Small convenient spot near Rittenhouse Square with very friendly staff, affordable prices, and offered gel x and other enhancements. They have mostly OPI and Essie polish, not the largest color selection but I had no problem finding the color I wanted. Had no wait for my service, came in as a walk in for a pedicure ($35) and it was one of the better ones I've received, included a calf massage and a (very quick) hot stone experience. I have been a customer for almost 20 years, and had previously raved about this place. But in the last year or two, it has definitely declined. A new staff replaced the original staff, and now I am not such a happy customer. Every time I leave I wonder if I misspoke or didn't clearly explain what I am looking for. When I ask for an oval shape, some nails are squarish, while others are more rounded, but they are never uniform in size and shape. Today was the 4th time that I walked out with some round, some pointed and a few square nails ;-). But I am a creature of bad habit, so I keep coming back for more uneven nails ;-) read more

I've been here 3 times so far, this place is one of the only respectable and clean and friendly nail salons in Rittenhouse. The owner is always welcoming, greets everyone who's comes in and treats every patron with the same respect (which is hard to find). I've had her do my mani pedi and I've also had another lady do my gel mani and pedi, and they're always meticulous. Having an appt does help bc they get busy but if you go right when they open or near closing/end of the day you should be okay. I would definitely recommend and will def be returning! read more

I vowed myself never to return to Rittenhouse Nails, but desperately needed to get my nails done for a work event the following day and my normal salon is closed on Sunday. I went in for a UV Gel Refill and pedicure. The pedicure was incredibly relaxing and I really enjoyed the end-result, unfortunately, I did not get the technician's name, but she was the best part of the experience. The gel refill on the other hand was less than spectacular. The application was lumpy and left the polish looking chunky. Even worse, the day AFTER, two of my nails started lifting. I came into the shop and they applied some nail glue and said it would be fine, but the nails have started lifting again, along with one of my nails cracking in half. For the amount of money you spend, you do not get quality service. The gel refill was $40, and does not even include gel nail polish, just regular nail color. While the location may be accessible, I would highly suggest potential customer try something else. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I came here. I needed my nails done last minute (my regular girl was booked) When I walked in the front door and every employee stared at me and didn't say anything for an awkward amount of time I should've known this was going to be a weird experience. The woman who did my nails was rude and had an attitude AND she rushed through my acrylic set which resulted in me having the worst nails I've ever paid for. She filed my nails so aggressively that she cut my skin and the acrylic is so thick that there are places where it is stuck to my skin. She did not use the drill to shape my nail. Lesson learned for me, I will be going back to my regular girl at JC Fancy to have this fixed tomorrow. How this place was packed on a Saturday afternoon is beyond me. DONT GO HERE read more

I rarely ever write yelp reviews, let alone bad ones, but after terrible experiences and about a year of repairing my nails... I wanted to spare someone from a similar situation. In sum, Rittenhouse Nails DESTROYED my once healthy nails. I had never bled from a manicurist cuticle cutting etc prior to my experiences here. Three out of the five times I made the bad decision to go, I bled three times. (To rush me in and out, they used a machine to take off my polish and cut my cuticles) leaving my skin raw and my nail bed destroyed. Also, in accord with the other reviewers below, I found that each and every employee was miserable and had an attitude problem (constant eyeball rolling). Here I am about a year later and still am trying to salvage the mess that this place created out of my nail beds. My advice... steer clear! read more

