This review is pretty much for the gentleman who did my service, he was amazing and deserves 5 stars. Everything else was a bit off. I purchased a Groupon months before and decided to use it the day before we flew to HI on vacation. With a 6 AM flight, no one wants to be awake let alone get up and do their hair. I booked my appt through their online booking system and away we went. That evening, ALL streets in PHX headed that directions had major accidents and were slow moving. I called ahead at 5:20 (my service was at 6:00) to give them a heads up I might be late and the lady who answered the phone was rude. She acted put out that I was calling, had no sympathy for traffic and barked "So will you be here by 6:10?" I said I couldn't be sure but I was going to try. I later found out if you are more than 10 min late, they cancel your service and charge you full price. I get there with 3 min to spare and am greeted by the gentleman who is going to do my style (sorry I cant remember his name). He gave me a bottle of water and did a great job on my style. He was very friendly and was sure to ask how I liked my hair styled (product vs no, how I part my hair). The retail cost of my services was $60 which is a lot considering I pay $55 to have my hair cut and styled at the Aveda place across the parking lot. I may come here again for a special occasion but the price and the nickle and dime of the cancellation policy rubbed me the wrong way. read more

I have been to Primp and Blow for three separate occasions, and I would recommend this place! I first tried P&B for a normal blowout and was so pleased with the results. They made my hair voluminous, shiny with a little bit of body that was perfect for my engagement photos. My friend got married soon after that and she booked through P&B (at Waterfront). All of her bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done there. I enjoyed the experience, but I think that as a bridesmaid it's kind of a bummer because you don't do a trial beforehand and it's kind of hit or miss with the stylists whether they can actually execute the style in the photo that you bring them. And finally, I booked my own hair and makeup and my wedding party's hair at P&B Town and Country. My stylist was Tierra, and she was awesome! I definitely recommend her capable hands. I did my hair and makeup trial with her and she was very adamant that I be vocal about what I did and did not like -- it wouldn't hurt her feelings. Although the trial was still pricey ($100 -- they say on the website that it is half off on tuesdays and thursdays but that's not true -- at least during the "season" that I did mine) I did think it was worth it so that my stylist practiced working with my hair and knowing what I wanted. My actual hair and makeup the day of was phenomenal as a result. However, some of my bridesmaids weren't in love with their hair the day of -- mostly because I think a trial would have been helpful for them as well. I will say that the process of booking your wedding party, which goes through their central coordinator Lauren, was relatively easy and painless. For both weddings that I was a part of I was happy that they were able to book all of the girls pretty much at the same time, which meant that they brought in a stylist for each of us so that the whole process went a lot faster. On my wedding day though there were some mixups administratively -- apparently some of my girls' stylists were not notified of how early the appointments were and a few of them were late. Thankfully we had enough buffer that it wasn't a problem but I could foresee it being a disaster. They do seem to have some problems with reception showing up on time and in general being competent -- I waited for twenty minutes for her to figure out how to add up my bill with the tip on it since I was paying for everyone. However, I do think that the price point is very reasonable compared to other salons around the valley. And the salon is super cute (in Tiffany blue) and a great place to hang out with your girls before your big day. Since they are a local company (as oppose to drybar, which is national) I am happy to support them but I do hope they get a lot of kinks worked out of their system! read more

I am so incredibly pleased with my service. I'm biracial (black & white) and have a LOT of hair. Often, when I walk into a salon, there is palpable apprehension about tackling my mane, but Delia didn't bat an eye. On top of the fact that she didn't make me & my curls feel like a lost cause, she seriously delivered. My hair has never looked so good after a blowout. I received a barrage of compliments and with the help of a little dry shampoo & some flat iron touch-ups at home, the style lasted 5 days! 3.5 stars. The experience begins and ends with the front of the house and neither person at the front desk welcomed me with a smile or wrapped up the transaction with a thank you. No one bothered to tell me about the membership options. I didn't know that I would be seeing two different people for services. The guy who did my blow out did a great job, then he disappeared and I was ushered to the make up area by another girl. No thank you, no have a good night. Just poof, he had started my make up too so I assumed he would be finishing.... Make up artist was very friendly. I did lighten my eye makeup a little bit but mostly because I'm not used to filled in brows. Not sure if I would rebook here. I didn't really feel welcome or valued as a client by 4 out of 5 people I came in contact with. I reached out via their website to provide feedback to the owners here and at another location. The actual franchisor answered me, I explained my situation and no response back from her. She just fielded to the other manager who said sorry, next time call. This was my first time at A blow dry place. I was happy they had an appointment available spur of the moment! I came in and was greeted with A smile! The place is clean and well organized! My gal took me right away. The shampoo was great! I would have liked A little more neck massage with the conditioning treatment, yet is was better than most salons I've been too! My gal asked how I wanted my hair done. I was open to something different, not to crazy! She did my bangs perfect! The style was not how I'd do my hair , I wanted more beachy waves.. but A nice change. I didn't want to pay another 10$ for hot tools, so that's probably why it wasn't exactly as I wanted, I thought 45$ for A style was plenty! Booked this place for a blowout and makeup application for my cousins wedding. I've gotten my makeup before and have gone to dry bar many times before. I went to this location because I liked the idea of going to one place for hair and makeup. Also I wanted to try something new and boy did I make a mistake. I walked in. People there are not friendly at all. They did not look busy at all. Less than 5 clients in the salon. Immediately the girl who was suppose to do my hair told me she wouldn't have time to do my hair because it's too long and thick. She offered to just curl my hair. I told her no I like the bounce of blown out hair. I asked if they could just do my hair and forget the makeup so there's enough time to accommodate them. She said it was impossible they don't have the staff or time to. Honestly, I think the girl was just being lazy. I was disappointed to say the least on how I was treated. I opted to just do a makeup application so I don't cancel the appointment - apparently they have a strict cancellation policy. So I immediately booked a blowout with Drybar down the street and went forward with a makeup application. The receptionist did my makeup. And she did a crap job. First off. She didn't use any moisturizer. No primer. So my makeup was very cakey. And that was the first thing I mentioned was I hate to be cakey. All my pores were magnified. There were wrinkles that were not there before I literally looked years older. I had to ask for mascara, for my eyelashes to be curled, I had to ask for setting spray. The girl seemed annoyed I was asking these basic things. These things I feel like I shouldn't have to ask, and the makeup was rushed also it took less than 30 minutes. All other makeup applications I've had took at least an hour. Also the makeup variety sucked, they had no eyeshadow variety, no colors only nude colors. This place was a complete disappointment and waste of money. I had to go to sephora and ask for them to fix it. Do yourself a favor and do not go here.o read more

