I stopped at this place because I had a sweet tooth. They have a lot of wonderful, handmade pastries, especially the pop tarts. You can definitely tell they were made fresh. The customer service was pretty OK. I just wish that my items were bagged up a little bit better than just in a sack, where all of my pastries were on top of each and breaking up. I feel like I need to try this place again and order some different things. I went there to study and the vibes were cool. Not too busy or loud. I got the chicken bacon ranch panini and it was good. Nothing crazy but it did the job. I asked the cashier if their matcha was good and she said she didn't really know and she'd never had it. I took a risk and ordered it. This is the cutest coffee shop! I popped in at 8am and it was empty. I ordered and had my coffee right away. I tried a seasonal pumpkin chai latte, and it was incredible. I had such a delicious lunch here today they have a BBQ chicken pinnini lunch special, and it was so flavorful. The chicken is shredded, and it has roasted red peppers and bread and butter pickles. The BBQ is served on the side, but it was good even without it. The bread was so good and crispy. Service was friendly, and the place was not at all crowded. It was clean with plenty of space. I went back again and this time I tried a Panini it was really good, small but the homemade bread makes it my friend got the breakfast Panini and really liked it. I think it's great you can get a breakfast Panini anytime of day and the fact that they're open 7 AM to 10 PM is huge. my friends and I went and played cards Tuesday night and had a great time. When you walk in, it's an order at the counter but still had plenty of tables and seating for dining in. I had their iced cold brew and the almond butter toast. My expectation for a good cup of coffee is very realistic and minimal. The cup of liquid should have a detectable coffee flavor. If it is a mocha both coffee and chocolate flavors should be distinct. And lastly if it is a hot drink it should be.....hot. A low threshold of acceptability that a third grader can achieve with a jar of instant Folgers, a bottle of Hershey's, a small amount of milk and a counter top microwave. Unfortunately, Handmade failed in all areas. I ordered a mocha; my wife ordered a cappuccino and a big square of sugar cookie. I didn't see anything in the pastry case that looked appealing, so I went with an egg and bacon panini. We were given a pager. The staff never used it; we were never paged. I watched the counter. Two coffees were put out with my name on the cups. I walked up grabbed them and headed back to the table. One cup said mocha the other drip. My wife clearly ordered a cappuccino. I tasted of the mocha. No flavor. My wife tasted both cups. She said take the lids off and let's see if there is a difference. Not a cappuccino, but pale tasteless drip coffee with too much milk. My mocha was only slightly darker. Two large cups of flavorless warm milk. My wife chose to go get a bottle of water. I continued to watch the counter for the food. Two items were placed out that looked to be our order. No page notification and no one at the counter. Terrible service. But Handmade. The chunk of sugar cookie was nothing special. PTA bake sale quality. The panini was made with a preformed egg disk, three micro thin slices of precooked bacon, toasted in a panini maker. Handmade. While my wife had a few more bites of the cookie, I Googled other coffee shops in Broken Arrow. I still wanted a cup of coffee. Rise Grind and Ride on Main St. popped up. We left two full cups of coffee and half of the cookie on the table. I ate the convenience store quality Handmade $7 panini. I was hungry. The coffee is absolutely not recommended. The pastries are meh and the selection is limited. However, it might be a good place to bring the kids, get them all sugared up and then drop them off at grandmas. read more

This business is adorable and so, so needed in Broken Arrow. It serves a major gap in the area and has such great service. It offers coffee + food + a kids space in addition to the relaxing ambience and space for local vendors to offer products. I take my laptop to work, let the kids play (my kids are older and still love it), and get coffee and food as a bonus. I don't know the owner personally, but I've been several times and am shocked by some of the lower ratings I happened across while looking for a place to go for dinner. Ahh I really love the concept of Handmade Coffee -- focusing on whole ingredients and supporting local vendors. That's what drew me in originally! Unfortunately, the experience hasn't matched the idea. The customer service is lacking...most times when I walk in, I'm not acknowledged at all and overall the staff is rude. The coffee itself is very inconsistent depending on who's behind the bar. For example, I usually order a hot oat latte with an extra shot, but the baristas often seem confused by the request. Since the lattes already come with two shots, I've noticed sometimes they do four instead of three because the machine pulls doubles. On top of that, a hot latte should be hot, but more often than not, it's lukewarm at best. It feels like the baristas need more training and consistency -- both in making drinks and in customer interaction. Sadly, after giving this place several chances, I don't think I'll be returning. It's disappointing to spend $10+ each visit for coffee that's just "meh" read more

