We went there for a Formal Business Dinner. They have great wine and Steak options. We were a party of 5. Two of us got the Japanese Wagyu, one of us got the Filet Mignon 8oz, one got the salmon and I got the Chicken Marsala. The starters we had were: Tuna Poke, Calamari & Coconut Shrimp. I liked Coconut shrimp the best. For our sides we got Asparagus, Carrots and Baked Potato. We had two bottles of Pinot Noir for the table and it was light and good. This was my second visit here during a business conference. Each time I've been, the service has been excellent and the food definitely matched the service. While this isn't the best steakhouse I've been to, it is definitely in the top 10. This go around, I had the 12 filet with the truffle butter. It was exceptionally good and the truffle butter was well worth the extra cost. The steak was a tad undercooked for medium rare, it was still very good. As always, the restaurant was quite busy, so the restaurant was a tad bit loud but not uncommon for a busy restaurant. If you enjoy higher end steakhouses, this is worth the time, but make sure to get a reservation. read more

during a recent visit to Prime 47, it wasn't "up to par". we ordered the caprese salad and crab cakes. the cheese for the caprese salad was actually burrata and not the typical buffalo mozzarella and was watery in the middle. the tomato was thin slices of sundried tomato. crab cakes was even worse. the plate was scalding hot and the crab cakes were cold. ample size, but the middle was the consistency of wet cat food. with all of the restaurants in the area, we will not be returning. read more

My husband has officially named Prime 47 his favorite place. We come here several times a year and always to the downtown location. I've had my birthday dinner here, anniversary dinners, hosted a friend's birthday dinner in their private dining area, and countless date nights. I've always been seated immediately and received wonderful service with every single dining experience. My husband loves his steaks always come out correctly. I love the quality of food is consistent. I never worry about ordering something and its not palatable. We ordered the bread and coconut shrimp for appetizers recently. Prime 47 was a great spot for our group of 16. We made reservations months in advance and this place did not disappoint. The highlight of my meal was the shrimp cocktail and scallops. Went here last week with a group of friends for a birthday celebration before hockey game, never again. Starting off, the place smelled like a restroom, and the bread was too hard. Next come the entres, my friend ordered the $140 tomahawk and it was cooked "well done". The mac n cheese was bland with no flavor. First time here!!!! When I say it didn't disappoint at all! First Ladies/hostess were wrongful. Then we got seated, Jamie our waitress was one of the best waitress I've ever had. Most of us ordered the lamb chops, I'll give them 4 out 5. Then we got mushrooms, Brussel sprouts, sea bass, wedge lettuce, lobster Mac and cheese. Man oh man. First off, the scenary at the hostess station is on point. Drove out from The Nati to see some friends and decided to stay the night in downtown Indy. Was searching for the best steak in town and this was 2nd on the list. The other place was fully booked tonight so here I am. The interior space is exsquisite and has an old world feel to it. Tall ceilings with lots and lots of space Bar seating, high top tables off the hostess station and a massive dining room Borderline roaring 20's meets millennial d bags. Not in a bad way. Just in a way. The menu options are solid and I'm sure the cheese tortellini are delish. I'm confident the stuffed chicken breast is decent. But, I didn't show up at Prime 47 to order pasta or poultry y'all. I came for beef. Cow! Steer! That said, I ordered a Caesar salad with double croutons and double anchovies. The salad was dressed well. Enough dressing for proper flavor but not too soggy. Crisp lettuce and shaved parmesan cheese. The star of the dish for me, hands down, arr the fresh anchovies. Absolutely beautiful shine to the skin, filleted perfectly and left to do their thing. Fresh anchovies don't need salt or pepper or anything for that matter. Maybe a drizzle of expensive, unfiltered olive oil. They need to be left alone and these suckers were. Delicious start to my meal. ***Now, if you are reading this review, please pause and review my photos. Please do it. Done? Thank you.*** Okay, you just saw a massive hunk of dry aged prime US of A beef and you also saw that it was barely cooked and the inside was almost blue, right? Okay, because that's a steak prepared by a chef. Not a line cook not a short order diner cook. A chef! A woman or man who is trusted with the grill on Friday night has a massive responsibility and this chef nailed it. The exterior crust was seared hard and created the stunning crust that steak lovers die for. Crusty, charred, salty and fatty goodness The first cut is always the most exciting right? It exposed the nearly raw center and boy oh boy. The flavors were exceptional. Perfectly salted and seasoned with.... I can't place it but it will come to me whilst I burn a cigar in a few. Service by team #10 (how interesting is that?) was on point. My waiter, Walter, was funny, well spoken, smiled a lot and took great care of me. Hands down, the best service and food we have ever gotten in