We came into Prime 39 to participate in restaurant week. Few days prior, I called ahead and was informed they were completely booked...so we knew there was a possibility of not getting a table and we settled for bar seating. Thanks to the kind people at the front, our party of 4 was able to dine at a proper table after 45 minute wait. Our server was fantastic, her name is Kelisha. Professional, courteous attentive you name it she was it. The vibe is urban chic, 90s/early 2000s playlist in the background at a tolerable level so you are not shouting. The food was tasteful. Everyone was satisfied. The drinks were not watered down which is good considering the price ($16). Writing this review at 4:11am after dining here last night. So you can already tell it's not going to be good. I have dined here 4-5 times, so I become a loyal customer when it's good. Unfortunately, last night's food wasn't good at all. Now I read the current reviews but still ordered a certain item anyway because that wasn't my previous experience with it. He ordered the lamb chops, bang shrimp, regular fries & the Viking creed. I ordered the Thai chili calamari (which was my favorite), wings well done, regular fries & prime royale. So Juan didn't make our drinks which was the #1 issue. He said Viking creed wasn't like how Juan makes it. Had a different color. Prime Royale definitely had a medicine taste to it. He enjoyed his food, I had a shrimp which had too much batter for me. The lamb chop was good. My food....Thai chili calamari wasn't good at all! Current reviews complained of it being soggy & soaked in sauce...and they were absolutely right!! The calamari should be cooked to order so that it's fresh. My order wasn't fresh. Coating on the calamari wasn't crisp and it was swimming in sauce. The Thai sauce isn't supposed to be the star of the show. It requires a dazzle not a flood. Wings & fries were ok. So as a write this review at 4:11am, you can imagine what happened to me at 3:38am. Sharp pains in my stomach woke me out of my sleep & had me running to the bathroom. After sweating profusely, feeling lightheaded, sharp abdomen pain, recovering from pins & needles in my legs & diarrhea ....I can clearly tell what caused this early morning episode. read more

So the ambience was nice. Not too loud that ou could not speak. It's not a huge place so can see why the reservations book so quickly but also expected a packed house for our early reservation when it was so hard to get one. Our server Jewel was very nice very well versed on the menu and gave goof recommendations. We shared appetizers and a side we had the salmon slides, crabcakes , salt and peeper shrimp , and lobster Mac and cheese. I had the Électrique drink and my friend had basically a cucumber martini but I can't remember the cute name. The salmon sliders were a bit fishy to be honest not full of flavor and just a pixel of salmon on a bun. The crab cakes were meaty not bready at all and the sauce added great flavor. The shrimp was good nothing spectacular again the sauce helped it. The lobster Mac and cheese was a good portion and topped with lobster. For 4 appetizers and 2 drinks it was a hearty bill and it wasn't the most spectacular food experience. I will try it again and just go for a main dish or the brunch and see how that goes. read more

Ok so... I visited Prime 39 during NYC restaurant week, and though it's in LI, I thought it was cool that they still had a pre-fix menu. I went to the restaurant as a walk-in because there were no reservations available, and when I called I was told I'd be able to walk-in. Upon arrival (6:02pm) the bar was full, and I was told by the 2 ladies up front that I'd be placed on the waitlist and be able to be seated once the bar is available or if there were reservation cancellations. Right then, I noticed that there were 2 available tables. We sat and waited very patiently. Time went by I asked about the tables and questioned why we couldn't sit there since no one is seated. They explained that they had a 2 hour limit to each table and that the table was reserved for 7pm. So for a whole hour the 2 tables sat empty. 7pm came I asked about the tables again. They said "Oh they have a 15 minute grace period". One of the parties came in at 7:08pm and they sat her there alone as she waited for her guest. 7:30 came and I was getting frustrated. 