In February 2018, we contracted with Renewal by Andersen to have nineteen widows replaced, including three bay windows. Suffice it to say, Frank Saterlee's 'Prime Line Decorating' was recommended by at least three Renewal by Andersen representatives. Their relationship is obviously very close. Since we had spent nearly $50,000 on window replacements, it was tantamount that the window staining be completed with precision and above-average workmanship. We contracted with 'Prime Line Decorating' for early March, and the crew came up (we live in a mountain community in Colorado) and they went to work. They completed the work in two or three days. We were happy with the results with the exception of the bay windows, where the installers necessarily had to drill 1/2" screw holes into the wood casings in order to secure the bays to the house. The 'Prime Line Decorating' crew had filled those holes with putty, which, even after a week, had turned gray. I contacted Frank via email, and sent pictures of the discolored putty. He responded that the putty had most likely "oxidized" and said he would be happy to send someone up to remediate the problem. When Frank's employee came up to attend to the discolored putty--the same employee who had supervised the original work--he appeared to be unsure of what it was we wanted him to do. Frank's earlier email response to me had included a proposed remediation--sanding, new 'grained' putty, and re-staining. We read Frank's email to the employee who then got to work. After he left, we noticed there were now streaks leading from each of the puttied screw holes. We decided to wait overnight to see if the streaks would disappear once the staining/poly application dried. They didn't. Again, I contacted Frank, explaining the new issue, along with pictures. He replied that he would come up, along with the employee whom he'd relied upon to fix the issue. Long story short, I thanked Frank for his willingness to attempt to correct the problem, but told him that we would go another route, and get some advice on what to do elsewhere. The remedy we found for the obtrusive 1/2 screw holes was to drill out the putty, and insert stained plugs in those holes. Also, when we corrected that problem, we found that the poly topcoat Frank's employee had applied, and reapplied was grainy, even to extent that the Swiffer duster snagged on it. Therefore, we sanded off all the poly, re-stained the area, inserted the plugs, and applied a new coat of poly over it all. We are pleased with the result. Again, we were very pleased with 'Prime Line Decorating's' work on every window with the exception of the three bay windows with the 1/2" screw holes. I would caution anyone who hires any contractor--not just 'Prime Line..."--to stain bay windows, that you be aware of the potential for issues with the large screw holes necessary to attach the bays to the structure. So we remodeled our house, and our "dear" contractor installed unfinished doors and would not finished them (yes, that was fun). Anyway, we were tired after 7 months of remodeling and gave Primeline a call. The owner (i think) came, and gave us a quote. 80 usd per door to refinish. Seems a little pricey but here is where we liked it : he came the time and day he said he would come for the quote, he came the time and day he said he would come for the work. He matched the color of the doors perfectly to the kitchen cabinets has we asked him to, the stuff they used is water based, no bad smell. They worked around our baby nap hours (thank you thank you) and even finished her bedroom door in the house so that it does not disturb her (thank you). So yeah i liked them. I wish it had been cheaper, but i can ask for the moon too. read more

On Behalf of one of our customers: Jesus did a very nice job and was more than willing to accommodate my needs. I'm not sure whether or not he wiped down with the Naptha after sanding, as described in my proposal, but you would need to ask him about that. Also, there was some paint blotching and once I pointed it out to him, I believe he resolved the issue. It's too cloudy today to tell and as of now, the windows look amazing. Sometimes it's so hard to get good, reliable help. This is not the case with the team at Prime Line decorating. We asked them to stain and repair our wood baseboards, doors and windows. They provided a good quote, showed up on time, and did excellent work. More importantly, they were thoroughly professional and courteous the entire time. They estimated two days to perform the work, but they were able to arrive with one extra worker which meant they were finished in one day. What a pleasant surprise! We used Prime Line to paint our recently replaced windows and doors. They were recommended to us by our Renewal by Andersen representative and although their estimate was a bit higher than others we received, it was much more detailed and they "sold us" on Prime Line's experience and expertise. Unfortunately, "expertise" is not what we received. We had to explain our simple project (two windows, two sliding doors) to three different Prime Line people on three separate occasions. Each time, the person had no clue what the project really was - despite having access to the detailed estimate document. When the day of painting finally came, the team assured us it would be done in a day as we had agreed. Then, we had to stop one of the painters from painting the pre-fab frames of one of the windows (which isn't supposed to be painted, ever). Getting worried that they didn't really know what they were doing, we asked them to confirm that they would be able to complete our third story window that day - they confirmed they would. This was an obvious concern to us because we didn't see them bring a ladder that we felt was tall enough (even though we explained to/reminded them at each project explanation - of the three times I mentioned above, plus via email - that they would need a VERY tall ladder to reach our back window. At 3 pm they finally acknowledged that they couldn't complete the job that day because they didn't have a ladder tall enough. It's amazing that a team with such "expertise" was oblivious to that fact, despite being asked about it multiple times, until the end of the day. They came back the next day to finish the job. The end result was OK; although one of the doors they painted sticks a bit now. The bottom line though is that they don't have the "expertise" that would justify the higher price tag and unless you like to spend your day supervising painters, I would look elsewhere. read more

We used Frank's crew to finish our new windows from Renewal by Anderson and were delighted working with Prime Line Decorating. Firstly the stain product is amazing as it matched our desired color to perfection and the water base solution does not have any odor. The painters are true professionals and performed the application to perfection. Although the price is high, the workmanship quality is truly worth the price. We had a very dark brown stain on rough cedar siding that we did not like. We wanted a much lighter shade. Prime Line (particularly Jesus) did a great job. It took a while, but that was due to the nature of the job. They put on the natural finish and we now have our old house back again. The cost of the job was very reasonable. We got a quote from someone else who did not know if they could do the job that was about the same, excluding labor for the stain removal. read more
