Downtown opticians has horrible customer service do not do business with them! I took my kids…read morethere since one of my kids was having difficulty seeing the board at school, they were not particularly welcoming to me or my 2 kids. The optometrist was also not particularly friendly. (We had previously been to Primary Eyecare just across from Downtown Opticians and was used to friendly courteous service, but was not able to get an appointment soon enough). When it was time for my son's contact lense fitting the lady helping him was very impatient with him even though she knew it was his first he was wearing contacts. She was getting frustrated because he was not able to put the contacts in quickly enough and it was getting late in the evening so we came back the following week for him to learn how to put the contacts in. Once again, the same lady was there and offered the same horrible customer service. She actually said in a very rude dismissive tone "you came at a bad time to do this because we are very busy right now". At this time there was only one other person in the store! I was shocked and thinking doesn't she realize I am a customer and I am spending my hard earned money with your company! I was not planning to place the order for contacts with them but against my better judgement I did. I was told they would be in within 7 days. After almost 2 weeks passed I called to inquire and was told they hadn't come and they were not sure when they would arrive but would call me when they came in. A few days later I called again and spoke to Rachael still no contacts, so I politely said "please refund my money I will order it somewhere else". (I ended up ordering them from Sams Club and saved $30.00 and they were ready for pick up in 3 days) Instead of refunding my $100.00 she debited another $100.00 and didn't even bother to call me and notify me of this incompetent error! I later found out while I was checking out at Walmart and my card declined!! I was extremely upset. No manager or anyone from this company has since offered any apology. But if I can save someone from having to deal with these rude incompetent people that's justice. Maybe they are not familiar with the expression "bad news travels fast" I will also report them to the BBB.

Perhaps you may have misinterpreted their tone? It's hard to believe they were that rude. I have been going there for years. The doctor is always really nice. They usually tell me if the contacts are going to take awhile to come in. They always send me home with a trial pair.

I would be the first person to be there and the white nurse in charge of calling patients would call me last while she would call all the white people first. I complained to Dr. Boone severally but he would not listen. The last time i complained about this discrimination he told me that i would have to go to another optician if i complain again. The very day i have appointment her nurse called that they are not accepting my type of insurance again which i did not believe. Lastly, i requested for my record transfer to another optician; he has not sign my referral form to a new physician for for the past 3 weeks the form is still on his desk. Engr. Sam Ola (MSSE)

I have to say what a pleasure it's been to deal with First Look Opticians of Macon GA. I purchased…read morea set of frames there in June of 2013 and subsequently have needed to go back for minor adjusts, nose pads etc. On every occasion I am met with prompt professionalism as well as a general feeling of which I'm the taken-care-of customer. Most recently my set of frames had a minor issue and without even asking for such they were replaced on the spot (still under warranty). It's nice these days to deal with a business in such a pleasant manner - especially in these times where exceptional customer service is the exception in most places. If you're considering a new set of glasses or need service on some you already have, do yourself a favor and stay away from the chain optical locations in the shopping malls - deal with a locally owned and well run establishment such as First Look Optical in Macon.

Krystal was really nice and personable. She walked me through all the pre-screen tests and made everything easy to understand. Every time I've visited this location the entire staff is friendly and personable. The optometrist is patient and explains everything to me about my eyes and answers all of my questions. Typically the exam is quick and thorough. Once I get my prescription I take my time to shop for the perfect eye glasses. LensCrafters has some of the best selections amongst optical shops near me. They have all the high-end brands like Prada, Ray-Ban, Tiffany and many more. The staff is helpful when it comes to making my final decision. I have purchased sunglasses and eye glasses from here and have been pleased with everything. I love that they have flexible hours and that I can schedule my exams on Saturday since I live almost an hour away. This location is always organized and clean. If you are searching for a place to purchase your next pair of glasses or need an eye exam, look no further.

The rest of the staff there were very helpful and friendly as well. They helped me choose the best way to get contacts and glasses at the same time while using my insurance to the best effect. My glasses came in the day after I came in for my exam and ordered them! I couldn't believe how quickly that went especially since I have a very strong prescription. The optician adjusted my glasses better than I've ever had them adjusted to fit absolutely perfectly. I will not be going anywhere else for my eye care. They seem to know their jobs well and care about the patients and making them happy.

He wrote a prescription and told me to come back the following Monday for him to get a quick look and told me I was good to purchase my contacts. I checked out at the front and paid $75.25, I told the receptionist the doctor asked me to return Monday and that I would be back that day to order contacts. when I showed up Monday at 12:30 (lunch) I was told that doctor smith was gone for the day. I said that's fine I'd like to purchase my contacts at which point I was told I don't think that's a good idea with out seeing the doctor. I told the lady that I was suppose to see him today and was never told to come prior to a time other than what is listed on the door for operating hours. She that's ok you can come back tomorrow; I replied with I took an hour off of work and drove 30 minutes to be here and she said I u destined would you like for me to set up a time to see the doctor tomorrow. I said no please transfer my prescription and she said she wouldn't do that until my evaluation is complete (even though the doctor said I could purchase them after he saw me a week earlier). I asked if I have paid in full and she said yes, I said then why did you charge me if the eval is not complete and she said this just how we do it. I said I have to work to pay for doctors and eye insurance and that I can't come back up here again so please issue me a refund. She issued me $55.25, and never told my why I wasn't given the full amount.