Indy. Chris, Andy, and manager Armando were absolutely incredible. They took such great care of us. We never felt rushed and were able to enjoy every bit of food we ordered. Started with the Calamari and Rock Shrimp appetizer.....big enough to feed 4 people! The Calamari was cooked perfectly! Love when restaurants serve the tentacles and rings. So good. House salad was delicious and what our bodies craved after a weekend of stadium food. For dinner, we shared the Waygu World Tour. Perfect for us as I am usually full by this point. You get a small portion of Japanese Waygu, Australian Waygu, and American Prime filet. All were delicious but Australian was my favorite of the 3. For the sides, we picked Jalapeno Au Gratin, Grilled Asparagus with Hollandaise, and Roasted Carrots with Whipped Maple Ricotta. Wowza!!! All 3 were tasty! I was also impressed with their Prime 47 Old Fashioned that was on Draft. I'm always leery of drinks on tap but I would order this again. We were too full for dessert but miraculously, a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie with ice cream appeared at our table. I forced myself to eat the deliciousness. When two stars (according to yelp) means "Could've been better" this truly is the case with our experience. A party of 10, business dinner, 6 steaks were undercooked and cool to the touch. All were taken back, apps refreshed and most came back either close or overdone, I (as the host) NEVER complain unless things are this egregious, but one of my customers pushed back from the table and spoke to the server. He may have gone too far with his "this isint Applebees" comment was a bit over the top, but hey, he's jersey. A round of shots no one asked for and two "half baked" cookies were delivered and I have to say, this was so absolutely disgusting, people said it took the poor experience and made it worse. I concur. $1600 for dinner and I didn't eat my steak. I will say the bright spot was the Meatball app, that was quite good. To be further honest, I would have delayed this review and tried to contact them directly, but they have no means of contact other than event planning. I WILL update this if they reach out. Went to dinner with my daughter on a free night. It was nice to relax and enjoy a great dining experience. Our server and assistants were very involved and happy to accommodate our choices. We started with coconut shrimp. Very good even without the sauce you've come to expect. We also split a beat salad. Amazing! And, split the filet and scallops. The kitchen split the steak and served a beautiful entree for us both. A couple of great sides and we were stuffed. But still had dessert. It was a perfect meal without the pressure of too much food. Our experience couldn't have gone more poorly at Prime 47. My wife ordered an 8 oz sirloin, medium. I ordered the New York Strip, medium rare. We got Mac and Cheese and Brussels Sprouts to share. Immediately we realized our steaks were overdone by two degrees. My wife's was well done, and mine was medium well. I normally hate to send something back, but when you're paying 60+ for each steak a la carte, I expect them to be cooked as ordered, so we sent them back. We started to eat our Mac and cheese (it was really good!) and our Brussels Sprouts. The sprouts had not had the stems cut off and were nearly inedible. We actually found several whole stems tossed in for good measure (see pic). When our steaks came back out, we were brought fresh sides, but this time, our steaks were egregiously undercooked by a factor of two degrees! My wife's was rare and mine was blue! We ate what we could, because I was not about to send them back a second time. Our waiter then handed us a dessert menu and told us dessert was on the house, but then never came back and they brought us a dessert without us ever having actually picked what we wanted. (Fortunately, it was good). Oh, the table bread was also good. I don't know if they were training a new staff tonight or what, but we would have been better off going to Outback and saving $150! read more

This is one of my favorite 3 steakhouses in the city and I would recommend it to anyone for a nice dinner out; it has a great ambiance, large menu, and fantastic staff! I had a wagyu steak and it was absolutely fantastic, one of the best steaks I've ever had. I went with a group of friends for our annual holiday dinner and the steaks they had (filet, NY strip, and ribeye) were also all incredible and they had nothing but praise about them, all cooked perfectly. We also had calamari appetizer, which I would recommend; as well as the lobster Mac and cheese side with is a must have, best I've ever had. We did not save room for dessert but they sounded incredible, and I'm sure they are given the rest of our experience. First time going to Prime 47 and it was awfully tasty! We started off with a shrimp cocktail and house salads. The shrimp were huge and the cocktail sauce was spicy. I got the NY strip and it was a very good size. It was cooked just like I requested and had such good flavor that I didn't feel like I needed any steak sauce or anything else. I could only eat half and took the other half home for a Sunday lunch. The truffle fries were a hefty portion, crispy and had a nice saltiness from the Parmesan cheese. I should have shared them with my husband, but we both opted for our own sides. He got the filet mignon and scalloped potatoes. I wasn't a