I tried to hit up just about every hill throughout the day but missed a few Because the place is so massive. This is one of my favorite ski Mountains because of the tree skiing options and how many Black Diamonds are groomed (it's so fun bombing down the hill just on the edge of being out of control). I did wipe out on the second to last run losing a ski in the process and sliding down the mountain, but was able to recover the ski after a short hike up for about 40 yards). If I had to pick a ski place where I came closest to dying it would probably be here when I came flying around a sharp groomed corner onto a moguled hill, but was able to gain some control before I became one with some pine trees. About a month before I came here I read that a woman got nipped by a coyote when she was tree skiing and they had a sign warning about a coyote there at the top of one of the runs, so that was kind of funny. I stopped in for some chili at one of the small hole in the wall places they have at the base of the Eastern side of the mountain and that was a really cool place with good food.

There are two lodges we always go to lodge two. Lodge two is where the lift tickets can be purchased and skis and snowboards can be rented. The people who work here are great. They try to help you to get your tickets and rental quickly so you can enjoy your time on the slopes. During long holidays, it could get crowded very fast. The parking can get full. They have free shuttle ring to bring people to the lodge area. The chairs are well operated; easy to get in and get off. The classes for young kids are a great value. If you are local they have great ski packages and season pass. The teachers are great; all our three kids learned how to ski and snowboard here under the caring instruction of teachers. Richard is one of their favorite teacher. He takes his time, gentle, knowledgeable and build kids confidence while teaching them the skills. The lodge has two sections; one section is where you can order beer and the other section has knly non alcoholic drinks. They have variety of fast food selection; you can also bring your own food and eat on the tables. The lodge can use some face lift and upgrade. The rental area is downstairs and they have good quality ski rentals. The process could be simpler and more automated by using technology The slopes are well maintained in different difficulty levels. The chairs run slower compared to other resorts but they are efficient. The snow is powdered and trimmed well.

Then there's Jason our tail feather, again, stoked to be a part of such a wonderful outfit and it shows. There's a nice air of confidence in a very relaxed atmosphere which is what you want on a powder day. The falline beta was well organized and we ran fresh tracks all day. The thing is, there was still several days left for them to cancel and refill the slot on the snowmobile trip during a holiday week. I wasn't asking for a refund, I was asking for a credit to be utilized within one year. Be warned that they stick with some inane 45 day cancellation policy in an area that is prone to bad weather. If you live out of state, they are not worth booking an excursion with. I absolutely do not recommend this company.

It was funny that locals said the snow conditions weren't great but there was still 20 feet of snow at the base & 40 feet at the summit. That sounded great to me, coming from a state with only a couple inches of snow on the ground! There were 2 chair lifts closed still due to the "low snow" but there were plenty of ski trails open to use. With only $35 for a half-day lift ticket, it was well worth it! I was only on greens/blues and the snow wasn't deep but it was still fluffy (not icy) and groomed well. We were above the clouds and the snow-covered humongous pine trees was breathtaking. Overall Tips: - Half-day lift ticket hours starts at 12:30pm until close (4pm) and only $35! Save an additional $1 if you are a student. - The bunny hill is at chair lift 3. - Take the chair lift 3 up the bunny hill to get to chair lift 4 and the other trails on the backside of the mountain which are worth going to. - The chalet is by no means a fancy mountain resort so you may want to get food elsewhere if you are picky. The food is your typical overpriced greasy fare. The fries, soup & hot cocoa were still good to have as an option though when I needed a quick energy boost. Overall a great option since it's pretty close to Spokane and has some decently long trails. The views above the clouds made my trip! I'd come back again, especially for that price!

The skiing on Schweitzer Mountain is deservedly renowned, and the Chateau is right there on the side of the slopes. In the warmer months the hiking is absolutely beautiful, as is the biking. The air is fresh, one is surrounded by pristine nature. And the township of Sandpoint has some lovely restaurants, as well as enjoyable places to shop and browse. Given that the owner is a serious collector of medieval antiques, the Chateau is furnished with some extraordinary historical pieces. Plus the owner will give you a tour of the dungeons in the castle right next door. A place to refresh body and soul completely. Thoroughly recommended.

(Better than any I have ever stayed in any hotel) The living area is very nice with leather furniture, big screen tv; all the amenities. The breakfast is rolls or turnovers, cereal, fruit, access to coffee maker. The owner was very very helpful. The property is NOT elderly friendly with multiple stairs to room, living areas, etc. We rented a room in the lodge with a bed and pull out hide a bed couch. There are NO rooms with 2 beds. We also rented the cottage which was great for the little kitchen but had some draw backs: Very limited room to walk around the bed in the tiny but cute bedroom. (We had to sidestep to get to bed.) The bed box spring did not fit into the bed frame correctly and we finally gave up sleeping on the left side of bed due to this. The toilet was kind of loose. There were missing screens on windows. WIFI was iffy, but fine in main lodge. There is a path and steps to get up to the cottage (kind of a converted remodeled mobile home) But this place served our purpose well and the owner, Rose, was incredibly helpful as we were there for a family emergency. I wish I had known about this place sooner.

She will take care of you and make sure you have everything you need for your night. The bed was extremely comfortable with a feather top mattress. Bathrooms were clean and room was clean as well. Had a fridge in the room and your own coffee (you know, the normal stuff). Breakfast was a nice set of fruit, cereals, yogurts and breads. Excellent place to stay if you are in the area.