Came to Handmade for the first time excited to try their kombucha flight, on the menu for $15. The employee didn't seem to know what a flight was, and said they only offer bottled kombucha or the one kombucha they have on tap (listed on the menu for $7.) I asked what the flight is then, and she said that's just what they call their one kombucha? So I ordered a coffee instead. It was good, but I wasn't offered any size options or milk options. So looking forward to the opening day! We went in at 2:35 PM today and found there were no loaves of bread in the display case (empty spaces was probably where loaves were). Lots of tables and a line at counter of about 10 people. From the looks of the table tops, appeared they had a good turnout for lunch. Several display racks of apparent MIO products and a little nook for miscellaneous merchandise and a rack of customized shirts nearby. I've been here 3 times; first time, the coffee and bakery items were okay. Nothing special but not bad, ~$27 which seemed a bit expensive to me. The second time, I got banana bread which was very good; fresh with real pieces of banana. I also got a loaf of sandwich bread that was a bit dry but good overall. I went again today to try homemade pop tarts. However, I didn't get to try them. When we walked in, one employee was making a coffee order. The other one walked up to the pastry case and began filling it. We waited several minutes but neither if them took our order; the person filling the case looked at us each time she walked up the case but never once asked if we were ready to order/what we wanted. After about 5 min, we left. The pastries looked good but I wasn't going to wait all day. Had either of the employees said, "we'll be right with you" or "give us just a minute", I would've happily waited but being repeatedly disregarded doesn't sit well with me. I will go back one day, probably soon, but I hope the customer service improves. read more

Since we moved close by, we decided to try out Handmade. My wife and I were excited to have an establishment like this nearby as it brings back memories of when we used to date. The first few visits were pretty good, normally we stop by in the morning for paninis. The service is always pleasant. However, this evening (April 2nd @ 7:45pm) my wife and I decided to treat ourselves to one of our favorite pastries they make. We parked and my wife went in to order. I was surprised that it didn't take her more than 2-3 minutes before she walked back to the car empty handed. I asked what happened, her words... "I walked in, not even a hello. The girl behind the counter saw me, I smiled at her, and she gave me this pouty face look like why am I there. So, I didn't say anything. She then turns her back and goes back cleaning her coffee machine. So I just walked out." I've been in the customer service world for over 15 years. I've noticed a trend in recent years within the service industry and it's frightening. I hate to see this happen at this establishment, but, it had to be addressed. read more

At first I thought the coffee tasted 'different' than most that I'd had, and not necessarily to my liking at first, but now it's one of my favorites. I drink it black, so you can really taste the differences. My one negative is that it's usually not quite hot enough for me, but they are always happy to heat it a little more. They have water cups and a water dispenser, and I like being able to drink some water too. They have gluten free peanut butter cookies that are awesome, and over sized, and they have packaged gluten free dessert options, but the other gf baked goods are plentiful, and look so enticing, that I wish they would make more of them in the gf option. The chocolate chip cookie and homemade pop tarts look so enticing, but aren't gf , and I'm a celiac, so I'm waiting for the day when hopefully they do. I have asked, but I always get the same answer: "We're still training our bakers". They offer food items on their menu, but we've never eaten there, so I can't comment to that. The atmosphere and decor are kind of rustic, and there is a kids area where parents can relax and talk and let their kids play, although that area gets quite noisy at times. It seems very family oriented. There are board games for people to use, and several vendors are represented by their product displays inside. It's close to us, so it's one of our most frequented coffee places. I would give it two more stars for more homemade gf dessert options, and a little bit hotter coffee. Price wise it's comparable to most places like it. I read one review that mentioned the heavy 'Jesus vibe', and I say bring it on- -we definitely need more 'Jesus vibe'.... read more

I have gone to Handmade the past few weeks to work from my laptop. The general ambiance is good. However, due to personal/religious reasons, I cannot drink anything with caffeine/coffee. I know they are primarily a coffee shop, but I was so happy to hear they offer sodas, too. Since I've been going to Handmade, the soda CO2 machine has been out several times. The employees are apologetic, but I feel like I still need to buy something to work from there. The food is all pretty pricey. I wish they had another non-caffeine beverage option besides milk if their machine continues not to work. Perhaps just a lemonade or fruit juice even. read more

I give this an A+++ for decor but service is lacking and prices are inflated. I got soup, a sandwich and a drink plus an elderberry syrup and paid $51. No chips or side with sandwich. Very loud as I happen to pick a day for a lunch meeting with a friend when the place was packed with what seemed like a jillion kids and their moms who were busy visiting while they were roaming. It was a little chaotic to say the least. I've been in a few times when it wasn't so crazy but the play area for kids definitely promotes a place for moms to hang out while kids play. Not conducive to work meetings or quiet coffee times. I also have found on the several visits that it is hard to get someone's attention to provide a menu and checkout if you are buying their market goods. Not a quick in and out to pick up pastries or market items. Really need to have a greeter who can explain the restaurant/store and help find products or check someone out who is not eating there. Need large menu for viewing or have multiple menus for people to choose what they want before they get to register. C- for customer service and based on today's surroundings a D for place to meet up for lunch that is relaxing. Food is very, very good so kudos to that.
