This salon is less than 5 mins from my office, so I was hoping to make it my regular lunch-break salon. Initially, it seemed like a great option: prices were super reasonable, there was rarely a wait for an appointment, and the service was fast & friendly. Unfortunately, I was less than thrilled with the quality of my manicures. As other reviews have mentioned, my manicure often had bubbles in the paint, didn't last long, and I quickly learned not to ask for any designs/nail art. After the second time I left with a crudely drawn cartoon daisy that looked nothing like the flower design from the picture I had shown them, I gave up. If you are looking for a fast, cheap mani/pedi with no frills, give them a shot. If you're looking for a quality manicure that looks professional and lasts at least a week, there are plenty of better options nearby. read more

The folks here were really nice but that's about where the good ends. I came in for a gel mani with a gel mani to remove. I am used to having foils wrapping my nails to remove the existing mani. Instead I had to soak in a bowl of polish remover. Seems more efficient. I can tell you it isn't. I soaked my fingers for way longer than the 5 minutes promised (longer than my normal 10 minutes). As a result your skin will take over a week to return to its soft suppleness - experienced dryness and cracking unlike I've ever experienced before. She painfully scraped... and scraped... and scraped. Then she filed the surface of my nails to get the polish off. When that didn't work she cut my nails down way shorter that I wanted to cut off the remaining polish - very unevenly I might say. She questioned why my cuticles were red (and bleeding in some cases). Could be your aggressive polish removal technique -scrape scrape scrape. Just a thought. And stop bitching about my polish being done with multiple coats. It "sticks too much" she said. OPI "sticks too good" she says. I said "so you mean it lasts?" My nails ended up bubbly rather than smooth with flecks of black in my pale pink polish. I can't stop noticing the crappy finish. Some are already coming up. They used paper towels instead of cotton for everything which I think had an impact. I spent the next day picking gel out from under my nails. My normal place is very particular about the finish as well as ensuring evenness. This place was more concerned with finishing than anything else and I wasn't in a rush and it wasn't busy. Easily the worst, most painful mani I've had and more expensive than what I usually pay. I'll never go back. Do not recommend. Even if it's convenient. read more

Michelle and sweet team mate are very good to my mother! I took her there yesterday for a sprucing and they took very good care of her. The salon only has a tiny step at the entrance making it an easy visit for mom. It's sparkling clean. Prices are reasonable and there are plenty of services available. By far the best nail salon in Philadelphia that I've been to thus far. The lovely ladies at Hot Nails know exactly what they're doing. Awesome quick service. I went at lunch on a Thursday and despite it being a small studio they saw me right away. She did a great job on my manicure. I was seen on a walk-in basis to get a gel manicure here a little over 3 weeks ago. I was seen right away and the ladies were nice and friendly to me. The color selection was a little limited, but the prices were cheap and the manicure was done pretty quickly. It's lasted well, with only minimal chipping at the base where I've picked at the polish (my bad!). I'm planning to return on Friday - that would be 4 weeks after my original mani - to get a new gel! read more

I love this place! I've been going to see Michelle(the owner) and the rest of her staff for about 3 years now and I don't have not one complaint. I used to live right on the other side of the park from the shop and recently moved more towards Broad and I still go out of my way to go to this shop instead of walking a half a block to the nail salon near me. She accepts appointments and walk-ins and if you can't get there til closing time or a little after she will stay open just so you can get your nails done. They arent busy at all. Small salon that definitely could have filed my nails better blind folded. the magic trick is only $25.00 for a manicure ? and a pedicure! Love this place!! It is a 5 minute walk from work. I sometimes like to go on my lunch break and they are always able to squeeze me in. They have the best deal I've seen - $25 mani/pedi. It's definitely a no frills experience, but how can you beat $25 for BOTH! I would make an appointment, just to be safe, as it is a really small shop. Hot Nails is definitely a quality nail salon. I have gotten multiple manicures/pedicures/gel manicures from salons all over Center City and the service is oftentimes hit or miss. At Hot Nails, the gel manicure that I received from Michelle was awesome. She was very nice, meticulous, and was super detailed in cleaning/shaping/polishing my nails. My nails looked perfect after I left :) What makes it even more awesome is that it's the cheapest gel manicure I've found in the city ($25)! The ambiance and size is not the best (that's why I didn't give it a 5)...but the more important things--CLEANLINESS and QUALITY--are top notch. Honestly don't understand the hype. Yes, it's cheap ($25), but very cramped with no frills, very limited paint colors, and questionably clean tubs. There was an older man who came in off the street and just sat and watched women get their pedicures. When the technicians asked if he wanted anything he said no and just sat there for an HOUR. The space is so small that it was impossible to not be in his presence. It felt creepy and weird. He talked about giving the owner a check previously...but for what? To let him sit in her store and look at women's feet? I just wanted to get out of there. read more
