It was my first time at Tweedy's and I had a great experience. The establishment was very clean and the staff that helped me was very friendly and kind, funny too. She even helped me with recommendations. I deducted a star because she accidentally cut me, which she did apologized for, and because my nails length weren't exactly equal after filing. There is a nail technician, middle aged Vietnamese woman who I saw LIE to three Black women that entered the salon at different times so that she wouldn't serve them because of the color of their skin. I witnessed this as I sat waiting 1.5 hours to receive service. Once she was finally free, a white woman walked in and she serviced her immediately. After I literally had been waiting for over an hour. She chose the white woman over me, a Latina. I have been going to this salon for years. I confronted her and displayed her blatant RACISM that she was so open in doing so since the salon owner was not present. When calling her out, she yelled that she didn't care. I guess she won't care about the money that she will lose from clients that are not the desired skin tone that she prefers. RACISM is real even within immigrants. If you are a person of color, do yourself a favor and spend your money where you are welcomed. I learned that we are not welcomed here. read more

I've been here twice for a pedicure. It's not because I can't reach my feet anymore, if that's what you're thinking... I could if I wanted to without any undue effort, or being short of breath or something like that, I just don't want to... Anyways, there hasn't been any wait either time. They do a great job in soaking your feet, getting them softened up, using that cheese grater on your heels and toes, good cut and buffing. Normally, the bottom of your feet look like a pre-historic river bed, but after a pedicure at Tweedy's you'll have no shame in exposing your feet. Only complaint is the massage chair: I feel like I'm being eaten by the chair, and it distracts my concentration from not giggling like a schoolgirl when my feet are tickled, so I turn it off. read more

Tweedy for nails is a decent nail salon. I've been to many a nail salon in Philadelphia - and as such, I think I am a bit of an expert. I went there recently to get a mani and pedi. The women that work there are super nice. The pedicure chairs in the back are a little odd - they are in a darker room, with no windows. Addiitonally, you are facing the waxing corner, so that's your view. Which I personally think is a little strange. I'd prefer to NOT see people being brought into a room where they will be waxed. The pedicure and manicure it self were not bad - and the prices certainly aren't bad. However, City Nails on the square a little bit better, and only $2 more, so for me, the brisk walk to Rittenhouse is worth it. read more

This place is not fancy at all but they do great work. I got a gel manicure for $23 which is much cheaper than I usually pay. They had a large selection of colors and the nail tech did an amazing job. It looks great and has lasted longer than any other gel manicure I have had. I will definitely be back again! read more

This is my go-to place for a pedi. Admittedly, there is a slight language barrier sometimes but the owner or her daughter will help out if needed. The prices are good, the chairs are comfy and they do a good job. It seems like they are always open and you don't need an appointment. Of course, I always wish the massage part lasted a bit longer, but I feel that way no matter where I go. I definitely recommend Tweedy and will continue to go there. I'd like to say, as an business Asian American, i am very disappointed as to how this place is managed. i live couple blocks away from the establishment. finding a salon in this neighborhood is a hit or a miss. Tweety, is miss. FYI, i visited this place serval of times for different services before i decided that I am not going back. First visit, my friend and i went for a pedicure, not given a wait time the owner just started our pedi water and had us sit. i enjoyed my hot water, my massage chair, and the jet pool, but at some point i would like to have my service, NO one came back to check on us, the water was cold and i had to warm the water up myself, by then i was annoyed already. 15 mins of soaking they finally decided to service us. ugh. horrible Second time, i went for a manicure. Given that the owner seems to be nice, she greeted me as i walked in while she was polishing her employees gel mani, The employee said in Chinese, (thinking i wouldn't understand) "let me start her mani." the owner says, "let her wait a little bit." i wanted to walk out after that comment but i was desperate. let me keep my mouth shut, i need my prettied up for my Beauty and the Beast play, so i waited. The owner and the employee decided to step for a few and left the man to service my manicure, i started my mani at 3:45, an hr later I was still not finished. but the only good comment i would say is that he cut my cuticles really nicely. Then came the polish thats when it started to piss me the f*** off. He didn't polish my corners and i took him 10 mins to polish 5 fingers, Im crunch on time, and i have to dry my nails. so, i told him to just give me one coat of polish, i don't have another 30 mins to spear, the owner just walked in, i had to tell her that i have to come back and get my nails complete polished over again. she said ok. Perfect! i went back the following monday. heres when the tables started to turn. the owner asked what of service i wanted. and i told her that need my nail polished. i had to remind her what had happen again. ugh. i shouldn't have to do that. then, she gave me this bullshit speech saying, she's only doing this one time and she will not do it again. what the fuck?!? 1.) your employee screwed up. 2.) your responsible for fixing my nails. so anyways she sent me to this boy who barely spoke or understand any english and screwed up my nails again. polish was all over my skin. i got so upset that i couldn't even sit to dry my tacky ass nail. i cant come back here anymore unprofessional money hungry asians turns me off read more

