Picadera Mixta. Not as full as it looks in the picture. No longer as good as it used to be!
Sergio L.

This used to be a favorite spot of mine whenever I wanted to splurge a bit. They used to offer a plate called the "Picadera Mixta" which was a full plate of all type of meats cooked in different styles, a ton of fried cheese balls and then a seperate container filled to the brim of Plantains. Over the years the price has gone up (which is understandable) but the food quality and quality never dipped. Until today. I last ordered just over a month ago, so this is a pretty recent change, but today when I ordered they had consolidated the two plates into 1 plate of the same size. At least two types of meat (out of the original 7 or 8 that they offered) were no longer in the plate, about 2/3 of the fried cheese was gone, and the plantains was now the majority of the plate itself. A pretty horrible deal for the same price of 20$ that it used to be. I contact grubhub who contacts them and they said that's how they make it now. No change in description, no change in price, no call to inform that half the food that was there before is gone. Then when discussion went to refund/discounts since we had no idea they changed their quantity and quality they said "we don't deal with grubhub issues on the weekends; call back during the week". What type of horrible customer service is that?

One of the worst delivery experiences I've ever had. See my screenshot from my seamless review.

Mofongo de pollo

2.5 stars Ordered 2 cheese pastelitos, a side of arroz y habichuelas, small chicken soup and chicken mofongo. The pastelitos and chicken soup were good but the mofongo and side of arroz y habichuelas was not good! I'm so confused as to how this place has such good yelp reviews. My ex is Dominican and I've been to DR a few times so I know how Dominican food is supposed to taste. This food lacked flavor and my mofongo has a lot of little chicken bones in it. I'm overall disappointed that I decided to come here while in Brooklyn. P.S. Be aware that this place is very dark and there is no a/c.

Since we live nearby, my gf and I decided to order take out from this place. The restaurant itself is nestled next to a laundromat with the inside of the restaurant being pretty dark and lots of seating available. We ordered 2 empanadas, fried chicken and spicy steak as well as sweet plantains. The wait for the food was reasonable as I could see the chef in the back making everything fresh. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! Has a very home cooked feel to it. We thoroughly enjoyed our food but midway through we realized that they had forgotten to give us the sweet plantains....and we love sweet plantains so that was pretty disappointing. I want to try this place again especially to try their roast chicken.

The food is on point, the people are awesome and welcoming. Lots of flavor, hot, fresh and very tasty.

I had the pernil and it was very salty. The maduros was hard as a rock. Definitely not what I expected.

Went on a Friday with no reservations. They were super kind and fast with service. I came in hungry and order a ton - I had the tostone rellenos and ensalado del puerto. They hit! The tostone was creative, elegant and best bite of the evening. The salad had so much veggies and was very fresh the dressing it comes with is vibrant and lime-y. Great start to a meal. I had Churrasco which came with yellow rice and black beans. It was incredible, and I always get a tad scared with skirt steaks being overcooked but it was the perfect medium with grilled marks. The chimichurri was great too. I am nit-picking here but a little more salt and pepper on everything would of been great. Don't come with out having the sangria, they pack a punch!

Warm welcome. We chose to sit at the bar and both enjoyed expected facorites carne asada and a pollo con arroz renditions. The rice waa heavenly and the hot sauce should be tried with everything. There are bottles for sale. The maduros with avocado was incredible especially with ghe provided sauce and hot sauce. So fessh .. so good. That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon.

Amazing food and good portions! Love the rotisserie chicken, maduros, and salad. The combo meal can…read morebe good for 3 or 4 people. Only did takeout and never dine in but overall I always would order once or twice a month.
