If I could leave lower I would. I have been going here since about 2019/2020. When I first start amazing. I'm not sure now. Today I went and I just received complete attitude from this one girl and this girl they keep giving me the last like 5 times I have been. They make smart comments in another language and then laugh as if someone isn't supposed to pick up on body language and facial expressions. I got completely ignored as I asked for assistance because I messed up a toe. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to be labeled as the angry black girl, but absolutely horrible. I have no problem spending money on quality but I will not spend money where I feel disrespected every time I come. Again has only been in like the last year/year and half.
I have been here twice now, both times the quality of the products used has not been great. I get dip powder, and the first time my nails started chipping within 1 week which is very abnormal for dip powder. I figured maybe the powder they used was old and it was a brand I never usually get elsewhere. This time I picked an opi dip powder and I loved my nails up until a few hours after my appointment, once my nails had fully hardened, I noticed they all have a crackle appearance which was not requested and hides the glitter in the color I had picked out. I think the top coat must be old? Not sure what would cause it to cure this way but this is the second time I have been disappointed with the end result of my nails here. I also have noticed they tend to overbook, I've had to wait both times despite having an appointment. My tech was very sweet and did a good job, and the staff is very nice in general, but overall the poor quality of the dip powder/clear coat they use is enough to make me not want to come back because I can only get dip powder. If I could get gel I would try them again because I do like the staff. Update: the top coat fully started chipping off 2 days after the service. I called the spa and they allowed me to come back in, they took of the top layer, and they put a new clear coat on. It still doesn't look perfect but it's much better and I'm glad they didn't try to charge me for the assistance. Very good customer service.

She barely looked at me and I don't think she even "grunted " hello . But I digress . I try to be diplomatic. Suffice to say , if I'm paying $45 for a gel mani I want a good one . My biggest gripe is --I asked very nicely for "thinner line " --said first pinky being done , I politely go "yeah , if it could be quite a bit thinner than that (it looked like I had the entire nail covered so I hesitate to think what "normal " would have been . After a THIRD time , I finally say "perfect ," upon which she proceeds to do the entire rest of my hand with a thicker line than I would have expected for normal --rather than what I had asked for . If I didn't know better , I would have almost thought she was being passive agressive . It was VERY clear I wasn't happy at which point she grunted at me and showed them to me for approval presumably, at which point an exasperated me , just sighed and waived away a 'whatever ,' knowing full well I was not going to get what I asked for . I paid , tipped her well $10 on a $45 service , but I did not appreciate this . Ladies , you feel me when I say , I'm constantly looking down at my nails in chagrin --and feeling like I want to cry --it's a French manicure . How do you f&$@ up a simple French manicure ? The lines are all facocked and uneven . Oy . The poor girl next to me , god bless her , was busy getting the worst gel overlay I've ever seen in my life . It was white polish and it honestly looked like she had panda paws My tech did get me a water because I had a slight tickle when I was there , so I will say that for her . However , you are not getting a "service " here --certainly not a SPA service as it says on the walls . You're getting s begrudging bad polish job by someone who would rather be anywhere else but there . Not s good feeling . And now I step out into the daylight , they're even worse . All bumpy around the edge , with pieces of the shavings of my nail filings stuck in little spots where they didn't bother to buff or clean up around the edges . Argh . Will never be back here .

However, this past Monday 3/28 I went in specifically for a gel or chrome polish. I've had both several times and it always lasted forever. Unfortunately, I felt that my artist wasn't paying attention - she was talking constantly to another employee during my appointment - and 3 of my nails on my right hand are already chipping. Others have air bubbles. My appointment was at 4 pm and it wasn't very busy so I don't understand why she did such a lackluster job. I'm very disappointed because this was for a special event and the work just isn't that good. I'll be returning for pedicures only in the future.

Terrible from The start... after the tech didn't pull out new cuticle cutters and barely cleaned under my nails slops a mess of lotion all over me with no warning - getting it all stuck in my rings. Then she didn't take the old polish off all the way but proceeded to "polish" horribly sloppy. It was thick, uneven, and just a mess. I asked her to take it off as it would never dry - I'd be left with bubbles and knicks. They pull a "new" polish from the cabinet that had to be sitting in there for years - it was dusty and looked just as bad as the original. GROSS - take some pride in your materials - since you cheap out on everything else. I left with no polish and highly irritated $14 later. Avoid this place, not to mention they don't seem to know what's going on - everyone just stares weird when you walk in - like helllllo earth to everyone , I made an appt, am I not a nail salon

I thought I found my forever nail salon in Philly up until a few days ago. The first time I went was the day 1.5 hours before closing before Labor Day weekend and I got a light purple dip powder manicure which turned out to be too thick, and was not smooth. The nail tech was rushing the entire process and was more worried about leaving on time than doing a decent job. So I thought maybe I'll just try someone else there next time, but still give this place a chance. The 2nd visit, I got OPI black dip manicure and regular pedicure for $70 with a different nail technician. Not even a day later, it started cracking. I went back to get my one finger fixed and had to wait 20 minutes just to fix a finger, but I understand that they probably had clients who had made appointments before me. Then a day after that, some of my other nails started cracking as well. Dip powder should be lasting more than 4 days. I really wanted to give this place and the staff a chance but for the price that I pay for isn't worth it.

