I had been with them for 15years plus. once it changed hands to prime storage I became just a number. I had inside storage for my rv the price jumped up every six months. I asked them to fix the access door lock on several occasions to no avail. sometimes it was difficult to gain access to my coach. I decided to look for another location to my delight I found a place inside storage for less money they have only increased the rent twice in ten years. I can access my coach twenty four hours. I put in a secure compound. they will put it inside for me and get it ready when I need it. They have insurance to cover my property when in there care. FOR LES MONEY. read more

I would not recommend this location. The manager here was extremely unhelpful and difficult to deal with. Every time I had a question or needed assistance, it felt like I was bothering them. Communication was poor, and instead of trying to resolve issues, the manager made things more frustrating. The facility itself was fine -- clean and fairly secure -- but the customer service completely ruined the experience. When you're trusting a company with your belongings, you expect a little respect and professionalism, and that just wasn't the case here. Save yourself the headache and look for another storage facility in the area that actually values its customers. read more

Initial online sign up price is misleading. Bait and switch. Charging twice the advertised price once all fees are added. We were shocked by the unprofessional and rude behavior demonstrated by the so called "Manager" on site. Just awful. This place is sketchy in every possible way. The front desk associate was friendly enough, but he was in training and was unable to assist. He used a kiosk to asked for assistance. The remote worker was also rude, very unprofessional tone and demeanor. Good riddance. read more

All my positive points apply to the previous owners. Since new owners have taken over rent has increased twice, payment method eliminated, insurance increased (if you don't have your own. It is cheaper to buy your own because 3-4 months of the insurance under what Prime offers is nearly enough to pay for a 12 month policy that covers where you live.) They added an admin. fee and the rates are advertised as web rate only with no disclosure of how long that rate applies. It is cheaper to for me to get a bigger & better unit now, at a cheaper than what I pay now and even paid before this months NEW increase. The rate increase on current units is frustrating. Paying more for something more is one thing but another increase and nothing to justify it is just greed. The staff I am sure is lovely. They work for someone else so my issues with the greed that comes are on the new owners. Never looking out for the people who make them rich only using them to get Richer! read more

I have been using the storage facility for a few years. Now. Every time I go there. The staff is very friendly, and the facility is always clean. I want to send a big shout out to Phil and Carrel. We constantly make sure that my nature taken care of, and when I have any questions, they're ready to answer and find a solution. BEST LEASE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! And that goes for all rental/leases throughout my life. It was simple and straight forward. Staff was awesome! Even when I came back after finalizing my agreement 5 minutes later once I realized I would need a bigger unit. Within 10-15 minutes I had my new unit and all my new paperwork. The original deal you see online to book turns out to be more with the required insurance. Then in another month you will be informed via email your rates are going up. Even if you are paid through the month you will be charged $35 if you move out and don't provide a 3 day notice. You will still pay for the whole month though on top of that. If you ask for them to email a copy of your contract they will respond with "well you should have a copy of that." Overall I'd go somewhere else. Never help customers. I have two units and tried to switch to a bigger size but they told me that they would raise my rent their by 50 bucks higher. The front desk lady Connie was super rude and disrespectful and told me that if I didn't like the fact that they were going to raise my rent to switch, " I could just leave and find somewhere else to go." Prime storage does not supervise their employees and the fact that they have renters there sleeping in the units all the way in the back. Completely ridiculous . read more

Did the reservation on line. They charge my card I show up to the storage and I need to sign some last form in order to get my gate code and unit unlocked. But on that particular day there's no one there. They charge me. I loaded up my u-haul only to have no one be able to check me in. I call back the (760)642-1140 and the operators on the other end could care less and since i'm not making a purchase they are short and unhelpful. Truly lousy company. read more

They lied to you, asked about dumping since I was cleaning my unit, was told it was a charged of $75.00. Then when I wanted to dump they told me I was not allowed. Then made a claim that it was not their fault since it was not them who told me, and I misheard. There is no accountability with this company for some so simple. Melinda who works the front desk at Stor'em was amazing- the first time I visited, I flew in trying to find a place to store my husbands Jeep (totally frustrated) last month- in a hurry- trying to make my flight- she was quick and super helpful and helped me find a sollution. So this month it was time to move all my business stuff to a new storage facility- again Melinda totally set me up- was completely flexible and helped me find the right size space for our things. Over the last 2 years that I've been here, I've found that this facility rarely seems to care about the customer service aspect of those that they hire in the front office. The office at times is closed mid-afternoon with nobody around so that the day person can go do office chores, I guess, no one at the facility other than the "will return" clock sign. Today, I was followed about 50 feet from the office door towards the entrance gate at about 2:30pm by the manager on duty while she was shaking her finger and yelling at me. This has never happened to me in any such situation. Before I went to the office, I was on the property and the phone rolled to the call center. They told me the office staff was busy. I walked a few aisles to the office, only the manager was there, no customers in the office manager not in the phone, etc. Answering phones is a part of the front office duties, isn't it? In the self storage business, where you're renting only square footage, which is pretty similar, customer service and customer relationships too matter. Storem needs to post a few jobs on www.retirementjobs.com and compare walk-in employees to employees found on www.retirementjobs.com. The young generation is not cutting it in today's competitive economy in a lot of businesses. The gate is wide open today (7/10/21), broken again, anyone can enter, I hope the guy that parks the Matco Tools showroom truck on the property knows...reasons why they never take down the "now hiring" sign and "drive-up units available" sign. Today I was harassed by the office girl. I had parked my van next to a curb. I had been fighting a terminal diagnosis and need a few minutes to rest. So this office lady said I could not be just sitting in my car. I explained I was waiting for some help to load my stuff and that my rent was all paid up.. Again she went on how I could not just sit. That was not the first incident either. On a very cold day I had closed the roll up doors and she tracked me down and said I could not have the door closed while there. Needless to say the open door cut my visit very short and messed up my whole plan for the day. If u want anal security u could rent a unit for them and deal with the lady that should have been a border patrol agent!! read more

I have been renting here for about a year. I'm thinking of moving. They have raised the rent 2x in 12months. Its dirty. Please pay a tad more and rent somewhere that knows how to abide by their quotes. read more

Thanks for the update Roy. You basically confirmed everything I said. You rent a space and provide inadequate security. You take no responsibility for anything that happens on the property. When something is broken into or stolen, you take a step back and say "We aren't responsible, we have a gate that needs an access code and our security cameras are horrible because they have NEVER helped the San Marcos PD find and prosecute anyone." Rent keeps going up but you provide no additional services to warrant the price increase. read more

This place has very clean units made of steel, not wood, so any fire damage risk is very low. The units have lights and many are drive-up. The staff are good and helpful. Prices are kind of high for the space size and it seems like the charges go up quite a bit from year to year, otherwise a good place. read more

Checked on prices before renting and was never told about the $15 administrative fee. Got hit with it when I went to rent a unit. $15 fee for doing their job. Felt ripped off. Read on YELP that other SD Storage yards were offering 1st month free. Never was offered that either. Oh well, only plan on renting it for a couple of months anyway. Only good thing is they give a military discount. read more
