The hotel is ok...but missing several things I expect from a property billing itself as four stars: -some of the staff was kind, but more than one were short or rude. -hotel does not provide shampoo or conditioner. Unbelievable for a four star property. If you want it, you must go and buy it during regular business hours at the rec center. -New towels are provided only on Tuesdays at the towel exchange. Not very helpful when your stay is Thursday through Sunday. -You are fined if you do not wash the dishes and empty the dishwasher and take out the trash in your own room. this is buried in the checkout instructions (when was the last time you opened a room folio to even read the check out instructions at a hotel). Pretty draconian since it's very non-standard for other properties. See my pictures. This and many other rules are excessive and controlling. The rates we paid were really reasonable, but not certain if these are available to everyone or not. Our family is 4 mini families and we were each able to get our own rooms of various sizes, all with kitchens. This allowed us plenty of privacy and time to decompress while still letting us utilize the amenities together. The rooms were nice and clean, no complaints there, all had balconies. We had a couple barbecues at the community picnic areas, made good use of the recreation center, toyed around with the driving/putting range and dined a couple times at the golf course restaurant. My Dad played the golf course but it seems that the other clientele do not enjoy having people on the course who are not skilled at the game. The rec center has a variety of things to do from net sports, to racquetball, to basketball, pool, hot tub, steam room, etc. We enjoyed the saltwater pool and hot tub, although it is very bizarre to me that you have to walk down a hall dripping wet and freezing to access the hot tub/steam room. The hot tub is big so at least you are unlikely to walk over there and find it too full to get in. We were able to do water aerobics one day, but these really should be offered more frequently. There is a mini golf course on site which does cost an additional fee, there are also bikes available to rent. A trail circles the resort, some of it paved, some of it dirt. I hear you can fish here, but none of us did that. Seems you can not swim in the lake. This is a bit of a drive from most things so if you want to go to restaurants and places like Silverwood, Courdelane, Sandpoint, etc be prepared to spend a lot of time in the car. I would have preferred to stay somewhere that was closer to things to do. There is not much to do here once it gets dark. Some of the staff were not the friendliest.

Always wanted to check this dog park out..... was a waste of time…read more What it has going for it: - plenty of parking - human bathrooms near parking lot - poop bags provided - dogs can swim off deck if water is high enough What it has going against it: - no seating - no fencing - no water source for your pooch - very small Ok, first off, them saying this is a dog park is totally wrong. It's a less than 1/4 mile trail through a swamp. It's is very disappointing. You walk less than 5 minutes and you have to turn around. Not worth the time to drive here even if you live in Dover. It seems not one dime was spent on this "dog park/trail". There are signs all over Dover Bay telling their residents to keep their dogs on leash... and this was probably their quick solution for their residents to have their dogs off leash. Walked through the normal park and even with all these keep your dogs on leash signs around, there was 3 sets of dogs off leash in the 15 minutes I was at their park.... so obviously it ain't working. Take a page from Ponderay and build something like their dog park and maybe your residents would be a little more respectful of your local leash laws.... just saying.

It hits every mark that makes a dog park...great. If you check out my the reviews I have done been to over 175 dog parks through out the years, so I have seen the worst and some really great ones. This dog park is easily in my top 10 of all the dog parks I have been to. Kudos to Ponderay for doing it right (better late than never), now it is up to its citizens that use it, to keep it great.

After moving to Sandpoint in 2013 from a state on the coast south of here, which will remain…read morenameless...ok, ok...Kommiefornia, Wrenco Arms was the first gun store I visited. Now keep in mind this was the OLD ownership, and as I walked through the front door the room went from loud, jovial talking, to dead silence. All eyes were on me as I moved about the store, checking it out. No one said a word to me; no greeting, no one asked if they could help me find something. NOTHING! The atmosphere seemed almost hostile, like I didn't belong in the store so I quickly left and never went back. Several months later I was looking through a real estate magazine and saw Wrenco was for sale and for a split second I thought about buying the business. Again, for a split second. Then, several more months later, I saw Wrenco was under new ownership. This could be a good thing, I thought, so I went in to the store to look around again. When I entered the store this young guy approached me, extended his hand and told me his name is Brandon, the new owner. He actually thanked me for coming in to the store, and asked if I need help finding anything. WOW! What a difference from my first experience! I recently purchased a new rifle I had been wanting for a very long time, a Remington 700 Sendero SF ll in 7mm Rem. Mag. and Grant handled the sales transaction and background check which, with my CCW, took maybe 10 minutes. The entire staff at Wrenco Arms are very knowledgeable and friendly. I especially like the fact that they remember my name. It may not seen like much to some people, but to me it means they appreciate my business. Does Wrenco Arms have the cheapest prices on everything they sell? Probably not. However, their prices are more than fair, and, there is much to be said for the exceptional level of customer service they offer. And personally, I find it very difficult to place a price on someone else's knowledge, experience, and expertise. To Brandon, Grant, and the rest of the team at Wrenco (sorry I don't remember your names; I have a closed head T.B.I. or traumatic brain injury and moderate/severe memory loss) congratulations on your success, and I wish you even more in the future!

I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but after years of consistent experiences with this shop, I…read morefeel it's warranted and maybe it will save someone else from this nonsense. The biggest issues have been consistently poor customer service, an unwelcoming atmosphere and prices that are often higher than nearby competitors. One major concern that has always bothered me is hearing employees gossip and make petty disparaging comments regarding local customers and other businesses. It's unprofessional and doesn't inspire confidence, trust or reflect good character. I've heard similar stories from others over the years. You can find anything online for less these days and half the appeal of a local gun shop is building relationships and enjoying the experience but I've never found that here. This has been consistent with the old and new ownership- I've been treated with more courtesy at Walmart. The best way I can describe this shop's vibe is this: it's basically a high school locker room- except it's full of all the people that nobody likes and who probably don't like you. Even firearm and NFA transfers (which should be straightforward) have been unpleasant enough here that I have absolutely no reason to walk in there. Over time, most of the people we know have quit doing business there for one reason or another, myself now included. There are plenty of decent firearms retailers in North Idaho staffed by people who treat you like they appreciate your business and your time.