I popped in and managed to get a walk-in manicure-pedicure on a Saturday afternoon! They really took their time and made sure my nails were perfect, and this is the lightest and thinnest a gel has looked and felt. BONUS: super COVID conscious and had screens between all patrons and nail techs! UPDATE: changing to a 4 star because I had a great experience and it looked great but my gel started chipping a little bit after about 1 week! read more

The service was just okay. This is two coats, which is fine but when I asked why the tips looked like they weren't painted she just said they are supposed to look like that?? I had acrylic and she used the tool to shave them down but was so rough about it. I won't be coming back unfortunately bc this is definitely not worth $70 I paid (with tip). read more

Had to have them redo because the first time the base coat was yellow peach. Very bizarre but she said they use it for all French nails. Anyways redid them but was obviously upset with me. Didn't look up close when I left and got home to see both of my big toes were chipped. read more

Used Yelp to look for a pedicure - Called this place early on a Sunday- scheduled an appointment for same day. No problems getting in. They are by appointment only- no walk ins due to COVID. My friend and I wanted to get a pedicure. The pricing was very reasonable. Pedicures start at $35.00- this is very basic.... but they have 4 options $35- $45- $55- $65 regular polish is free but gel polish is an extra $25.00. (Gel seemed a little overpriced compared to other places as an add on but to each their own). Everything is in individual packaging- which is great because of Covid restrictions, and they do have a selection of scents which is also nice. Had the male worker Sam and the female worker (not sure of the name). Sam was awesome female worker was awesome also!!!! Great service, and reasonable pricing. Recommend- parking is street parking. Spent -45 mins drying my nails (no one came over to check them so I waited a long time to be sure they were dry.) Spent- 1/hour getting actual service both of us got pedicures at the same time. Recently moved to Philly and was looking for a place to do my nails and feet as we all know it's super important! Tried this place out , it was close to home and I was not disappointed. From the moment I walked in the service was amazing, customer service , and not to mention their safety protocols amid COVID was beyond perfect. Definitely will be coming back again :) read more

My roommate and I just moved to the area and we were sick of traveling 30 minutes to get our nails done so we were in search of a new spot. Of course we were skeptical about changing it up because we're loyal to our normal salon but we decided to give this place a try. We came in early morning when they first opened and we were the only ones there so we got seated right away. The spot itself is super cute and pretty big and before we left the place was full so we had a feeling we stumbled upon a good spot. My nails came out so cute and I was super happy with the end result. It took them about an hour and a half to do but that's only because they reallllly take their time. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because they charge $30 for the acrylic fill (very reasonable) but the dip was an extra $45 bringing it to $75 total which is a litttttttle pricey but hey, it's northern liberties. My roommate had her acrylics taken off and got a gel manicure and they really took their time and didn't just rip them off like some places do. Overall we're super happy to say we found our new nail spot! Definitely give them a shot if you're in the area. Also, their dog is SUPER cute so they scored an extra point there. read more

Best gel mani in Northern Liberties! I've gone several times and have seen several different nail technicians. Everyone does an amazing job. Gel manis are consistently great and last 2-3 weeks without chipping. Since finding Chic Nails, I won't go anywhere else. Highly recommend. read more

Poor service and bad attitudes! I've been getting my nails done at this salon for almost 2 years and recently the service is terrible, nails aren't clean, they're not prepping properly, bubbles in the gel polish caused me to try the dip powder, well that wasn't any better, it wasn't clean or smooth. I paid for my service after speaking to the manager who gave me a $5 discount (rolls eyes) before I could leave I noticed how really bad they looked and realized I actually need my nails done AFTER paying $40 and having my nails "done" so I went back in and got a refund. Everyone knows I'm obsessed with my nails. It's no secret. I have always dreamed of finding a nail salon like Chic and could not be happier that it is right down the street from me! I have been going to Chic for over a year now. Miss Young the owner is a sweetheart and her staff wants you to have an amazing experience. The salon is cute and cozy and always clean. I have never made an appointment. Sometimes you may have to wait but Miss Young does her best to be sure you aren't waiting long so just be patient. The color selection is massive and I am pretty sure you won't find that anywhere else. Regular polish, gel, chrome, cat eye, etc. You name it, Miss Young has it. Don't be afraid to ask for nail designs or accent nails. Let's start with pedicures.... oh my god. Talk about relaxing. They have massaging chairs. The standard pedicure is $30 and includes foot/leg massage, hot stone, and heel wax. I love it. They even offer a pedicure for men! Now nails. I have had gel manicures and acrylic. A lot of places make acrylic look fake and don't shape it right. Miss Young and Miss Amy are masters at making it look natural and flawless. I get a standard square shape to my nails but I often see them doing round or almond shape as well. At the end of getting your nails done, there is a massage therapist who walks around and will give you a free shoulder/neck massage. My favorite! I am always so relaxed and thoroughly enjoy coming every few weeks because I know that's my time to enjoy. Also, they do offer other massage services and waxing. When you pay they do accept cash or credit card. There is an atm in the salon if you need it. They have a membership card which I highly recommend. It's $3 to purchase and you accumulate 1 point for every dollar spent. This can be used towards different services and the one I always use my points on is the pedicure. So worth it! The best part: they are open 7 days a week! I can't say enough about Chic nails and the staff. I enjoy going and have taken many friends and family with me who now will not go anywhere else for their nails. I'm sure you won't be disappointed as I have never been! read more

$80. Which I don't mind paying... but don't tell me you can do ombré and my nails turn out like this and the shape is all different. And bumpy on the sides... I've never written a bad review at a nail salon before... but I've never hated my nails so much in my life And she had the audacity to ask if I wanted change after giving her a $100 bill. She's lucky I even tipped her $5. read more

I have been here about 6 times now and they are my favorite salon! everyone is super friendly and does great work and their polish holds up SO well! my nails are the longest they have ever been thanks to the caring hands at Chica Chic! read more
