Arthur was an amazing stylist and walked me through every step to ensure my hair remained healthy. I came in and he was so nice despite the state of my hair- I g a color remover and cut both of which were amazing. the place was clean and nice and Arthur was great conversation (as well as the woman at the front desk). read more

Poor Marianne didn't see me coming. I specifically called and asked someone that could do African American hair. You could tell it was outside of her comfort zone, but she did great for what I needed it for. I got a silk press and she got it straighter than I would have at home. I'm sad to say, I was not happy with my hair cut. it's been quite some time since I had a haircut so my hair was down to low back. I brought in a video of what I wanted and left with a Dora the explorer haircut. my hair is now above my bra line now and not even close to what I asked for . I should have just went to Great clips for half the price and I'm sure would have got the same hair cut!! ‍ disappointed. Now I have to wait for it to grow out again and will be living in a ponytail. I will say that the hair stylist was nice and friendly. But just came up short on what I asked for!! read more

Listen up kids, this is not your grandma's salon. I have NEVER left a salon so happy with the results. EVER. And I've spent thousands of dollars at expensive salons. Gavin is a ROCKSTAR! He took the time to explain hair colors to me and made sure I was involved in the process. He was funny, kind, and a fabulous stylist! I would absolutely refer my friends to this salon. I was extremely upset with the service I received try to make an appt. with Christine at PV Location AZ. 6/28 I scheduled an appt. online for 6/28 then realized I had a repair man coming that day. Called to rebook abs was told she nothing available until 7/5 so I went a head and booked. Went online found an appt. on 6/30 for 2 45. Canceled 7/5 appt. and scheduled for 6/30. However works not take my color with it! So called talked to the manager and she had me speak to Christine as she requested. Christine claimed she would be able to fit both services with 2 45 appt. Was my understanding she was canceling 7/5 appt. and rebooting this appt. For 2 45 for both services. She then told me her price was $160 and online booking clearly stated $120. She insisted price to be $160! Okay then Sunday 6/29 Christine had someone else else call and stated she wanted me to keep the 7/5 appt. and cancel for 6/30. I claimed I needed before 7/5 and she indicated no go. I had her cancel all appts. ThenvI looked online to verify all this was now correct. She now had me booked for 3 45 on the 30th.I canceled online. This is very rude, unprofessional and disturbing! I Iive right across the street and was referred there! I had a great experience at the salon today. Shanta at the desk was lovely and professional. Jo did my hair. If you explain what you want done, she not only listens but follows thru. If you don't want your bangs cut she doesn't go and cut an inch or two off. She is adorable with an Irish brogue. She is an expert at doing hair in my opinion. First, Esthetician Joanna, once again delivered an AWESOME facial experience: skin analysis, consultation, mask, hydration, cleaning, warm towels, exfoliation and best of all, a relaxing massage of my face, shoulders, arms, hands, feet and legs! Next, Hair Stylist, Gene, asked about my daily hair routine, the "look" I wanted, offered suggestions, summarized what we decided, explained the products he planned to use, then colored, cut and styled my hair to perfection! Best of all: the scalp massage he gave me was splendid! Thanks to Karen G., check-out was easy and fun! She carefully explained each charge and introduced me to JCPenney Rewards which enabled me to shop the salon's extensive hair and beauty products right there in the salon! I want sing praises to Tyler at the JC Pennys salon in the Paradise Valley Mall. She was amazing! I woke up this morning and for the first time ever I just googled hair salons- and hoped I could get in somewhere today. (My usual stylist is 2 weeks wait) So, I went in with no referral, just a random shot in the dark. And Wow. Her pace was perfect, quick but not hurried, "skilled" would be my word. Her hands have finesse. I watched as she performed my full head highlight weave as she took the thinnest amount of hair, in order to correct the chunks my other stylist usually leaves. I asked for a shade lighter than what I walked in with, a bit of long layers and for her to give me some beach curl look. She nailed it on every point. Gave me a hair mask to thicken and correct the cuticle frizz, took her time blow drying, then as she curled, she showed me how to curl my hair in order to achieve the beautiful look she gave me. It was a shot in the dark and I hit the bullseye. Tyler is my new stylist!!!! The staff is great and today was a fun day! Plus they have the best deals on products as well. read more

Since moving here from Oklahoma, I had not really found a hair salon that I was 100% comfortable entrusting my ethnic hair to. I had gone to the JC Penney hair salon in Oklahoma and decided to call up the one in Longview, WA at the Three Rivers Mall. I was very pleasantly surprised. Carlena did my hair and even though she probably wasn't prepared for the coarseness or length of my hair she took her time and did a fantastic job. She explained to me what products she was using so I could use those products myself if I wanted to; however, I'd much rather have her do it for me since she did such a great job, and it was reasonably priced. The salon definitely needs more life as right now, one goes inside a creepy side gate and there seems to be no wow factor to it. They do a pretty good job on the hair and would definitely go back as it takes time to know your hair. They do not honor coupons here that Pennies offers and could create a more modern and cleaner environment. read more

I had someone random bleach my hair and pretty much thought I'd have to shave all my hair off. I've been to JCP salon before and told myself I'd never go back but once I got in a panic of no salons being open Sunday I saw Jcp Salon was open and told myself "well let me look at the reviews". I saw a ton about a China and immediate she got me in within 20 minutes! Once I got there (nervously) she didn't lecture me like almost every stylist does and she told me my options and she fixed it my hair Without having to shave it off!! She have me a balayage and toned it and we trimmed it up from a past hair stylist who had zero idea what he was doing!! I'm so happy about my hair and have been wanting this hair color for years!!! My stylist was great as usual, but this salon is a DUMP!!! The front counter people are terrible, and the whole place has a basement/abandoned attic feel. The walls are sad and plain, with the occasional super-faded oversized photograph of an ugly and dated style. read more

It has always been a struggle to find stylists that do long hair well. China did a fantastic job. I love it. Just the right amount ot blonde and she was able to keep most of the length. My daughter had her hair cut by MaryAnn, worst experience ever. If rude was part of the service, she certainly delivered. She made remarks about her hair that were not professional at all. I can't speak for the hair stylists, but the nail salon is terrible. I went once and got gel nails; they began chipping within a week. I had made a follow-up appointment the day I got my nails done, for Saturday 14 April. I called to cancel because I had an injury and couldn't make it. DIscovered that not only did the nail tech no longer work there, but no one had bothered to call me to reschedule or even inform me. The person who took my call didn't seem too concerned about it. I LOVE MICHELLE!!! I've followed her for what feels like a decade now. She left her former salon and sent me a postcard informing me that she'd be at JC Penney's. Thank God! She does the BEST LAYERS in my long hair. She's gifted at color, too. I've never had a perm or blowout so I can't review on that. She's sweet, funny, personable, and listens to what you want. But most of all she's GREAT AT WHAT SHE DOES and doesn't charge an astronomical fee. Sure it's inside a Penney's and in my (snobby) opinion is in desperate need of a facelift, but overall they have a decent supply of comparably priced haircare products, nail polish (high end and lower), etc. The receptionists are always friendly. My grandmother has been in town for the Winter and likes Penny's. I have to say I would give this place one star if not for Valentino, he does a good job. My issue with this place is the front desk staff. I have never seen anything like it. They get the appointment completely wrong or change the appt. on us last minute every single time. Just yesterday they called to change her appt. from 11:45AM to 1PM due to "a timing conflict." They also claimed we had a scheduled a standing Tuesday appointment through June, which makes no sense because she is leaving in March. They are just so unorganized and all around nightmare customer service, I would not recommend this salon to anyone especially for the price, $35-50 for a haircut. read more
