But it's super clean, reasonably priced, the beds are good, the staff is helpful. Last time we booked I changed my reservation three times but still the cheerful and helpful attitude was in abundance. There's even a little picnic table under a tree. Rooms have hard floors, simple furnishings and plenty of towels. Decent refrigerator, good tv, nice beds. Again, not fancy, but better than some places costing three times as much and not as nice! One upgrade would be a proper ice maker on site. Staff onsite in the adjacent house have always been helpful and super chill. No, there's no pool or hot tub or workout room. But I worked from the breakfast room (and I wasn't the only one) and was quite comfortable with the overstuffed sofa and tables and chairs. Internet was decent. You are out in the boonies so keep your amenity expectations low and cruise the local good to excellent restaurants and actually quite cool shops (don't miss Black Sheep Vintage) but stay here! You won't regret it.

I slept upstairs, the fridge is a bit loud so bring earplugs. The bed is right next to the fridge. The portable air conditioning only available upstairs was also loud but better than not having air conditioning at all. I also with she had some Kleenex available. She didn't serve breakfast due to covid19. Her place is beautiful and the river is calm/shallow so perfect for kayaking. She let us use her paddle boards. Penny is very friendly. My grandfather lost almost everything including his life due to his Deer Lake home of more than 50 yrs catching fire just days before Christmas- his entire home burnt, which he built back in 1974, to the ground, GONE and this place treated him and my family as if he was a bedbug carrying, house hoping, transient, squatter... We had a reservation set up days in advance to prepare for check out of the Deer Lake Resort Condo January 27. "Management" would not allow him bring any belongings into the motel- which only consisted of 7 neatly packed totes carrying all the food and/or clothing donations brought to us just the fire while temporarily housed at Deer Lake Resort. While that seemed to be a bit unreasonable considering the circumstances but working very closly in the homeless community I get it.... now the approach I will never understand... out of pure desperation my aunt agreed and began placing the totes out of the snow storm but near room where she could reorganize by getting grandpas (some life saving) necessities (soaps; medications; catheter supplies; BP cuff etc.) in one tote, food in another then my uncle Bobby was coming for the others to store until we find him perm housing - Again, management refused to let my aunt access the room that she already paid for or even somewhere, anywhere dry to prioritize grandpas' belongings. At that point we were no longer welcome for not following the rules, we would be getting a refund, and they voiced concerns that we may vandalized the room- YEAH NO!!!.... My aunt leaves in tears and It took DAYS and a return visit before we ever got the money back. And for the record grandpa will not be left alone until we find him permanent housing if even then. My family and I work hard for everything we have; we pay our taxes and natives to this area- BORN AND RAISED!!- to be treated this way after all the blessings we've received from Stevens County and surrounding areas- UNREAL!!! How do they even stay in business? This isn't just a "woke up on the wrong side of the bed kinda of day" but clearly a behavior pattern when reading some other reviews out there. Don't they know that a thriving successful business is only as strong as their weakest link- CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS- FACT! Word-of-mouth and social media are key tools in marketing to promote your business and it spreads like wildfire- better believe I'm gonna use it today!! You will not last much longer with this behavior in today's world or our community!! The house and grounds are magnificent, the service warm but discrete. Items that in name brand properties you get charged for are gratis here, without asking. Bottled water and ice in the fridge, Keurig machine and selection in the room, wonderful home-made short cookies on a plate, chips and breakfast bars in a basket in the room, and the best part, their own breakfast blend of coffee already for you to brew loaded up in the coffee machine. It is so nice to wake up to a flavorful strong cup of coffee in the morning, this makes the stay worth it right there. The beds are big, comfortable with high end linen. The bathrooms are big, huge, with terrycloth robes and Egyptian towels. Wifi is great with very good speed (35Mb/s avg.). I've stayed in three different rooms and all had their own warm personality and classic touches. I really like the Mountain penthouse room with the small private deck. They know I'm a smoker and always have an ashtray out there waiting. When I come in the door I'm welcomed by name. So nice after a long drive or flight. When I walk in I know that I don't have to worry about anything, it's already taken care of.

Coffee pot but no filters, however, the store had everything we needed. The off-season price was perfect but not sure I'd stay during higher summer rates, considering you have to bring your own bedding and make beds etc... Overall, lovely stay!
