After waiting for an hour and a half after my scheduled time to be seen Doctor Smith saw me and examined me. He wrote a prescription and told me to come back the following Monday for him to get a quick look and told me I was good to purchase my contacts. I checked out at the front and paid $75.25, I told the receptionist the doctor asked me to return Monday and that I would be back that day to order contacts. when I showed up Monday at 12:30 (lunch) I was told that doctor smith was gone for the day. I said that's fine I'd like to purchase my contacts at which point I was told I don't think that's a good idea with out seeing the doctor. I told the lady that I was suppose to see him today and was never told to come prior to a time other than what is listed on the door for operating hours. She that's ok you can come back tomorrow; I replied with I took an hour off of work and drove 30 minutes to be here and she said I u destined would you like for me to set up a time to see the doctor tomorrow. I said no please transfer my prescription and she said she wouldn't do that until my evaluation is complete (even though the doctor said I could purchase them after he saw me a week earlier). I asked if I have paid in full and she said yes, I said then why did you charge me if the eval is not complete and she said this just how we do it. I said I have to work to pay for doctors and eye insurance and that I can't come back up here again so please issue me a refund. She issued me $55.25, and never told my why I wasn't given the full amount. read more

Love Dr Smith. He was my optometrist at Vision Savers in both Macon and Dublin. I'm not a big fan of the virtual docs although they are good too but I need for someone to physically look into the old peepers. The staff were very friendly. Price wise they are more expensive than Vision Works, America's Best, etc but they have some nice frames to choose from. I am not a difficult person so I narrowed it down to 2 with the help of the associate and got 1 because I am very disciplined. Get what I come for and nothing more. read more

I've been here twice for glasses and contacts and both times have been great. The optometrist was very friendly and efficient. The rest of the staff there were very helpful and friendly as well. They helped me choose the best way to get contacts and glasses at the same time while using my insurance to the best effect. My glasses came in the day after I came in for my exam and ordered them! I couldn't believe how quickly that went especially since I have a very strong prescription. The optician adjusted my glasses better than I've ever had them adjusted to fit absolutely perfectly. I will not be going anywhere else for my eye care. They seem to know their jobs well and care about the patients and making them happy. read more

Excellent, highly recommended. I hate dealing with eye exams, especially in private practices, because they tend to charge arbitrarily high fees. None of that nonsense here. As an uninsured individual, I don't pay anymore here than I would at Walmart without insurance. This is a pretty big deal to me, as Walmart has been the most cost-effective solution I've found in my years of needing glasses/contacts. At the same time, Brown's isn't Walmart, and thank God for that. Quite the opposite, the place is clean, and the people who work there seem to actually like their jobs. My experience with Walmart-based optometrists themselves has never really been bad, but the optometrists here are highly professional and personable, so it's not like I'm missing anything. The reason I first came here was because they were able to schedule me next-day for a contact exam, and at a lower price than I'd been quoted by others in the area, who were not able to schedule me right away. I wasn't sure what to expect, since generally cheaper/more convenient often translates to poorer quality in my mind. However, I was thoroughly impressed by the service and the speed of the exam. My eyesight is also particularly abysmal, so they struggled for a bit to find a sample that would work for me, since they didn't have the specific strength I needed. I was also pretty impressed while they scoured their supplies for several minutes, trying to find what would best fit me, rather than just handing me the first thing they found. It's like they actually care. I would wholly recommend this place to anyone in the Macon area. I should also note that Brown's Eye Center has multiple locations in the region. While I can't speak for the rest of the locations, the one on Forsyth in Macon is top notch, and I expect that this will be where I go for as long as I'm living here. Literally, the only (slight) drawback I can think of is that the Forsyth location can be a little tricky to get to the first time, as it shares a driveway with a gas station. Once you know where it is, though, everything else is pretty much cake. read more

Fabulous! Best and most affordable eye exam. Best customer service experience at an optometrist as well. Since I was leaving town the next day, they fitted my glasses immediately - so fast I wasn't even able to finish this review before I was called to try on my new glasses. Brown's Eye Center is a great place to go for eye care. I went there just for frames and found reasonable prices that were even better than what Walmart had offered me. Amazingly, if I had gone through with my eye exam at Brown's I would have saved an additional $20-30 dollars over Walmart. The employees were also very friendly and helped me to find my new pair of glasses that I'm extremely happy about. They also were ready for pick up within a week of purchase. Also, I will be purchasing contacts from them at an extremely cheap price. Instead of going to a place with terrible customer service and prices like Walmart, go to Browns they have quality and great employees. I will be recommending them to others. read more

If ZERO stars were an option - I would choose it!!! Visit#1 for exam - staff was courteous. Visit#2 to pick up glasses. My son said he couldnt see so I inspected glasses to notice lens was placed in wrong eye. I called the office only to be told I was wrong and he was saying it bc he had never worn glasses before. BUT I made an appt anyway to see Dr again. Visit#3 - Dr agreed he transposed Rx. Visit#4 - pick up glasses AGAIN. Got home to realize they did not return the case with the glasses. Visit#5 - went to retrieve case only to be told they didnt have it. They told me I never gave it to them. I described the case and they claimed they never give those kind to non-insurance patients. (Then how would I know what it looked like???) This visit the staff was rude and did everything but outright call me a liar. I will NEVER visit them again and I will tell EVERYONE I can not to as well. Not to mention they doubled my co-pay!!! You think that was an accident? If I hadnt caught it - would they have notified me? read more
