Downtown opticians has horrible customer service do not do business with them! I took my kids…read morethere since one of my kids was having difficulty seeing the board at school, they were not particularly welcoming to me or my 2 kids. The optometrist was also not particularly friendly. (We had previously been to Primary Eyecare just across from Downtown Opticians and was used to friendly courteous service, but was not able to get an appointment soon enough). When it was time for my son's contact lense fitting the lady helping him was very impatient with him even though she knew it was his first he was wearing contacts. She was getting frustrated because he was not able to put the contacts in quickly enough and it was getting late in the evening so we came back the following week for him to learn how to put the contacts in. Once again, the same lady was there and offered the same horrible customer service. She actually said in a very rude dismissive tone "you came at a bad time to do this because we are very busy right now". At this time there was only one other person in the store! I was shocked and thinking doesn't she realize I am a customer and I am spending my hard earned money with your company! I was not planning to place the order for contacts with them but against my better judgement I did. I was told they would be in within 7 days. After almost 2 weeks passed I called to inquire and was told they hadn't come and they were not sure when they would arrive but would call me when they came in. A few days later I called again and spoke to Rachael still no contacts, so I politely said "please refund my money I will order it somewhere else". (I ended up ordering them from Sams Club and saved $30.00 and they were ready for pick up in 3 days) Instead of refunding my $100.00 she debited another $100.00 and didn't even bother to call me and notify me of this incompetent error! I later found out while I was checking out at Walmart and my card declined!! I was extremely upset. No manager or anyone from this company has since offered any apology. But if I can save someone from having to deal with these rude incompetent people that's justice. Maybe they are not familiar with the expression "bad news travels fast" I will also report them to the BBB.

I was pretty angry at being called a liar, and felt like she was shaming me. I even looked at my call log and it showed that I had called and I offered to show it to them and come into the office. The lady I was talking to assured me their office manager would call me in a couple days when she was in. Instead, they said that they had management approval to have me scheduled with another doctor, but I was not allowed to see the original doctor because it was counted as a no-show. Continual shaming. Making me feel like I was untrustworthy and my integrity wasn't worth anything. To make matters worse, the office manager never called me. I promptly canceled my other appointment with the second doctor because I wasn't "good enough" and "worthy" to see the original one. Being shamed and being treated like you are a liar is not a type of relationship I want with an establishment.

The dentist came in and looked like a kid that just got out of gym class. Had all these expensive…read moretreatments like crown, crown, crown that he recommended. Another dentist had recommended simply replacing the fillings on those teeth. However, that other dentist also recommended putting two crowns on the front tooth. This little kid dentist missed that completely. When I brought this to his attention, he recommended leaving those teeth alone completely. So, we have two different dentists in two different practices with two different opinions of what needs to be done. The common thread is they both chose expensive procedures but for different teeth. They have this really fancy machine that has a wand on it. It goes in your mouth and creates a 3D image of your teeth. From this 3D image, the little kid dentist made his recommendations. He mentioned one tooth was cracked. Was it cracked or was that a surface stain? A surface image won't show that. If only there was some invention that could show the condition of a tooth on the inside to show cracks, decays. If only someone would invent something that could show the actual condition of the teeth. Oh, yeah, like X-Rays which they took but never referenced. Red flag. They had this round faced girl come in and put pointy things in my mouth and said you need a deep cleaning. I looked at her point blank and said we're not doing that! The look on her face just melted like a snowflake. I told her the old name for this procedure which is called splitting the gums? Guess why it was called that and guess why they changed the name? The financial officer came in with a five page amounting to thousands of what they were going to do. Of that, the insurance would only cover 40%. Very fishy that two dentists say two different thing.

In advance we took an antibiotic required for teeth cleaning due to medical conditions. When we got there, the office-quoted cost for self-pay doubled to over $400.00 because of added x-rays. That was declined by the patient. For the Medicare Advantage patient, a bone density probe was done and multiple x-rays; then they presented us with an estimated cost of deep cleaning for around $140.00. No cleaning was given. Antibiotics taken for nothing! We never had this kind of experience under the previous owner of North Macon Dental. Very disappointed - feels like a bait and switch kind of experience.

This was great until that one dentist…read more Everyone says the same thing. The team is great but it's that one dentist. He wanders around like he's in a band playing at night and this is his day job. True, he walks around with those silly little magnifying eyeglasses like he's the terminator. Then, I saw a group picture of the whole staff and saw those eye bags with eye bags. Keep those things on! He's very friendly--with the staff. He ignores the patient. Ever been in a room with three people and you're treated like you're invisible? That's how he is. I had one problem that I brought to the attention of the staff. Oh, that's gum recession. No, you crazy woman, it's enamel erosion at the gum line. Could not believe she said that. Where did she get her degree? The University of Jeffersonville? Mister terminator eyes looked at it and he put a composite filling on it. At some point, it fell out. They should have replaced it as they warranty their work (or they did) but they don't tell people so it's not really a problem for them if the patient doesn't know this. He put another filling on a front tooth. He wrapped the composite around the bottom of the tooth to the back. Who does this? That lasted three days and just cracked off. That would have been fine if he were plastering a wall. He would do dental work on me and there was a pit forming on the next tooth. He never mentioned that probably because he never noticed it. Guess those glasses gave him tunnel vision. Billing was the worst. Did some procedure and my out of pocket was not that much. I gave the assistant my debit card to run. PAID IN FULL. I get a call a few months later reminding me of the follow up cleaning but told they couldn't see me until I pay the balance I owe. Like, what balance? I call the insurance, and they now say I owe them a balance. She looked it up. No you don't owe them anything. The insurance lady called to talk with this other woman. Not sure what she said but It was taken care of. Insurance is confusing and there's like a million plans out there. But, this was her ONLY job.

If I could give this place a -0 star I would me and my mom has been patients at this place since…read more2015 honestly don't know how we stayed so long because the atmosphere is very cold and not welcoming it became worse recently. My mom has been having the same ongoing issue with the same crown coming off her crown popped off on July 6, 2023 she wasn't eating anything she was simply TALKING the rude desk staff called on July 10, 2023 for her to come in at 4pm I was hesitant on taking her back to this place because this is unacceptable he forced putting the same crown that clearly doesn't fit as a temporary the same day her face was swollen He didn't numb her when drilling her tooth. He also nicked her tongue with the drill it is now Sunday morning July 16, 2023 and her tongue is still in pain. We are never returning back and I honestly hope he doesn't see another patient again that explains all of the cancellations and open appointments he has. Oh and at my last cleaning he didn't even have the decency to come look at my teeth afterwards. Please please please go elsewhere to a dentist that cares about their patients. UPDATE: 7/20/2023 my mother received a rude voicemail from the unprofessional desk staff stating that it is normal for the dentist to not numb patients before drilling which is insane she is still in pain to this day she was not caring at all about the situation and stated that she will remove us from the schedule which is fine because I never enjoyed having someone in my mouth that is not groomed and looks like he just rolled out of bed. My suggestion would be that you put the time and effort that you spend getting new fancy equipment and at least look presentable at work. Also, I think it's pathetic that you left yourself a review to outweigh your bad review which makes me question the other 400 5 star reviews is it you Steven your staff or bots leaving reviews for you? To cover up your BOTCHED work. So sad I pray my mom gets into the right care soon and I will research future methods on how to address this situation. AGAIN do not go to this "dentist" Oh and I have a friend that let him do a crown for him that cracked a while ago just from him eating a French fry he tried to get this corrected and careless Steven stated that he need to pay him $500 for him to correct everything he still has not got his crown replaced CLOSE DOWN!!!!!!
