Nothing like a family run business for over the top service! Here it is, no edits... I called GKA Lighting in Milwaukie, OR and talked to JR, proprietor. His business has all kinds of lamp shades, oddities and antique lamps. A great resource. FIVE STARS ! Diane Nealey Portland. Oregon

I was amazed at the huge selection and variety of styles, and price points, they have. They have lighting to fit any style from basic and utilitarian to ooh-la-la dazzle 'em! And all types of lights you can think of: floor lamps, desk lamps, chandeliers, wall scones, carriage/outdoor/patio lights...heck they even had some really pretty night lights! And I know there are all kinds of categories I'm leaving out...but they have them. The staff were all very nice as well and gave me my space to just peruse their store. In the future when I need some lighting I know Globe Lighting will be on my list to pay a visit.

She went to retrieve my item at the pace of molasses and then proceeded with nonsensical chitchat while I tried to pay. When she saw that I was attempting to pay with Amex, she said, 'No. No way...' followed by more insulting nonsense. I walked out after saying, 'Have a good day.' The man who witnessed this interaction ran out to give me the item anyway. I initially refused because never in my life have I been treated with such animosity and contempt. However, after he explained her behavior, I took the item because I felt bad that he had to make the effort on behalf of this ghoul of a woman. I understand businesses' apprehension about taking Amex, but all she had to do was say (say it with me, lady), 'I'm sorry, we don't accept Amex. Do you have another form of payment?' and everything would have been peachy. Two thumbs downer than the downest down.

After about 5 minutes, I asked for some help from people standing nearby who had looked at me several times at the desk (they had looked straight at me prior). The woman said that there was 'quite a range' to which my reply was 'I can handle it.' It was obvious she didn't think I could because I was dressed in my 'day off clothes.' I left.
