Great mani/pedi for $55 (no gel), which seems to be about the going rate. This place was clean and they were very friendly and accommodating. All of the employees were extremely kind. It is filled with regulars, mostly the ladies who lunch type. I was treated to economic advice from a woman who was chauffeured over from her $2m Society Hill condo as she explained to her nail servant that inflation was ACKSHULLY GOOD for us poors because our wages would increase. lol. All of the other patrons seemed to know each other from their regular appointments so there was lots of conversation. Good for them, less so for those of us who don't care for the gossip and opinions of the out of touch. But that's the beauty shop for you. My polish lasted a solid ten days so I have no complaints. They are thorough, not too aggressive (I can't stand when they cut off too much cuticle), and considerate. Worth the trip... but maybe bring your headphones. read more

In another life, I would be one of the top nail techs in Philly. Do not doubt me on this! I do my own nails and they look as good as any of the $40+ manicure places around. Sadly, a manicure doesn't last for more than a few days when you work with your hands a lot. While I don't do manual labor, I still do a fair bit of hobby work with my hands and that requires using dremels, drills, files, and other sharp and abrasive tools that might harm a good manicure. I was in a martial arts phase for five years and then a very holistic yogic lifestyle for that time plus five more. I had not had my nails done at a salon for a while, so I went back to a tried and true place... Cure. This was my go-to salon ten years ago and it is still there off of 2nd and Pine, a testament to its excellence. They still charge more than most everyone else, but there's still the cash discount and they still have very, very meticulous nail techs working there. So, it's $45 for a gel manicure, but it is so very worth it. Your nails will look like glass and will look so good. Three years later and it's still the Cadillac of nail salons. I recently moved to a different neighborhood with plenty of salons on every corner, but I'll STILL venture over here, it's THAT worth it. I've actually been holding off close to 6 months for Cure, not wanting to waste my dollars to have someone I don't trust in and around my cuticles. I waited until all my nails stopped breaking from the weather change and were matching in length before finally making an appointment here for a gel mani and a regular pedicure. It was well worth the wait. Christine is superb. Honestly though, no matter who you get, you truly receive primo, top notch service here. It's never rushed nor messy, and I promise you it's well worth the price. I got the best, most luxurious pedicure complete with lengthy exfoliating and moisturizing rub-downs on my calves, and the cherry on top of hot stones and towels. My gel mani was spectacular. Each nail was tended to like a Fabergé egg, complete with a base coat, THREE color coats and TWO top coats, with the always-welcome perk of UV gloves and alternating fingers into the light so you get the most even setting. I noticed they renovated, too. To preface, the place ALWAYS looked clean and nice, but the touches they've added (paint freshening here, new massage chairs there) make it feel that much more special. Today, I got to redeem my loyalty card for a free 10 minute back massage, which helped aid in my day of #selfcare tremendously. At close to two hours, I left feeling like royalty. Will obviously return. There's nothing better. (Pro tip: I love playing guess the song on their soundtrack of string/piano covers of popular songs. Ok, I'm torn on writing this because I've convinced myself this salon is a "hidden gem" being that I've lived in this neighborhood for 12 years and just found out about it today. Anyways, I've frequented almost all the nail salons in Queen Village and Society Hill and I know who does what well, but I decided that my nails were missing the mark elsewhere and zoomed in really tight on the map of my neighborhood and found Cure. They were able to get me in with a few hours notice for a gel mani. Upon entering I was very pleased with the cleanliness and overall peaceful environment of the salon. The aesthetic is modern and tidy. Let's talk about the nails - I am a psycho when it comes to my nails. For years I've done my own, perfecting my shape and polish technique. I stare at my hands constantly - they have to be perfect. I stopped going to salons for a while because the manis were all either rushed or sloppy or both. Crooked nail here, polish on my cuticles there. Returning to salons for long-lasting gel manis didn't do much to boost my confidence, until today. My nail tech did an amazing job with both shape and design (American mani). She was professional and courteous. I had no complaints. The salon is also intuitive when it comes to the small little touches - UV lamps for gel manis built into the nail bar, ring stands on the bar for the massage, clean compact partitions for COVID and back and shoulder massages for any down time!! Truly a great experience. They also have a loyalty program - 10 services and you get either $7 off your next service or a 7 minute massage. The only thing I have to say even remotely negative is it IS pricey. Most (ALL) gel manis in this neighborhood are $25, $5 more for a French or American design. At Cure, the base price is $40, $10 more the design. It is significant but probably worth it for the environment and service. Pro tip- if you pay in cash, they deduct $5 off your service. read more