Someone always answers the phone, the girls at the front desk always ask if they can get me something to drink and my stylist has always been there- and on time. Since I go on auditions, have photo shoots, and meet with important clients- I don't want a bad hair day to distract me and Primp and Blow always does a great job. My wife made an appointment for today because we had an event to go to tonight. She had a confirmation and the appointment was automatically placed In her calendar. She showed up and was told that they didn't have a reservation for her. The front desk person, Maximus, must have repeated himself 20x that he didn't see the appointment. My wife showed him the confirmation and another 20x he repeated he didn't' see the appointment. Obviously frustrated she asked to speak with the manager. She was told the manager (Melody) wasn't there. He told my wife he would contact her. He then called my wife and repeated himself 20x that there is no compensation and nothing they could do. The manager never called my wife to apologize and they never took accountability. She has been a loyal customer for 2 years but never again. What a disgraceful way to run a business. Please take your business elsewhere if you want respect and a caring staff. This staff was incompetent and lacked a basic sense of morality and good business. Worst experience ever. They don't always have a makeup artist there to do the makeup so be sure to as first if it will be a regular employee doing the makeup or a professional makeup artist. Went in for a blow out for a wedding. Asked to have my hair blown out with a round brush and then have loose curls. She curled my hair with the round brushes and didn't event go over it with an iron so instead of it looking like I asked (curls) it just looked like my ends were flipped out. She was not accommodating at all for she never asked me if she could fix anything and I was very clear how I wanted my hair and it was definitely not what I asked. Very disappointed for I am going to a wedding and my hair is not how I wanted it done. read more

The girls in the shop are always super pleasant. They do great work. It's totally worth it! However the management that runs the place that always take their sweet time doing everything, also the only one who probably benefit from this business are always NASTY! I HAVE NEVER even received a smile from the rude women walking around the shop making sure their slaves are making their money! They push these girls to over book services! Hopefully you aren't in a hurry!! God forbid you are late or can't make it, YOU are charged! But if you wait 30 minutes for your services (because of how overbooked they are) you get nothing except a million apologizes from the poor girls who are doing their best to make everyone happy! Definitely steer clear! I tried them for a second time and seriously regret spending $67 on a blowout. The guy that did my hair was disorganized. Several times hitting me on the head with the brush while blow drying me, dropped the curling iron on my shoulder while my hair was still attached. I should have just stopped him right then and left. I have been a member almost a year now. I have a standing appointment with Claire every Sunday and have brought my girls here to get their hair done for portraits. Claire and Heidi are my favs. The stylists here at awesome. But the receptionists here aren't worth a thought. I have been over charged more than once even being a member didn't think this was possible. This last incident just takes the cake as I contemplate even returning. My sunday appt was canceled because they confused me with someone else. And charged my account a fee and when I called to get in for an appt they were booked. I had to go to a further location to get my usual blow out. I complained at the paradise valley whom call the High street location and spoke to 2 separate people and still no assistance. Beatrice whom has been told is the manager and will make this right immediately. Well that was December 22nd and still no call back or even a refund for the fee they incorrectly charged me. I even called the corporate line and left a long message and guess what? Still nothing. Also you must know, you can call any specific location phone number but if that location doesn't have a receptionist which most don't. It rolls over to the High street location where a very rude Alyssa answer the phone and doesn't offer any assistance since technically that's not her location. So the services are great, stylists even better. Can't RAVE ENOUGH for Claire or Heidi but the lack of customer service at the front desk and the constant over charges of services even if your a standing member and is in there as much as I am and spends as much as I do not only on services but in products as well. Your just another walk in. I will say check your receipt and prices every time. And always check to see if they incorrectly charged your account on a cancel/no show fee. It sucks to have to write this review but the lack of receptionists and customer service from the main person who is the first point of contact is disheartening! read more

Great communication from this biz in the days leading up to my appt. A stylist called out sick so they had to juggle everything- but were really thoughtful in making that work.