I've been coming here for the past few months for manicures with Essie Gel Couture, which is actually a long lasting polish without the UV lamp but everyone says to me that they think my nails are gel and they routinely ask me where I go to get my nails done! Even my hairstylist asked me where I get my nails done and so does another acquaintance who gets gel, so that's a big compliment! I find that the long lasting gel couture polish will last for a few weeks, which is great for me. I have also really enjoyed getting hand and arm massages recently for $15. I get sore hands and arms from knitting and dog walking, but I think that they've been helping me feel better. I recently tried a pedicure and I really liked it, and they just trimmed the toenails, which I appreciate. The massaging chairs are very relaxing. My only suggestions would be to have a deal/offer for a mani/pedi combo and to have some products for sensitive skin. I really enjoy coming here, I always look forward to my visits here and I have suggested this nail salon to friends. Just a note that their tips are cash only, so I usually stop at the ATM in advance, but they do have an ATM on the premises. They also do get popular pretty quickly, I have heard of some customers calling in advance. They do have evening and weekend hours, they open pretty early too. I had planned on going to Nail Spa Bar for a quick mani/pedi during lunch but alas, they were closed on Monday. So, just around the corner was Rittenhouse Nails. I had a pleasant experience getting both a manicure and pedicure. As for my pedicure, it was good. I liked the hot stone and the massage quite a bit. I haven't looked at my toes to see how well they were painted but I'm sure they're fine. It's winter anyway. My manicure was also good. A lot of care was taken with the cuticles and my nails were already short but they're looking even now at least. I would've given this five stars but the polish was put on unevenly and with some spots completely missed. Although everything else was great, that's kind of the most important part for me. When I asked to have them fixed it seemed to cause a bit of a commotion with a few technicians coming over to look at them. They were fixed and I got a great massage while they were drying. I had a terrible experience at the salon. Originally, I wanted a refill on a short acrylic set that I got done elsewhere. I got my nails done two weeks ago, but the man I spoke to who seemed to be the manager told me I couldn't get a refill. He said I would have to get the nails taken off and a new set put on, which would of course cost much more. I agreed, and he began to apply acetone to remove my nails. Then, he switched with a young woman who took care of me the rest of the time. This is when things went left. She was being extremely aggressive and sloppy when she filed away my acrylics, to the point where she was cutting the skin around my cuticles. Then, she'd apply acetone directly to them where I had open wounds from her cutting me, and it burned TERRIBLY. She asked, "it hurts?" when she saw me wince, and I told her it did. She changed nothing. I asked her to please be careful with my skin around my nails, she didn't acknowledge me and continued filing my skin to the point of me bleeding and turning red. Once she finally got my old set of nails off, she began applying new tips. I told her explicitly I want short square, shaped very sharp and square with NO round edges. She immediately began filing the tips diagonally and making them rounded. I told her I didn't like the shape, and she continued doing them the same way. When she got to my left hand, I had to physically show her that I didn't want her to hold the nail file at an angle against the sides of my nails because it was rounding the edges, and since she couldn't seem to stop, I then told her to not file the sides and only file the top. When she finished the left hand, it was the shape I wanted but it looked completely different from the right hand. I asked her to take off the tips from the right hand because they didn't match, and she called over the manager. She spoke to him in a different language so I couldn't understand what they were saying, but after 10 minutes he walked away and neither of them addressed me. Finally, she said she wouldn't be applying new tips, that she could still shape them to look like the left hand. To no surprise, they did not look the same. Instead, she filed the left hand more roundly to match the right, which I did not want at all. There may have been a language barrier as she didn't seem to speak English very well, but I felt extremely ignored. I was also in pain the entire time because of the cuts on my fingers. Ultimately, I left with sloppy, unclean nails that had glue stuck in chunks underneath and cuts all over my cuticles. PLEASE do not go here if you want an acrylic set or anything that requires skill. At the end, I paid $71 and tipped $4, and the manager rudely said "only $4 tip for her?" I shouldn't have tipped at all, I was leaving with hideous nails, cuts, and glue all over. I went to get a regular pedicure and gel manicure last Thursday, as this was my first time at this salon and it seemed to have the best average I could find. My pedicure looks great but the gel manicure I got started peeling not even 4 days after I had originally gotten it done (when they say a gel manicure should last me 3 weeks). I went in today close to open in hopes of getting my nails fixed from the peeling but ended up needing to walk out. I explained what happened to whoever was in change (unsure if she was the manager or the owner) and she was not apologetic or accommodating at all and seemed to be confused on what I wanted/why I was there. Granted, she was not rude or dismissive but she was moving as if she didn't really care. She began to buzz off the peeled parts and file my nail, and then was going to proceed to just paint over the existed gel polish, which I had never seen done before when asking for a polish fix. This would have added so many layers of gel to my nails, as well as throw the color off as there was existing color underneath. When I explained that this didn't seem like the correct way (to what I thought was a low effort job to fix), she, again, looked confused. At this point, I understood that she was the person in charge at that time and if she didn't know how to remedy this, than it wasn't my time and effort and I left.
