Truth be told, I had low expectations prior to coming here, but it exceeded my expectations. It was very busy on Sunday around lunchtime. The vibe was super casual and buzzing. I had the breakfast burger, which was essentially a basic burger with hash browns and an egg on top. First of all, it was a decent-sized burger; you will not be hungry afterwards. Second, the hash browns gave it a nice crispy mouthfeel after you bite into it. Third, I will say this is a comfort burger, so if you're expecting it to be a gourmet or greasy, high-end burger, this isn't it. That said, it did exceed my expectation and I thoroughly enjoyed this comfort burger even though it's not the typical type of burger I'd consume. The tots I ordered with it were pretty good. Since moving close to this location we have wanted to try it. We were sat immediately when we walked in. Our server was really nice, polite and friendly! She had a genuine smile! We ordered catfish and chicken fried steak. Y'all, let me tell you something... they know how to fry catfish... with cornmeal!!! That is how it's done! We are on our annual family vacation back to my family's home in Oklahoma. So my wife, our daughter,& I arrived in town last night and it's our tradition to go out to breakfast on the 1st morning we are in town. This year we decided to try out Apple Barrel Cafe. What a great decision!! I chose the Farmer's Stuffed Crepes. Overall, once again it was good decision (but looking everyone else's food, everything looked delicious). My Crepes and eggs were fluffy and cooked to perfection. The veggies were intergrated with theveggs leaving them slightly sauteed or others say al'dente (YUMMY). THE only disappointment is considering we are in Oklahoma I would expect some kind of meat in the crepes. I have to say our service was top notch! Our server Robbie deserves special recognition for her customer service and her honesty about what meals she likes and she nothing bad to say about anything we asked about on the menu. When we walked in we immediately felt we were in a country cafe. It was a homey cozy atmosphere. The decor was fun with a few Halloween decorations up too. We got seated right away and our waitress was there to order our drinks immediately. She was very friendly and attentive. We were in a group of 4 and did not have to wait long at all for our hot food. My daughter had the burrito and ordered ranch with it. She was impressed with the taste and the waitress informed us it is made "in house". I had the Sunrise Special with scrambled eggs and cheese, crispy bacon and hashbrowns. Of course toast with butter a jelly too. I couldn't help but get an added pancake. The pancake was huge and larger than most. Oh and did I say yummy too?! I was told I could sit where I I wanted even though all the signs say wait to be seated. I picked the bar area because I was placing a Togo order. The waitress brought me a menu right away and gave me a few minutes to look over it. I was looking forward to a delicious burger and fries but was very disappointed. I ordered the patty melt add bacon. There was little to no flavor and it came on rye toast with Swiss and grilled onions I don't know how it didn't have flavor but it did not. One piece of bacon, barely any cheese and not enough onions that I even noticed they were on the burger. I ordered the bacon pepper jack burger for my husband and he had to add cheese at home because there was only a little dab of melted cheese in the middle. He was not impressed with his burger. I didn't care for the fries, the tots were well done and that's okay because I prefer them that way but didn't taste fresh. The bar was dirty when I arrived but someone could have just left (I didn't see anyone leaving). I will not be back and I was hoping for a great experience because it's only 5 min from me. read more

as soon as i walked in, i was greeted. i took a spot at the bar-too and every person working helped me at some point for my first time experience! i definitely ordered the wrong item (didn't read the description all the way), but the food came out lickety-split. this little cafe gave me a piece of comfort that i didn't know was missing. i'll be back in the future, probably with a jacket though. great job everyone! keep it up! read more

I don't know WHY this restaurant has a 3.5 star (should be 5) but when we walked in , there were no seats but 1 that needed to be cleaned up so one of the staff said they will be right there and as soon as we sat down , they were there to clean it up .. They are very friendly & fast (which we so appreciate) . The food is great (had omelettes) , big portions And reasonably priced . Please check this place out .. you won't be disappointed! Cleaning floors and chairs with Pine-sol during eating hours makes for very unpleasant smile. Wife's breakfast California omelet was very well done! Sorta like your grandmothers fried eggs, crispy burnt around the edges! Dry! Didn't get potatoes as requested. Hash browns instead. My two eggs over easy had one yolk broken and it ended up well done. My hash browns were not well done at all. Did I tell you the place was clean? Real clean, like while you ate clean! I am still very impressed with the food and service at this apple barrel (Original location). The waitresses at this location are more warm and lot friendlier (not dry). Great neighborhood gem. Food and service exceeded expectations for a little diner in Oklahoma. I had a veggie crepe and it was fantastic. Ample veggies, well cooked, and a delicious hollandaise. A table nearby was even jealous that they didn't order my dish because it looked so good. My friends ordered breakfast chicken fried steak and the portion was huge. The food here reminds me of the comfort food I used to eat as a kid. The chicken fried steak and open faced roast beef are the best!! You can never go wrong with anything from their breakfast menu. Maybe it's because I'm in my early 20s and this place looks like it belongs in the early '20s, but I'm not a fan. Nothing about it makes it stand out from any other run of the mill diners. I have eaten here for over 10 years and the food has always been great American comfort food. Sometimes the seasoning needs a little help, but good food. The breakfast, which is always available is very good, the ham is great, the sausages are very good , good fried potatoes. You would have really work hard to find a place that gives you this much good food at very reasonable prices. read more

The food was okay, but there was only one waitress for the backroom and it was Sunday brunch time. We never got refills on our coffee and after delivering our food we were never approached by a staff member. The table was sticky when we sat down to top it all off.