huge fan of the scalloped potatoes due to the cream. The quality of the shrimp is actually better than St. Elmo's. The shrimp was jumbo, firm and delicious. I also ordered the KC Bone-in steak and it will tasty and delicious even without the sauce. Nice crust and temperature came out just as I requested. I had 2 sides: corn and baked potato. And the peppercorn sauce for $4 more. And all these were ok. I didn't like it all that much. The service as soon as we arrived was very good. They offer valet parking so we could go straight into the restaurant without having the hassle of finding somewhere close by available. The maître d' and his staff were very pleasant as we went into the stylish surroundings and seated us. Our daughter ordered a smooth and blended red wine (can't remember what it was), my wife ordered a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rose NV Champagne (delicious), I had Heineken, the rest of the table shared the wine and champagne. We all ordered appetisers and a entree; I had spinach salad to start, with Surf and turf (8oz filet mignon and a lobster tail) with a creamy parmasan topping, and a side of jalapinos au gratin. Elle had no starter, a surf and turf with creamy parmasan topping with a side of grilled aspargus with hollandaise and a jacket potato, another of us had lobster bisque to start and the world tour for his main (this is 3 oz Australian Wagyu, 3 oz Japanese Wagyu & 2oz American Prime Filet) with lobster mac and cheese as a side. Our daughter had shrimp cocktail and a new york strip for main with potatoes. Our grandson had prime meatballs and a southwestern salad. And the final member of our party had the house salad to start with a 8oz filet mignon and a side of mashed potatoes. All the food was delicious. My salad was good enough to eat just by itself! However, my filet mignon was the best tasting and cooked steak I've ever had! Truly delicious, the jalapinos au gratin could have been a little more firey (but that's a personal preference). The lobster was well cooked, but was over shadowed by just how good the steak was! I tried the mac and cheese which was also delicious. All in all if you want your steak as close to perfection as possible it's worth a visit. Is it cheap? Not at all. We paid $91 each for the surf and turf, the Rose champagne was $170 for a bottle, and the "world tour" is $96. But was it worth it? Yes. We were all satisfied and very happy with our food. If you only eat somewhere like this once or twice a year, it's worth giving yourself the experience. Ate here with a large group of 15 people, during a busy downtown evening during a Pacers game. I was greeted immediately by the hostess and taken upstairs to the table. Each place was set with a menu already out. As we waited for everyone to arrive, the waiter greeted each of us and took our drink order. The nice thing was that there was a waiter station right behind our table, so it never took long for anything to arrive. Everything seemed perfectly spaced out, time wise. My only complaint is that the bread and butter seemed to arrive late (with our salads, after people had already received appetizers). We came for the Devour Indy menu, but several items were ordered from the regular menu. I ordered the field greens salad, salmon with rock shrimp and added a mashed potato, and chocolate cake dessert. Everything was fabulous. I had gone in planning to order a filet minion, which I have had from there before and LOVED. However, the filet on the devour menu had toppings and marinade that I did not seem appealing. I'm so glad I went with the salmon, because it was delicious, and I got the little extra shrimp too. The chocolate cake was sooo rich, I don't think anyone at the table finished it. The bread they serve is seasoned with garlic and very tasty. The service was good. We had a main waiter and then an additional waitress who was helping with service. Plates were cleared in a timely fashion and all of our individual bills were handled swiftly. We only had a minor problem when food service arrived with figuring out what plates belonged to whom. They got a lot of them confused. But no one ended up without what they ordered. And only one steak needed cooked a little more. Everyone seemed to enjoy their entrees except the steak frites. Both people who ordered that, said they weren't that good. No one at the table ordered the lamb option, so I can't review that. Overall, and excellent place to dine. I was lucky enough to visit Prime 47 on Valentine's Day 2017, and what a pleasant evening I had! We made reservations about a week in advance, which is saying a lot because everything else was full. I managed to snag a 5:30 dinner time. The restaurant is gorgeous; a two story corner building downtown with a rustic feel. The hostesses were handing out single roses for all of the ladies which I felt was a nice touch. We ended up being seated upstairs, which was a section overlooking the lower level and huge windows to look through. It was a bit crowded up there but cozy. There was a special menu for the evening, (which I believe we ordered from) which was the surf and turf. The lobster Mac and Cheese and a second side we ordered together, as those portions are shareable. I enjoyed the meal very much. Great service from staff, lovely live music being played, and a memorable evening overall. One star off because food was not piping hot by the time it came out.
