Saw this place on Facebook highlighting their happy hour menu and popped in to give it a try! Mon-Wen 4:30-7 HH is only at the bar and they do take reservations for bar seating, so plan accordingly! The menu I saw online had food and drink specials, the menu in person did not have drinks on it. However, if you ask they will tell you! Food was delicious and the bartender was amazing! Dinner at Prime 225 was mostly hits. The wine selection was great for pairing with the meal, but the steak was just okay. The Brussels sprouts were the true star, followed closely by the delightful beignets. The lobster and crab dish was massive and as delicious as it was impressive- definitely expect leftovers. One of the best steaks I've ever had in my life--perfectly tender, buttery, and absolutely phenomenal. We ordered the porterhouse for two, shared a bottle of wine, and everything about the experience was amazing. The service was great and very friendly. We celebrated a birthday here. I had the porterhouse and she had the filet. Both were coooked to perfection and absolutely mouthwatering! Our server, unfortunately I forget her name, but made us feel like we were the only table she had. Make sure you save room for desert, because the apple crumble with ice cream is devine! read more

Best steak I've had in ages - chateaubriand cooked perfectly, wonderful Caesar salad, lobster bisque that stops traffic. These guys have got it right. Pricey? Yeah, a little, but go to the crumby mass market steakhouses and bring your dental insurance policy with you. Really disappointed in our dinner at Prime 225 last week. It used to be great and a nice treat but not any more. The portion sizes have decreased while the prices have significantly increased. We live part time in NYC and we paid more at Prime for very similar meals in Manhattan. I was also shocked upon receiving the check to see we were charged a credit card fee! Nobody is doing that anymore, especially high end restaurants. I will no longer be recommending this restaurant to friends and family. read more

Let me start out by saying this is an outstanding restaurant, with outstanding food, and outstanding service. My family has been here twice and we have enjoyed our experience. Today we were celebrating our sister's birthday booking a 4:30PM reservation at the suggestion of the person who took our reservation since there would be 8 of us. Unfortunately, we were asked to leave because we were there too long according to the manager. Highly insulted after having spent over $1K and a 25%+tip. We were not told upon making the reservation there was a time limit. We will be back due to the aforementioned qualities of the restaurant, and the service from Carol & Tamara, but this reservation definitely did not end well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is super cute, it's a little small, but that adds the charm, the bar looks sleek and modern, and the dining area is very pretty, and modern like the bar, it has a very romantic feel especially with the very cute heart folded napkins.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was perfect, our waitress was very polite and very attentive, without hovering too much which really added to the romantic feel of the restaurant. (We got Hayden) The food came out in a good amount of time, little wait and it was very worth it, I had gotten the Tuna Steak and my partner ordered the Airline Chicken. But aside from this the food was incredible! The bread & dipping oil was intensely good. Chateaubriand (for 2), meat just melted in my mouth & rich, savory, demi-glaze was drinkable. Brown mushrooms were so firm & full of flavor they could've been a vegetarian main; my husband is luke warm on fungi & he was popping them like candy. Ordered Maine lobster tail as add-on- could've been a meal on its own. Sweet potato with mini-marshmallows & candied pecans was as satisfying as dessert. Only thing that didn't light my fire was appetizer Clams Casino- been a while since I had this old skool classic, but it didn't excite me the way the other courses did. Came in earlier today with my boyfriend for our 5:30 PM reservation and were seated promptly. Complimentary bread (2/5) was so-so. Short rib empanadas (3/5) The empanadas would have been perfect by itself. I think the bleu cheese kind of messed it up for me. Wasn't well balanced with the flavors. Clams casino (5/5) Not overly cooked or chewy. Fresh & delicious. My favorite from this evening's dinner. Crab cakes (3/5) Lightly crisp on the outside. Wasn't as fresh like I had hoped. The aioli & sriracha sauce didn't do much. Risotto was meh. The asparagus was wonderful though. Have had better at other restaurants such as Chesapeake Inn (around the corner) or Moshulu (Philly). Ribeye (Boyfriend 5/5) He liked his steak medium cook so this was perfect for him. 225 loaded baked potato (4.5/5) It was loaded with lots of cheese, sour cream, and bacon. Yummy! I didn't try a cocktail but the menu options sounded fabulous and I cannot wait to go back! We started with the Caesar (as a self proclaimed casear salad connoisseur, this was in my top 3 Caesar's ever), Brussels (which are probably some of the best I have ever had. Get them! You will not regret. The hot honey is the perfect touch), bao buns, and crab dip. All were so good. I got the crab cakes for dinner and my fiancé got the pork. My wife and I went to Prime 225 to celebrate our 29th anniversary. Our appetizers, soup and salads were very good but all of this was overshadowed with overcooked rockfish and horrible service. Pre-Covid, this was our 'go to special occasion' spot. No longer. You might as well as plan on $100 (or a bit more) a head, and that's not getting much more than a glass of wine, and something on the menu. If you get appetizer's, desserts, etc.... (or god forbid a 2nd glass of wine)--you are WELL north of $100 a person. Just not worth it, and this place has been a family fav for years. We have been to Prime 225 about 6-8 times over the last few years. We've noticed it has been going down hill. This last visit on 11/24/2024 was probably the last time we will go there unless they make some major adjustments. Food: I had the Filet and my wife had the rockfish with crab. The filet was tasteless and minutely small for an 8oz serving. The rockfish was way overcooked to the point that it was hard to cut into bite sized pieces. The mushrooms were underwhelming as were the green beans and mashed potatoes. Service: The bus staff, although friendly, were inattentive and didn't "read the table". We are patient people and appreciate those who are learning. However, training the waitstaff is recommended. We are not there for nourishment. We are there for the experience and are paying handsomely for it. Ambiance: [[HIGHLIGHT]]We don't want to be too picky here but when you slide into a booth at what is supposed to be a very nice special occasion restaurant, you shouldn't have to slide over a strip of duct tape on both seat cushions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I probably wouldn't have said anything about this if all else met our expectations. To summarize, I really don't write reviews but realize that changes don't happen unless the establishment receives some helpful feedback. My wife and I went there on Tuesday evening (7/9) and as soon as I walked thru the door I noticed patrons wearing t shirts. This restaurant should have a dress code IMO. Next I noticed the restaurant was hot. Yes it's July but I found out the A/C had been compromised for several days. I wished someone said something when I made my reservation, it was very disappointing to be sweating while trying to enjoy a cocktail and a steak. My wife and I normally would have stayed for dessert and after dinner drinks, but we were soaked with perspiration as were the servers. Now the good! The service was excellent, the cocktails were spot on and both the appetizers and entrees were perfectly executed the way they've been every time I come here. This is a special restaurant, but I have to give a couple demerits for the aforementioned. read more
