Unreliable and unprofessional. We just bought a house in East Nashville. Christopher Price came out and looked at our five trees - one of which is laying on an electrical wire, so time is of the essence. We made a plan to eliminate the danger, plus do a full day of trimming and nutrient injections. He seemed to really care about our trees and we were excited to work with him, even though the scope and the quote were beyond what we had initially planned on spending. What followed was three weeks of unfulfilled promises, excuses, and constant prodding on our part to get communication. We're relatively easygoing, but he committed to doing work for us, and then wouldn't send us a contract or set a date so it was super frustrating. As another reviewer said - if you don't have time for us or don't want to work with us, just let us know that so we don't waste our time. Three weeks later, I now have to start the hunt for a vendor all over again. It shouldn't be this hard to find someone who respects a client's time, especially when that client intends to pay you almost $2,000. read more

I have to say, I'm shocked. I tried to use Chris last year for a minor tree issue I was having. After weeks of back and forth, he never came out, and I used someone else. I didn't think much of it. Unfortunately, I have another large tree issue, and this one is more imminent. I was excited to try and finally use Chris this time. We communicated enough for him to express concern over the situation. He told me he would come out that week, which didn't happen. When I followed up the following week, he told me he would come out that day, which didn't happen. The most frustrating part is that I have to keep remembering to ping him, or he likely won't come out at all (as was the case last year). I understand being busy -- and what a blessing that is! But, in my opinion, it would be a much better business practice to be honest about that and schedule me a few weeks out when time allows. Or to be honest about it so that I can call another company (perhaps an opportunity to create a referral relationship for busy seasons). Instead, I have had to continuously remember to check in just in case I was forgotten about again. I've yet to actually meet Chris in person despite multiple promises to come by. Reasonable pricing and exceptional work. If I didn't know they were coming by to trim back some trees I probably wouldn't have even noticed work had been done. The work area was completely cleaned up, no sticks, saw dust or marks on the grass underneath at all. They also hauled away the limbs they cut. They cut back some limbs that we're very high and tangled near power lines coming to my house, not an easy job. They also cut back some of the limbs crossing my property line from my neighbors overgrown trees. I would recommend them and will be using them again. read more

Chris and his crew were great. They took out a triple tree with ropes and pulleys to keep it away from our guest house and deck. They took great care with the surrounding landscaping- even covering a sad wilted lemon balm with a wheelbarrow to keep it safe. They cut & stacked some logs for use in our fire pit and cleaned up all of the leaf litter. Professional, kind, very knowledgeable and gave us some tips on how to help out a few other trees on the property on our own. Would hire them again. read more

In addition to being very professional, seeming to have much more knowledge about what they were doing, and leaving the area around the tree cleaner than before they started work on it, they also charged less than the lowest estimate of the other six tree services from Yelp who gave us estimates. 2 years ago I had Chris come and look at a tree that I really didnt want to get rid of. He thought maybe some fertilizer and a trim we could save it. He explained how much of a tree lover he was, that if we did need to cut it down he would deduct the treatment cost from the removal cost. Well, since then a couple of new seasons have past. The tree doesn't seem to be recovering. The blooming and branches are accelerating in rotting. I've reached out to Chris a couple of times. He assured me that he'd arrange to come back but failed to do so. He did come out initially and did do most of what he said he would do and I feel my rating reflects that. I liked the fact he was a local business and I wanted to support that. However, I moved on and decided to find another business. read more

