I should've read the negative reviews a bit closer because they all sound like my experience. My first appointment, Mindy was late but I overlooked since she gave me a heads up beforehand and was apologetic. Communication is key. Everything went well so I booked my next three appointments with her. I had some unexpected guests show up for the holiday weekend and I debated cancelling this next appointment but she books out far and doesn't have great hours. So I showed up to my second appointment AFTER I confirmed two days before and received MULTIPLE reminders day-of. Doors are locked and lights were off. I waited around for 30 minutes and finally had to leave. Two hours later, I get a text that there was a family emergency and she would like to rebook and I haven't heard from her since. I've been going to Mindy for sugaring for a few years (for both Brazilian and underarm) and am always happy with the service and results. I have really sensitive skin, so both shaving and hot waxing are a bit too harsh for me. Sugaring has been a game-changer. I find Mindy's method to be exceptional on my skin (especially her extraction practices to prevent ingrowns--other sugaring places don't seem to do this). Her method also softens the hair over time. I also really like Mindy's politics around race, body size, health, and hair in general. I come from a culture that has a lot of hangups/shaming practices around things skin color/tone, and being a client of Mindy's has been a really affirming experience. She's taught me that things like varied pigmentation are perfectly normal--a real paradigm shift. And she's helped me to appreciate and experiment w/hair growth and shaping. She is really invested in each person as an individual. And accommodating to health/safety needs if a client is high-risk. If you're looking for a gentler, more effective method of hair removal, sugaring is definitely worth a try. They also have an added aesthetic element that I really appreciate--more of a cozy boutique vibe than your typical wax place. read more

If I could give more stars I would. I love the atmosphere of the boutique, the aromatherapy always relaxes me before and during my Brazilian, and Mindy just gets it. She and her team are professional, warm , easy to talk to, and I absolutely love her approach and technique to something that has been so uncomfortable for me at other businesses. The sugaring itself is thorough, I've never been THIS satisfied. In trying out other salons I've had to go back once or twice after the appointment because so much was missed, and not to mention the ingrown hairs - which I have been lucky enough to not have to deal with since going to Mindy and Natali. I have been in search of a safe space, where I don't have to feel judged, ashamed, embarrassed, or traumatized after having such an intimate encounter. This is the place, and SheSugars is a reflection of that. Mindy is exceptionally empathetic, talented, and passionate at her craft. She also hired a lovely team of ladies, who are warm and welcoming just like her. I love the vibe and aura of this place, and just walking through the front door gives me a sense of peace and serenity. Mindy has done an amazing job of not only making SheSugars look aesthetically pleasing, but will also make you feel really welcomed and cared for with her professionalism and empathy. I currently live far from here, but I refuse to go anywhere else, and am always willing to take the hike because of how lovely this small business is. I always have an exceptional experience going to she sugars co. Mindy is amazing! My first appointment a few years ago Mindy sat down with me to explain how the hair grows, how it attaches to the blood supply, and that over time the hair becomes more sparse and thinner. I was extremely worried because I have very sensitive skin and I had an awful experience getting waxed. She assured me that sugaring is less invasive, the sugar is more of a body temperature, and she removes the hair with the natural way the hir grows. She is always so considerate of your needs, she makes you feel comfortable, she gives you a stress ball and breathing techniques throughout the service. She understands that you may feel vulnerable especially getting bikini or Brazilian waxes so she try's to always keep you somewhat covered so you feel at ease and slowly goes about performing the services. She will check in with you to make sure you are doing ok and if you need a break. Also, her coworkers are also amazing! When Mindy was out on maternity leave I felt comfortable enough going to another sugarista (Domanique) because I trust Mindy's judgement in who she would have working with her.
