So I just moved to Philly and all the reviews on nail shops were horrible! I decided to try this place out with a coworker and I was content! My tech was a little rough, but nothing not tolerable. Never going back! Had an appointment for two pedis on a Saturday. Arrived on time and was taken back to the pedi chairs to soak. Only one person working. Sat soaking in cold water for 45 minutes until she was able to start my pedi, as she was doing a manicure on someone else. My friend sat soaking her feet for another 15 minutes until a second person showed up to do hers. We were raisins! There were also two other women who walked in waiting for pedis a few minutes after us and they were told it would be a 20 minute wait - poor ladies sat waiting for well over an hour and a half. Pedicure was very rushed obviously and not well done. When we went to pay, we were told it was cash only even though there were no signs indicating that. We said we didn't have any and she reluctantly took our credit cards... very shady. Do not go here, as there are many other options on passyunk nearby! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would have. I had a broken nail that I needed repaired with dip powder. The woman doing it absolutely had no idea how to do it. She didn't know how to turn the light on, the buffer on , and made my nail way too thick. Then used the buffer to try and make it thinner and chipped the nail. Then had to cover it up with gel. It took 35 minutes to repair one nail. The final product looks terrible. Also when the other woman came to help the person doing my nail, the other woman was doing someone's pedicure and touched my hand after touching the other persons feet without washing her hands. It was nothing against the woman doing it. She obviously wasn't trained. When I walked in and said what I wanted they should have told me they had no one available and I could have came a different time. read more

My daughter and I visited the salon after a meeting at the nearby cafe. With a very hectic schedule that weekend, two weddings and the rehearsal dinner starting it all off that night, the decision to hop into the salon without yelping it was impromptu. Initially, the experience was pleasant and can say that Tiffany (young girl, very quiet) was my nail tech and good. Tracy started my daughter's nails and, although very charming, didn't listen when my daughter pointed out that one of the nail tips was very crooked. Basically said it will be fine once the actual acrylic was applied, etc. Tracy stepped aside to do a pedicure and her younger sister (I didn't catch her name) took over with the nail application. The new nail tech asked my 20 yo daughter if she was going to prom. Then asked if she was an only child. Said she could tell and called her spoiled. Overall, very condescending. That part should have tipped us off. Regarding the actual nails - oophf- the final result was the worst new set of acrylics I have ever seen. The nail polish was this textured formula which was hideous. But it wasn't the formula that was awful. Two of her nails were decidedly crooked and the shape was chunky and fat. My daughter had asked for the coffin shape. These were not. I think they took the name to heart because the nails looked like death. One that requires a closed casket. You would think the thick ugly nails were the worst part. Nope. My daughter after we left called the salon to find out how to get refunded because the nails were that bad. Whoever answered went to "get the manager" and hung up on her. She called back and they argued with her about policy. But here's the kicker - after going back and forth and arguing with her, they put A CLIENT on the phone to fight with her. A CLIENT. What the h*ll is that? The name of the salon is ironic. I wish it were possible to give less than 1 star. I've bee searching for a nail salon in my neighborhood that does Gel Nails. I called ahead to check if they did and they said yes. I asked if I needed an appointment and they mumbled and then hung up. Ok. Should have been my first warning. When I got there (4pm on a Friday) they had to buzz me in. Weird? There was hardly anyone in there. A man (I am presuming one of the owners) was going to do my nails. This place was disgusting. I should have walked out. As he started to remove my existing polish he was going through a NASTY drawer and pulling out NON-STERILE tools and going to town on my hands. He used dollar store lotion, did not clean up my cuticles, and had about 4 color gel colors to choose from. They looked like they fell off of the back of a truck. What brand was this? The paint job was the worst I have ever seen. My 5 year old sister could have done a better job. No filing, No shaping, nothing. Needless to say this is the most regretted $25 I ever spent. I came here with a friend of mine on a recommendation, but sadly I think we may have walked into the wrong place. As others mentioned, we had to be let in because they keep the front door locked. Odd. At first glance, it was dark and run-down looking inside, with everything haphazardly arranged. Not dirty - they clearly clean and sterilize their tools - just not particularly inviting. I saw neither a price list nor a sign that it was cash only. Maybe I missed it, but I think these things should be easy to spot. Others here have mentioned wine and massages but neither was offered to us. Onto the service. The woman who did my pedicure did an OK job scrubbing my feet, but the lotion she sparingly used left my feet feeling kind of dry, and I got no massage of any kind, not even a basic one. Then she went off to do an eyebrow wax, and someone else painted my toe nails (and did an awesome job). The first woman came back to give me a mediocre manicure and rushed through the polish and missed spots. That night the polish started to chip, and just a couple of days later and it looks a week old. The women here are pleasant, but a bit too chatty. I have no problem with someone being chatty if it's just me, but my friend and I were trying to have our own conversation and getting constantly interrupted with something totally unrelated. In the words of Bon Qui Qui: Rude! My experience here was by no means the worst possible experience once can have at a nail salon, but for $28 I can get a much better mani/pedi elsewhere. read more