I just recommended this place on a thread, so I thought I should submit my review. My experience here was awesome. I got a french mani/pedi here for $35, my girl spoke perfect english and when i told her the file bothered me, she adjusted the speed and tried to make it more comfortable for me. They were fast at the parts that suck: the filing and painting, but took their time massaging. My paint was flawless, and my feet were soft and neat looking. Highly recommended. read more

I don't recommend this salon. The manicure was not well done. The paint went all the way into my cuticles, causing the manicurist to use acetone to clean up what was on my skin. The polish was peeling within 25 hours. The service was mediocre as the manicurist did not respect my request to pay before the service to avoid ruining a manicure. The pedicure chairs are in an awful setting. The cost for pedi/mani is $30 as opposed to most of the places in the area which charge $25. No parking nearby on a Saturday. I'd probably paint my own nails rather than go here again. read more

If you've been to any neon-lit nail salon before then you know what to expect. There will be some sort of language barrier. It will be tidy but not clean. You might have to wait five minutes but you'll be out in ten. Oh, and they have those huge vibrating chairs for pedicures. I took a chance on an eyebrow wax here and, by some stroke of luck, I left with both of them. The lady that did them actually kept her sunglasses on while she waxed. I went here with my family for Valentine's Day. I used to come all the time and always had a pleasant experience with the owner Kim, and have had a few others before, never having many problems. My grandmothers nails had chipped paint after freshly having her nails done. She also had all different shape and length of nails. They never did her cuticles which is done by any basic manicurist. My cousin had gotten a gel manicure and when she came up to me to show me I forced her to go back to the woman who had done her nails as she had gel paint all over her fingers. My niece had a pleasant experience it was her first ever manicure and pedicure though I found out later she was not given the massage with a normal pedicure, she is 7 but, I wanted her to be excited, happy and enjoy her experience. This leads to my treatment; I always get pedicures/spa pedicures due to enjoying paraffin treatments and additional massages. Prior to getting in the chair I asked the woman for an extended massage and I'd pay for it. After sitting there and getting a mediocre (to say the least) 4m massage on each leg, she brings out the wax for paraffin. Mind you, that treatment sits on your feet for 15-20 minutes. The woman leaves me alone in a chair the entire time. She never massaged me as I asked for, especially when you have paraffin that is one of the perks. After that my paint was pretty much see through. While I did pick a taupe, neutral color it's still dark enough to be able to be seen. I was then told it was two Coates (I don't believe that) I'm sitting to let them dry while every nail is dry one was smudged and came completely off, there was no top coat of clear I believe either. I was so irritated by this time I asked for the bottle to fix myself they insisted on doing it themselves which I had to allow. Then after my grandmother sitting under a nail dryer for over an hour and my toes finally dry we left. I've never been so dissatisfied with a nail treatment. I will continue to go to more upscale, pricy salons to ensure I get the treatment I pay for. On Valentine's Day all women want to look their best and be pampered it's not like there was a line out the door here and I can't help but feel we were rushed out. If you go please ask for the owner Kim to handle your beauty needs. read more

The people were so nice and the owner was very sweet. the shop was very clean indeed. perfect message. Came here today to get a pedicure. I've been apprehensive about getting another pedicure since the last place I went to did a horrible job. My family is in the business so I know what should be done. I'm not into the fancy and beautiful place that does a sloppy and crappy job. When I get a pedicure I want someone that will take their time to make sure my cuticles are clean, cut my nails right, and know how to apply polish smoothly since I use the same brand all the time. I moved back to the East Coast for 2 years now and this was the first time that I found someone that did an awesome job on my feet. He took his time, cleaned my cuticles, used the pumice for my heel, massaged my feet, and applied the Essie nail polish perfectly. Essie colors are hard to polish and I made that comment to him. He was surprised that I knew that. Since the color I use is a matte color it needs to be applied evenly or else it's a complete mess. I'm still admiring the polish. I am definitely pleased and will be returning. read more
