We recently enjoyed a nice lunch at Deep Blue. We had gone there 4-5 years ago and weren't impressed - the menu was super small back then and had no good vegetarian options. Friends of ours had mentioned that there was a new owner or something and that they'd had a good meal there so we decided to give it another try. I'm glad we did. The menu is much more interesting and has lots more choices now. Everything we had was great, from the BBQ brisket sandwiches and fries to the deviled eggs with pimento cheese. We loved how we chose our His and Her bar drinks and our Georgia Peach and Coconut Mojito were on point. We contracted the restaurant for a family celebration. The selection of the food was amazing and they allowed for a change in the menu from the original contract since this celebration was a post wedding event. The water view was amazing even though the weather did not cooperate and the staff was extremely accomodating. Highly recommnd this venue for an event of less than 90 people; we had 50 at our celebration and there was plenty of room for a 2 man band, dancing and more. Food, family, atmosphere and great service they have it all at Deep Blue. We were welcomed when we came in. Asked if we wanted a table we asked to sit at the bar. Headed into the restaurant not knowing what to expect. Walked and found a few open seats. It was 7:00pm and they closed at 8:00pm so there were only a handful of people dining. We ordered drinks and were advised on Wednesday there is a special on pasta. I felt like we ordered everything. Jeff ordered oysters on the half shell, lobster roll and fried calamari. I ordered shrimp and crab linguini. Jeff said the bar fries were the BOMB! Dinner and drinks came to $144.00 without tip but worth it. Everything was delicious and produced promptly. Reading the menu they offer a lot of specials, happy hour, and military discounts. It was refreshing to see. I wish more restaurants were community friends like Deep Blue. Jeff and I did have a few drinks but we're lucky to have booked a room for the night at the INN attached to the restaurant so we didn't have far to go to call it a night. Was looking for a nice spot on Fourth of July to grab dinner and this place nailed it. Did not see the inside but the outdoor deck area is lovely, with views of the marina as far as the eye can see. Ordered the coconut shrimp and a crab cake sandwich. The prices are reasonable and the service is great. I received a single crab cake and cucumber salad. I have NEVER left a restaurant hungry before today. 2. Considerably less selection, no carving station, seafood limited and not much for breakfast items. My daughter & I had the Rockfish entree, and they were excellent & substantial. Our granddaughter had the deviled egg appetizer (loved them) and Soup of the Day. I suppose, because I'm a "Chopped" (Food Network) fan & saw the series Chef Jester participated in, I was excited for everyone to be happy. I suppose I was expecting more from Chef. I'm sorry to say, as for Cream of Crab soup, we will stick with Hammer's (where that cook serves traditional Eastern Shore, Cream of Crab). We chose this restaurant because their website says they are dog friendly and their Yelp listing says pets are welcome. So we drove an hour and a half bring 2 6lb Maltese pups. We were told on arrival that they changed their dog policy one month ago and refused to seat us. Deep Blue was A.MA.ZING! (local) asparagus topped with crab was excellent, nice assortment of unique desserts and Blackberry Manhattan was great night cap. As for the Inn, rooms are basic but very well kept. Assuming rooms are not original to home, bathrooms could have been designed bigger as surely anyone large would never fit in small shower. Nice side chair to sit and watch yachts coming under bridge and good assortment of coffees. Realize the home is older but without AC in rooms had to keep overhead fan on high speed and only in mid-80s outside. Not sure how anyone in 3rd floor rooms would fare. Worst is depending what room you book you may have to go up/down extra set of stairs that is very steep, although staff were super friendly and helped me get luggage up/down stairs but navigating them to get in/out was not easy. Really should have another exit without stairs on that side of house. read more

We stopped by today. It was 70 degrees, sunny and we were looking for a place to sit by the water and have a beer. We had our dog with us. When I asked the manager if the outside deck was dog friendly he told me regretfully no. He did however invite us to sit on the lawn overlooking the Sassafras River. He cleaned two chairs for us and set them on the lawn. Our server, Allie, was there in minutes to take our order. When she brought our beers she also brought some ice water for our dog. I can't remember ever being treated so well in a restaurant before. Not only will I be back but I will encourage my friends to go there as well. read more

Sunday 2 pm... party of 6... 4 burgers and two crab salads orders. Burger served first... 12 minutes later the salads arrived with NO dressing!!!! The waitress did not come back for another 18 minutes.. Everyone was done with the burgers before the Waitress was done eating the burgers. She was told of no dressing on the salad. I returned my salad without eating it. I had the fries from my husband and they were delicious. All the guys loved the burgers. And that is why I am giving it two stars! read more

This is one of those restaurants that I really want to like. They are by the water in the beautiful sassafras river and they are so nice. Always attentive, great service. Dinner: while we enjoy the atmosphere and service, the food is less than perfect, specially for the price. Our entrees were ok, lamb osso bucco was dry, like made the day before. Our sides were inconsistent, the risotto was dry and overcooked, not creamy, like yesterday's risotto reheated. The Brussels sprouts were actually really good. My wife had the truffle Mac and cheese and it was overcooked as well and looked reheated. Brunch: the brunch was great, again good service, the food was delicious, the potatoes were amazing. The only problem for me was the menu states a 3 egg omelette, and it was hardly 1 and 1/2 egg. Not a huge problem, I don't need 3 eggs, but maybe adjust the menu to reflect that. read more