The first time I came here was great, it was clean enough and the women were friendly and fast. The second time it took 2 hrs to have my nails filled. I came back again because I thought it was just a fluke. The next and last time I went the woman tried charging my debit card but said it didn't work, tried again, and then demanded that I leave and get cash out of the atm down the street. I came back and as I waited to pay, I checked my account to find out that she had charged me 3 times. I explained what happened and she still tried to get me to pay cash! They made me stay there saying they would have someone take the charges off, which never happened. I had to call my bank and explain the issue myself. I will not be coming back here. Love this place! I chose Professional Nails for my first pedicure ever on the recommendation of my roommate. Soothing foot bath, massage chair, and the owner even offers you wine! (The last time I went in, he said he didn't have any wine left and asked if I wanted a beer. I said sure, and he left the shop to go down the street and buy some!) For an extra $5, get the "spa pedicure" which includes an exfoliating lotion on your legs, and a calf/foot massage. As for manicures, I've only ever gotten the "gel manicure," where instead of polish, they paint your nails with acrylic gel and dry it under a UV light. Whereas a manicure with regular polish will chip after a couple days, a gel manicure stays perfect for almost 2 weeks before it starts to peel. I always leave this place perfectly relaxed, a little tipsy, and with cute hands and feet. read more

The girl who did work on my toes and fingers never once engaged me in conversation ( to be expected I guess), spent the entire time gossiping to her coworkers ( which honestly can make me feel a little uncomfortable), and at the end when I was trying to get her help to get wrapped up and get out I had to ask get to help several times (typically I expect the person who worked with me to spend some time helping with shoes and such so I don't mess up all their hard work). The friendliest moment of the entire time was when they said goodbye as I left. As I said, great work but not the friendliest service. read more

This place was bizarre. First, they have to buzz you in. (EPX is not a neighborhood where you need to be buzzed into a nail salon!) They also only accept cash. So first I knocked on the door to be buzzed in, realized they only accept cash, went to a mac machine and came back to be buzzed in again. Ughhhh... The pedicure itself was just okay. There are 2 or 3 chairs in the back. I am not the kind of person who wants to talk during my pedicure, but the young man who was working on me loved to talk. He kept asking me "if it felt good" and "do you like that?" WEIRD. Just do the pedicure and leave me alone. His attempt seemed half-hearted compared to the lady next to me being worked on by an older woman (his mother?) who was really massaging/scrubbing her feet. Very affordable and I really enjoy the staff here. The selection of gel colors is great and the pedicures include a hot stone massage. I have definitely found my go-to place in the neighborhood. The wait can get a little long during peak hours but it is worth it. The staff is polite and efficient (I'm not one for the mindless banter I can sometimes feel trapped into) and I love the strong massage and hot towel and stone! So I was really sketched out to try any of the nail salons in my new neighborhood because of the lack of reviews. I'm very happy that I tried Professional Nails. My hobbies are hard on my hands, so my manicures usually last 2 days tops before they're too chipped to keep. This manicure lasted 5 days, which for me is outstanding. My nail techs took their time and did a great job. They did my manicure prior to my pedicure, which gave my fingers extra time to dry, and probably elongated their lifespan. The shape is perfect, the polish ends tight and perfectly parallel to my cuticles. The place is a hole in the wall that has clean surfaces, and practices but dirty corners. It's small with 3-4 pedicure chairs, but I was able to get in and out on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment. I spent $30 on a regular manicure and pedicure. read more