1 because usually people aren't seated until the full party arrives; 2 the 2 girls didn't even check in to update us the whole wait, I had to go to them and ask questions (mind you.. we were directly across from the booth), 3 we could've sat down, ate, and left within the hour & a half wait. At that point I asked to speak to the manager. The manager (Nicole) came to speak to us. She was very nice and professional. She explained the policy to us, including the 2 hour limit. She was very apologetic and went to check up on bar availability. Within 10 minutes she was able to accommodate us at the bar. She apologized for the wait, thanked us for our patience, and gave us Frose' on the house. Once we were seated the bartender (Kai) greeted us. He was very pleasant from the time we sat down up until we left. Aside from my initial frustration. I was very pleased with the restaurant. The food was amazing and plated very well. I'm all about visual presentation and it was visually pleasing and tasted DELICIOUS. The carrot cake was AMAZING. I had The salmon, sweet potato mash, & spinach, which was soooo good. We got there when the kitchen just closed after brunch and was pteparing for sunday dinner. On sundays they have a prefix menu with various choices. We ordered drinks which was reccomended by our waitress. They were tasty and balanced. The appetizers were soo good, the salt and peper shrimp spot on and wings crispy and well sauced. I came to Prime 39 for my 35th birthday. From what I can remember, I had a great time. I sent a couple of restaurant ideas to my mom and she decided that she wanted to come here for her 73rd birthday. I initially made the reservation on OpenTable, but it only allowed me to reserve a maximum of 6 people. In the notes I mentioned for the restaurant to give me a call since they didn't open until 5 PM. The restaurant did give me a call and advise me It would be a $20 deposit per person for 10 people. After mentioning one of the persons would be an infant I only had to pay a deposit for 9. Unfortunately, the machine to take the deposit wasn't working. I made several attempts to pay even calling multiple times but they decided to just make the reservation without the deposit and basically just taking my word for it. I thought that was nice. The reservation was for 830 and we arrived at 8:15 Friday night. They had a dj and most of the tables had patrons. The atmosphere and ambiance was really nice. I brought my Mother a cake and was told by the hostess it would be $45 to put sparkles and cut it. I admit I was a little agitated by that. I've never had to pay fee at any other restaurant. I mentioned it wasn't told to me or mention on open table or the website. Just like the $20 pp deposit. At that time a woman came up to the hostess stand which later She told me she was a manager. She mentioned to me all of this was mentioned in the email confirmation I received. I go to check my email and the only confirmation I received was from OpenTable. No mention of a deposit or cake fee. I let her know I didn't get an email confirmation from the restaurant directly. In my mind I'm thinking if the restaurant is aware of a birthday being celebrated, why not mention dessert options or mention the cake charge verbally on the phone when making the reservation? Why wait after a deposit is made and send all the information in an email? At first I was going to pay it but after thinking about it, I told them to forget it. We get seated in the back. It was able to comfortably accommodate my family. As I sat down and looked at the menu I realized it was a prefixed menu. It didn't seem bad at $65 pp but I wanted to make my own food choices. The same woman (manager) whom is now our server mentioned the email again. Aware that I told her I didn't get the email, she told us it would be ok for the table to order from the regular menu. I started off with the drink "Peaches" which was very strong and took me awhile to finish -10/10. My mom ordered the calamari - 8/10 because it wasn't hot. The char broiled oysters i least enjoyed 4/10 but my sister loved them. 3 of us ordered the half rack of lamb chops which was tasty 100/10. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with mash potato's and broccolini 6/10. The shrimp was ok I didn't really care for the mashed potatoes and the broccolini had no flavor at all. The creamed spinach was -10/10. I genuinely feel like none of the food was hot but room temp. I also feel like $10 per side at the amount they gave wasn't worth it. All in all despite the miscommunication we enjoyed dinner. I really appreciate the manager going the extra mile and making things right. She ended up serving the cake with sparkles for no extra charge. She mentioned it wasn't my fault that the machine wasn't working to take the deposit and the lady who was helping me with that was concerned about the deposit and forgot to send the email. Will I return idk. But I will say the restaurant should definitely mention the stipulations and options for larger groups. I'm big on transparency and go to restaurants A LOT! I read a couple reviews on google and see that the restaurant responds to all of them. I would hope they take the customers experience into consideration and make the proper changes. Stumbled upon prime 39 looking for a good brunch in Long Island. This is in Lynbrook LI walking distance from the train stations and local buses. Stumbled upon LIS best kept secret! Everything was a 10/10 from the service, the