Towers of smoke were visible across the prairie from the controlled burns. The smoky heated gases escaping straight up for hundreds of feet, undisturbed by the calm air, then billowing out like a big shade tree as they cool to the elevation. The temperature is perfect. Everything is green, growing, getting what needs to be done before the blistering summer heat. A great day to take a scenic drive to Mandy's Café. It has been a couple of years. A big double burger like the last time, but with fries today. The burger is a meal itself; stay focused on it. There will be fries left behind. The best burger for 50 miles in any direction.
