahoma. Would you expect anything else? If you love your pet, stay away from Dr Chet Thomas and City Veterinary Hospital at 36th and Peoria. I wish we had. We obviously live close by and every time I see that building I feel sad and angry all over again.

I am 74 years old and my wife and I got a dog less than a year after we were married and have had many dogs since then. We have had this maltese about 10 days and I don't remember being so thrilled with a dog. This one had no sense of what it meant to be a dog. She had not had a bath for the first 3 years of her life, she had never been on grass before, she had never been cuddled or loved. A week later, she has learned that outside is a marvelous place to be, she goes out there to go pee and poop. She has become my dog and jumps up in my chair and she has only done that the last couple of days. We took her to the groomer and he bathed her, cut the hair out of her face, did her toenails, and did that anal thing. By that time she was too stressed to really cut her hair so she came home with us. We are going to take her back and get her hair cut next week. The people at the Tulsa Humane Society were just wonderful and helped us through the whole thing. This is probably the last dog I will ever get, but I am extremely pleased with this one. Thanks THS for rescuing this dog so that I can have her. By the way, her name, and this is the first name she has had, is Ava Leigh. She is a beauty.

I recently adopted a puppy from The Tulsa Humane Society who was attending an adoption at Glove…read moreLife Park in Arlington last Saturday. On Monday the puppy was a little lethargic. Tuesday evening he had a runny stool and threw-up Tuesday night. I was at my local Veterinary the first thing Wednesday morning where I found out the puppy tested positive for parvo. I am a disabled veteran who was adopting this dog to replace my current service dog. So far, this experience has done the complete opposite of the reasoning behind having a service dog. Not only has my family and myself been effective negatively, but my current service dog allowed a puppy to come into her home and now was suddenly removed for treatment. Unfortunately I had not even had time to add this puppy to my insurance plan. As of now we have paid $751.20 that covers his hospital stay through tomorrow. If he needs to stay longer the cost is $110 per day after that (not including extra or unforeseen medical needs). I think that would be a small price to pay for some extremely positive publicity. I need your decision quickly as I am a disabled veteran and have a fixed income. I look forward to your prompt reply. Update. Tulsa HS contacted me and advised I could pay for treatment out of pocket I already have) or they would come pickup the dog and treat him, If I relinquish the dog back to them (I live 4 hours from them). I have decided to keep the dog as the second option is not the right thing to do. All I wanted was to be helped with the medical bill that is saving this dogs life and to let the Tulsa HS know their dogs were testing positive for Pravo. I understand a contract was signed but one does not expect a puppy, who is supposedly up to date on shots, need to be taken to the vet for a life threatening illness within days of taking them home. I just want you to be aware how Lawrence decided to treat a disabled veteran and his future service dog. I hope everyone involved who had dogs anywhere near the adoption that took place at Globe Life Park on Saturday 7-29-2023 take precautions so this is contained.