music, the ambiance, everything was perfect. So much so I made it a priority to do my first review. Love to support a black owned business so that was a plus. For brunch you get a PERSONAL bottle or pitcher you can choose from mimosas,Bellinis, R or W sangria, moscato, and more. We left LIT! Maple bacon with mustard- sweet & thick, bang shrimp- light crispy soft & tasty sauce, lamb chop lollipops so tasty with a little crunch, shrimp pasta with asparagus, sun dried tomatoes, & soft juicy shrimp, wagyu steak top tier perfection, creamed spinach perfect, mashed potatoes creamy tasty with a sweet crunch as the last flavor, chocolate cake rich and delicious, carpet cake spiced moist and great. When I say I enjoyed this restaurant, I'm glad I took the trek to Long Island. The food, drinks and ambiance were great and the music was right!! The best cocktail was the Lychee Martini. The margarita was yummy as well. The Fenty was a bit too sweet and reminded me of Kool Aid. You feel the drinks here strong and they are flavorful. The food was great. The sliders were a bit over cooked but we were given another order to go, courtesy of the owner. The must have is the lamp chops; fall off the bone tender and flavorful. Heavenly!! The jerk salmon dish was well prepared and those mash were so good. They have happy hour and have late night parties on Friday and Saturday. The music was on point. This restaurant is right next to the LIRR if you don't want to drive. Our experience here was amazing and I want to thank the owner and staff for their hospitality. We ordered the oysters, the mussels, and the lollipop lamb chops and they were so good!!! They also had a variety of cocktails for nine dollars, doesn't get better than that!!! I did notice the service was a little slower, but it was also packed in there, so keep that in mind. For dinner we had the Wagyu, the salad, the rib-eye and the fried chicken. What a great little gem in Lynbrook :) The atmosphere is very cute and modern, with great music. We were seated immediately for our 5 PM reservation on a Friday night, and the restaurant was not too terribly packed! Chaz, our server, was attentive and made great recommendations for the whole meal. We started with Fenty cocktails, which were fantastic. My family (party of 6) dined at Prime 39 for my 30th Birthday Weekend. We made a reservation on open table for 6pm and our area was prepared when we arrived. I was excited to try this restaurant as it has been recommended by many people I know. I was even more ready to support a black owned restaurant/business on a milestone birthday. Prime 39 is located in Lynbrook's "downtown area." Ample street parking and municipal parking nearby. It is a small restaurant with a bar, long booths for dining, and a bathroom in the rear. The lighting was dim and the décor was cute. Food was presented/plated well, and the drinks were good. I tried the "Oui" (bird glass) drink and it tasted like a nice punch. My family had other drinks and their typical go-to's (they have a full bar). For appetizers we had the wings, which I felt were a tad bit small for the price, and I had the ribeye which was cooked well (seasoned well and no need for the side of steak sauce at all). I also liked the side of mashed potato's. For desert they brought out ice cream and waffles with sparklers which was a pleasant end to the night. The only concerns I had with the restaurant was the turn around time for drinks and the meal. My family originally thought it was just our table, but when glancing at others we realized they didn't have appetizers or drinks yet either. A cousin who visited a couple of weekends before noticed this as well. Secondly, we were totally expecting the gratuity to be added because of the party size. However, when checking the credit card statement they added what we speculate to be an additional tip since the charge was different than what was signed for. The gratuity they included was more than enough to cover for the long wait times and "so-so" service by our waiter. All in all I may try again for apps and drinks. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my experience here at prime 39. My friend wanted to go here for her birthday dinner and while I'm not normally a fan of the "lounge" ambiance, it was a very chill place. I actually almost missed the restaurant because the store front is a tad small & everything is all black, but once inside it's very cute with a large bar in the front surrounded by tables for dinner. The music is pretty loud as expected, so I wouldn't suggest coming here for a family meal. The drink menu is really creative and I had a hard time choosing because everything sounded good! I ended up going with the "unlocked primetini" which tasted pretty much like a cosmo. It was strong & sweet, just how I like it. To eat- we split everything: Calamari- cooked perfectly & flavorful. Def recommend Salt & pepper shrimp- also