Even if I receive poor service in places, I usually get over it and don't write a Yelp review. I am aware of how difficult it is to run a small business and don't want to jeopardize a small business owner's efforts. However, today I went with my young daughter to Cure Nails, (after going there last month for a Mommy and Me Mani Day) only to be turned away by the owner at the front desk. She said, "after your last visit we decided to change the policy and not to allow children to come." She delivered this with a blank, angry face. To say she was cold and unaccommodating would be generous. This was not good for business as I will never return to this establishment. Not to be kid-friendly is not to be family friendly which in my book is not to be humane. Thumbs down to this way of conducting business. I have to add that last month when we arrived (after I called to make sure what the children's rate was) we were not warmly received. But I said I just called and someone quoted me X rate and said you take children. When I paid, no one said, "this was an exception, we usually don't accept children." The whole vibe here is snooty and cold. I've been there on my own about half a dozen times and the service is highly uneven. It depends on which manicurist you get. The neck massage is lovely and the vibe is sophisticated but this no kid policy and the rudeness with which it was delivered left a bad taste. read more

I've been going here for years. They're consistently clean, comfortable, and courteous. They don't do artificial tips or dip powder (IIRC) but that's because they really want your hands to be as healthy as they are beautiful. They put little fingerless gloves on you during a gel manicure to protect your hands from the UV. No one wants wrinkly knuckles at an early age! It's so thoughtful. Christine made my toes look perfect. The massage and scrubs included in the regular pedicure were done with care and didn't feel rushed. Checked out this Headhouse salon on a whim yesterday. I was able to get a same-day appointment for an evening pedicure. The salon is clean, quiet, and relaxing. It is small (4 pedicure chairs), so I do recommend booking ahead of time, but it did not feel crowded at all. The pedicure was efficient but luxurious, and included hot stones, a lemongrass scented hot towel (smelled so good!), and a shoulder massage. The woman working the front desk was very nice. The pedicure was priced right at $35 ($30 with cash). Overall, a wonderful experience for me and my toes, which had not been polished for at least half a decade! This may be a tough review but let me give you a little explanation: I am very very perfectionist with my nails, from where I come from. Doing/doing your nails is something considered as a kind of art and expression. So I was looking for a place that would offer me if not the same perfection, at least (considering the price) a good quality of work and high expertise in nail care (again considering that here the manicurists get a license that guarantees at least that!!!), but, unfortunately I was wrong, and they really have NO IDEA HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR NAILS! They don't even know how to remove gelish in a correct way and not as aggressive as the nail. It's all about time and how fast they can work. They make you pay for "gelish removal" and just want to spend a few minutes doing that, and then remove all the gel residue left by filing the nail! This was the most terrible part... PLEASE BELIEVE ME, DON'T LET THEM FILE YOUR NAILS ANYWHERE! Thank me later... filing weakens them, hurts them and that's why they break and grow thin. All this happens because they obviously give too little waiting time for the acetone to soften the product and the gelish can be removed more easily. ATTENTION TO THIS: Nails should be polished, not filed. The file is only used to shape the sides. The polish application was good and clean, quiet music. They give you a short but strong back and neck massage (I like that kind of massage but it can be rough), and offer you the option to make payment before the polish application. They put fans on and move you to a drying table so your polish doesn't get ruined. I would only go back if I want nail polish application. ¡¡¡¡ NEVER AGAIN REMOVE GELISH OR APPLY GELISH, because I am sure they file your nail with the silly and archaic belief that they need to "open the pore of the nail" and the gelish will adhere better (this is completely wrong and harmful to the nails) if you don't believe me ask your dermatologist or better yet read up on nail care!Or follow Betina Goldstein a famous nail artist here in the USA and check out her tips on nail care. read more

I have been going to another nail place nearby since I moved here and have officially found my new go-to spot. I got a pedicure, a gel manicure and my eyebrows done and it all cost $77. I'm going to Jamaica and was a little reluctant to try somewhere new, but I am so glad I did! When I came in, I was told to pick a color, so I picked a color for my toes (an OPI color) I asked if she had a "similar" color in the gel for my nails (usually selections of gels are weak). I was happy to find out they have a whole selection of OPI gels and even the same color to match! The pedicure was great, she was very thorough and they give you great long massages with hot stones! The chairs are super comfortable and the girls make sure that it never stops massaging you. I sat down to do my gel manicure next, she turned on a little fan by my feet so my toes would dry at the same time...I love that kind of efficiency! She did an awesome job on my nails, no polish on my skin, no hangnails, no cuts, perfectly even filing! After my manicure she gave me a long delicious shoulder massage which apparently comes with the pedicure. Another girl took me to the back to do my eyebrows...this is sort of a task because I have very straight brows and I want them to be arched so badly but not thin...She did an amazing job, practically painless and she took the time to tweeze out all the little babies you can't get with the wax. I'm very impressed with this salon, all the girls were so friendly, the salon itself was extremely clean and very reasonably priced for the way you get treated. Oh and you get a discount if you pay in cash..AND they have rewards cards! I seriously can not wait to come back! read more

The salon, while small, is very clean. The massage with a classic pedicure was still lengthy and very relaxing as was the neck and shoulder massage during the dry time for my hands! Their pricing for a gel mani was $40, and a pedicure was $35 and I felt it was fair for the quality of their work and the time they put into it!