First time getting a pedicure here. Granted it was Sunday am and I was the first one in, but Kelly did a very nice job. She took her time and was meticulous. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I'm not one to write reviews but I feel the need to express what poor service I had received today. This was my fourth visit to the salon. I came in to get a refill on my acrylics and to replace 4 I had removed. The woman who did my nails seriously rushed through the entire thing. I felt like I was an inconvenience as a customer. I think my entire total time in there was 20-25 minutes which is almost impossible to do with acrylic nails. I didn't feel relaxed. I truly felt like an inconvenience. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. Let me start off by saying I've been getting my nails done there every 2-3 weeks for at least 6 years. In those 6 years, Linda or tracy have been doing my nails. I always liked Tracy because she was fast. About 2 months ago, they had a different older lady do my nails. I didn't mind, I figured everyone was busy. She did them and they looked ok, not as nice as they usually do but they were ok. The very next day, the entire polish on one nail peeled off (I've never had this happen before) so i had to go back and get it repainted, Tracy tells me to only let her do my nails because not only need my GEL polish peel off but she didn't actually fill my refill all the way to my cuticle, which means I'd have to go back sooner. Two weeks later, I call and make an appointment with Tracy. I walk in and they make me sit in the older ladies chair again, at this point i was mad but I gave her another chance. (meanwhile Tracy went in the back room and painted her OWN toes). This time when the lady was done doing my nails, they were all crooked (which I've never seen before). I was obviously mad but I lived with it and left. That whole week, my GEL chipped and the corners peeled up and would get stuck on everything so i had to go back AGAIN. AGAIN they sit me in the older ladies chair, meanwhile Linda is watching a movie on her Ipad and the other girl was painting her OWN nails. Yet they called this older lady in to do my nails? This time I wanted a full new set because she made my nails crooked the last time. In the process she ripped part of my real nail off on two different fingers, I was bleeding pretty bad, and she doesn't even say she's sorry or anything. At this point they were asked for someone else to do my nails and everyone, just stared at me. So they were asked again, So finally linda starts doing my nails. Meanwhile the older lady starts mumbling under her breath, mocked me after that and then when she decided she wanted to leave, she stood between me and my mom and fluffed her jacket out right in our faces. The whole time, neither tracy nor linda said a word. I never ever write reviews, but I also was never so uncomfortable in someones place of business and needless to say, I will never be going back. read more

I went here for a while and wasn't too crazy from the beginning. I really tired to stick with these people, but I was very disrespected by my manicurist at my last visit and don't recommend this salon to anyone. One time I had an appointment with the manicurist I always see and was told to come back she was busy. I told her I had an appointment. Then in the blink of an eye, I guess after she saw that I was perturbed, she told me to stay. She rushed to get me done and did not give me a regular gel manicure, only a polish change. However, she didn't mind charging me the price for a manicure. I thought to myself that maybe she was having a bad day and gave her the benefit of the doubt. However, my gel manicures never stayed very well. When I questioned the manicurist about this, she told me that my nails were too weak and I needed a sparkle coat on top of my gels. That's an extra $10.00 more but my nails would not chip. This was not the case. My nails continued to chip. She then told me that I would need to get acrylic on top of my nails bc the gel manicure always kept chipping after a few days. I didn't want acrylic, but trusting this woman and what she was telling me about my nails being so weak I told her it was ok. My last and final visit was not pleasant. I had two important events to go to and needed my toes and nails done and needed the color to match. She didn't paint my toes to match my nails. When I asked her to please change my toe color to match my nails she refused unless I paid for it! She began to scream and yell at me in both English and Vietnamese in a shop full of customers. When I asked her to please stop yelling at me as I was not yelling at her, and I asked to speak to her manager, as I was not paying to fix her mistake, she told me that it was impossible and that there was no manager. I don't know how a place of business can not have a manager. She eventually painted my toes, horribly, with the original color showing through and didn't charge me. She knew she did a horrible job. All the while I never was able to report this to a manager because according to her there isn't one. I decided to go to another nail salon that day to have them fix what she messed up. When I went there, a very nice woman fixed my toes and my nails and told me that there was absolutely no reason for the acrylic to be put on my nails and that there is a certain way for the gel manicure to be done and a certain dryer to be used. I am thankful that the other salon I went to was informative and helpful in fixing the countless mistakes of this salon. Just know the people in this salon are extremely disrespectful and only after your money. read more

After hearing how great Anna (the owner) is at massages, I decided to give her a try. I always have knots in my neck and lower back from work - so I went to her and she got them all out !! She's amazing. She charges $1 a minute. I did 20 minutes (so $20 plus a tip) it was the best 20 min of my life. She goes up to 30 minutes w massages. I will go every week if I can just to relax !!