really good. The shrimps were pretty big too. Tasty sauce. Salmon sliders- they were ok, my friend liked them tho. Semi-spicy sauce. Lobster Mac & cheese- I would pass on this, the cheese was watery & lacked flavor. Sea bass- this was pretty good. Really big piece of fish. I came here for a birthday party. Upon entering the establishment, the lights were dim, and the music was playing pretty loudly, but not loud enough for me to feel it beating through my chest. There are 2 chandeliers in the room. One in the front and another towards the back. I'm not sure if they are able to change the colors, but on this particular night, they were lit in pink. It was very pretty and added to the atmosphere. The DJ did his thing and kept the crowd engaged and dancing on the floor. I didn't get to taste the food, but from what I saw, it looked pretty good. The staff was also very friendly, and might I add patient with the guests. On this particular night, drinks were falling onto the floor. One dropped, and while the staff member was cleaning it up, another person, although accidentally, dropped another drink right next to the area that was being cleaning. I could tell they were slightly annoyed that they had another spill to clean, but she handled it pretty well. There are pictures that were hung on the walls that added to the ambiance of the place, and it went with the theme that they had going. You are meant to have a good time here, and with the right music, you can expect nothing less than that. read more

I've been wanting to try Prime 39 forever, so decided to make it happen recently. However, we didn't make reservations and we were told that the wait for a table would be an hour upon arrival. We were added to the waitlist and decided to wait at the bar and have a couple drinks. Right after we sat down, one of the hostesses came over to us and stated that there is also a waitlist for the bar. She informed us that there were 2 ppl on the bar waitlist and the seats we were in were reserved for them. Absolutely absurd! I'm baffled as to how a business is run this way. It makes no sense in my opinion. A waitlist to sit at the bar?!?! Gimme a break. Just ridiculous! We decided to leave and dine at another establishment, one where we wouldn't have to wait hours to have a drink OR a bite. There are MANY other better options in the area! Pros: when I tell you the first bite into my steak made me pause, I was shocked. It had so much flavor and it was tender. Same thing with my mom's pork chops. Every entree we ordered didn't skimp on portions or flavor and I loved that! I personally liked their take on deviled eggs with sweet potato, bacon and maple syrup but the rest of my group didn't. They def get an A for presentation of food and drinks which def gives a better dining experience in general. Cons: Gotta be honest, both of my drinks weren't the tastiest, although they did have a decent amount of alcohol in them. I love smoky drinks and was excited about the Viking Creed but the smokiness is just in the presentation. The drink itself was pretty light, almost like a summer drink. Same for prime sidecar. First time at this establishment. The vibe and lighting set a relaxing and exclusive atmosphere. We checked in with the lady at the desk before being quickly seated. The restaurant, from the entryway to the restroom is gorgeous and pristine. The service -- outstanding. We loved the fact that the chef came out from the kitchen. We wanted to compliment him. Went for a date night. I had really high expectations because I heard great things. The ambiance was nice; classy but chill vibes. Lots of tables celebrating birthdays. The service was decent. Waiter was patient with us and kind. The waiter had a large birthday table as well so that made the service kind of slow but understandable. The food was okay from what I can remember (wasn't quite memorable if I'm honest). We ordered the calamari to start which came in a Thai chili sauce but it was almost too much sauce it was sort of just swimming around so we ate most but neither of us cared to finish it. We both ordered steaks which again I don't remember being terrible but I also can't say it was great. What I can say is ... if you're thinking about mac and cheese for a side... don't. This I remember being disappointed by especially since I read somewhere that this was a Black owned establishment. It had no taste. I don't think my date enjoyed his side much either but it was better than mine. Drinks came in some pretty cute instagramable glasses if that's your thing. At the end of the dining experience, we both said it was cool but we wouldn't return unless it was just to grab a drink. read more

My family and I enjoyed brunch at Prime 39 today! I had french toast with a side car and my husband had chicken and waffles with a margarita. Sassy and Kalesha were patient, fast and knew the menu! I will certainly be back very soon!!! read more
