I walked in and they had an immediate opening. I got Nu (I think this is how you spell her name) to do my nails. She did a pedicure. I really liked how thorough she was. They even do a bit of a hot stone after. I got a really light colored Essie Pink (see attached image). I tried to put it on my foot but it didn't take as well as I would have hoped. Luckily, I was able to tell Nu and she quickly removed my nail polish and found a suitable alternate with no complaints. I ended up getting a manicure. The Essie light pink looked better on the hand vs foot. She did a great job. My polish lasted for more than a week which is a real rarity. The only downside is the driers are pretty far from where they were doing my nails. They do accept Venmo with tip which added to the convenience.

Making an appointment this way was quick and easy and the communication through the messaging was good! I had high expectations and walking into the salon because this place is rated 4.5 stars but my excitement fell flat when I walked in the door and was approached (not greeted) by a woman asking me if I had an appointment, I said yes. I can't recall if she asked my name but she walked me to a manicure station and started the process to remove the dipping powder. Once my nails were wrapped, she instructed me to sit at another station. Minutes later, another woman completed the process and then cut and shaped my nails. She talked about what she was doing while shaping my nails and was more affable than the first woman I encountered. The atmosphere of the salon is dry and cold and did not feel "spa-like" at all... There was a tv on with closed captioning and the only sound that I remember hearing was chatter, which was a mixture of the technicians speaking amongst themselves and the conversation of some patrons (who I believe were teenaged girls). If I could, I would have rated this place 3.5 stars: 3 stars because I received the service that I wanted and they were able to accommodate me with short notice. The .5 is for the hospitable nature of the second woman who I encountered... I don't see myself returning.

After the pandemic I was very cautious of going to nail salon. Many nail places don't properly disinfect the pedicure tub and the jets , reuse of manicure instruments / nail files and products are put in reused plastic soap containers. Yuk! Most important, I want to relax, not wait in line and not be in a room with 50 people - super loud- people lined up next to you - no privacy. . I drive by my old nail place and can't imagine going back to a place like that no matter how cheap the cost. La Belle is busy with customers but I'm usually have 2 seats between me and the other customer. Relaxing instrumental soft music , no TV and no loud shouting across the room (lol). I found Simple Nails based off of a Google search, as it had the best reviews in the nearby Bryn Mawr area. I'm surprised it has none on Yelp yet! I've now been here about a half dozen times. The staff is EXCELLENT. The owner is sincerely one of the nicest humans, let alone nicest business owners! Plus who doesn't love to support a female owned and operated business. The employee that usually does my nails, her name is Mee (or maybe Mie? I'm terrible with names.) Both the owner and the employee remembers not just my face, but facts about me. This is because they are nice and they make conversation with me the whole time! This is def a rarity, and also it can be awkward with some places if they're just making polite conversation. But here, they really care about getting to know you. I've only gotten gel manicures, and one regular pedicure. My girl always takes SUCH good care of my nails. I swear she cares way more about making me look good than I care about it! The first time I came, my nails were the hottest mess and in complete disarray. Mee really took her time and took nearly an HOUR cleaning me up when anyone else probably would have just considered it a waste of time. My nails always look fabulous here! Facts: it's a bit of a smaller salon. They have like 6 pedicure chairs but only 4 or 5 for manicures. I always call ahead to make an appointment, and usually they say I can just come right over. But I would always suggest making an appointment/calling ahead to check. There is also parking behind the building. They do have a rewards card, so definitely grab that when you're here. The prices are higher than I'm used to, but it is a very nice area.

From day one, I have not been disappointed. I can understand why women drive from NYC and DC to see Mrs. Ken for their waxing needs. She gives the best waxing services in the mid-Atlantic. Mrs. Ken is detail-oriented, focused, professional, and extremely hygienic. And while her waxes are not painless, there is much less pain than any other professional I've been to in my life (I started getting waxed when I was 14, I'm 43 now). While working with Mrs. Ken she began to gently encourage me to try Maya for my manicures and pedicures. I resisted for a time and then finally gave in. From the first time Maya did my nails, I knew there was no going back. Maya is exceptional at her craft and is pleasant, charming, and creative. In almost 30 years of getting manicures, my nails have never looked better. Maya knows what she is doing and she does it so well. You want someone who gives exceptional service. Look no further than Maya and Mrs. Ken.

I called multiple times to see what was up with the phone ringing and then completely going to voicemail indicating she closed her phone. Maya did not inform Mrs. Ken of any possible circumstances that may have arisen to postpone my appointment. Moreover, I had to call Mrs. Ken to find out what was happening since Maya refused to call me back or send me a message. It was through Mrs. Ken that I found out that Maya: 1. She already spoke to me; 2. Already did my service; 3. Had confirmed all my information; and 4. Was being professional. If I had already done my service, why would I be there and waste over 30 minutes waiting for a response? It speaks volumes on Maya's professionalism that she deemed a client unworthy of the simple courtesy of corresponding with them and then lie to her employer. Emergencies happen and had I been informed I would completely understand but the fact that lying and making a client be left in the dark is incredibly disgusting behavior that is not appropriate. The upseting part is the fact that if someone can lie like that to their clients and employer, who can speak on the quality of the services offered? Perhaps I dodged a nail infection and I won't thankfully ever know. Mrs. Ken is very kind and nice. I felt bad interrupting her weekend due to this. To conduct business in the manner Maya has is unacceptable to both her and myself. It is truly unfortunate.