Tree care service is like a dentist; you need a good one, but you are never ecstatic about having to have them in the first place. I can't imagine anyone getting me more excited about tree care than East Nashville's resident arborist, Chris Price and Price Tree Care. He was a delight to deal with from start to finish and was able to come out to look at my yard within a couple days. As if by magic, he was able to come out and remove several large limbs on two trees and perform some minor shaping and trimming on some other trees the very next day. That was a big deal for me, because during this last crazy spell of rain, I heard branches brushing up against the roof both in the front and back of the house. I could just hear my dad's voice in my head and seeing his head shake back and forth in shame for not raising a son who knows to get big limbs away from my freaking house. As a constant worrier, also, I didn't like what came to mind when I thought of a branch poking through the roof or blowing into my bedroom. His timely responses made me feel like this issue was going to be taken care of; soon, I figured, there'd be one fewer thing to worry about in paradise! I didn't spend a lot of time talking with and getting to know Chris, unfortunately, but his love of trees nonetheless was infectious. I was able to leave the job and go to to work all day knowing that Price Tree Care knew what they were doing -- even with the gigantic limbs they were sawing off dozens of feet above my little house's roof! When I returned from work, you could hardly tell Chris and his crew had been there, other than being greeted by neatly trimmed and shaped trees, some sporadic sawdust, and some shifted gravel. I didn't see any damage at all to the yard or anything. I love trees, and I'd love to cherish my own even more. Before this review becomes a parody of East Nashville itself, suffice it to say I appreciate that Chris is a real arborist -- not just "the lawn guy" from down the street or the catch-all dude who will tell you he does tree trimming just the same as yard mowing, electrical work, concrete, and plumbing. Chris does trees. If you want someone to work on your trees with an obvious appreciation of the plants as living, breathing things (they are, after all!), Chris is the person you want for the job. Now, working with trees is expensive, apparently. I feel that Price Tree Care was very fair, though. I just love supporting other members of our community who share their passions and talents. It's definitely part of what makes the community special. Chris is the real deal. You can tell he loves what he does and has a good time solving challenges and sharing his craft. All in all, Chris did a fantastic job removing some large limbs encroaching on my house and did a nice job trimming my other trees. Even the trees on your property can be artfully cared for. I had several large trees that required work and I ended up using Price Tree Care for this work. I worked directly with Chris as he advised what needed to be done. He was honest and helped me reduce the cost by advising that I did NOT need to cut down any trees, rather trim as needed. This was great! Chris's business is obviously busy but he was responsive and communicated well. We had a delayed start due to weather but Chris let me know when his crew would actually be able to start. The work completed on my trees was profession and clean. His crew was obviously experienced and worked safely. There was one discrepancy after the work was completed but Chris was able to remedy this immediately. Just had these folks chop down, remove and grind stumps for 3 trees. They were great and the whole thing was so easy, absolutely no hassle for me (they, on the other hand, ended up working in cold rain). Chris Price is a tree whisperer! He can talk to you for days about the complexity of trees and how they work. The man knows his business, no doubt about it! We have a treeline of about 20 trees on our property in East Nashville which haven't been taken care of for decades. We needed them cleaned up but wanted to keep as many as possible since so many trees in the city are being removed for development. We had another tree company tell us we needed to remove at least 6-7 trees in order for the rest to be healthy, which we were bummed about. Chris saved all our trees and still made them look beautiful and gave them room to grow. His quote was reasonable and the job was finished within a day and half. The whole process from initial contact to payment took under two weeks. The best part - his team literally cleaned up every fallen stick, leave, and walnut before leaving our property. They raked our yard and driveway (and our neighbor's driveway!) to make sure nothing was left behind. Highly recommend. read more

Over the course of a year, I've had 3 three trees fall on my property. With Price's higher than average reviews I tried to have them come out all three times. Each time I've been told someone would come out first thing to provide an estimate, only to have no one show, and neither Chris/Katie would respond to further phone calls or text messages. Wanted to love them... Contacted them via email and only received a confirmation of said email. After a week I reached out again saying I was available anytime for an estimate. I received a response saying they will be by early in the week. Two weeks later no response. This review is based solely on the lack of communication and not any actual service. I initially called this company on 8/4 to receive a quote on tree removal of three trees as wells as having the stumps ground after reading all of the positive reviews on yelp. I call the phone number listed on the yelp page and I get a message stating that the voicemail had not been set up so I could not leave a message. I then contact him through Yelp on the "request a quote" button as it states that most responses are received within the hour. That message was also sent on 8/4 since I was not able to reach him by phone. It is now 8/15 and I have received zero response. In fact, two of the three companies I initially contacted never bothered to respond to call or email. The one company that did call me back cut the trees down as of last Friday. I understand that companies are too busy or have too much work. Guess what? People understand that. Reply and say as much instead of wasting potential customer's time. It will get you future repeat business instead of irritated people leaving honest reviews. read more

Several months ago I contacted Price Tree Service because the ratings for the business were good. However, my experience has not been like the others. He came out and looked at the 2 trees that i needed work on and gave me an estimate. He said he wanted to wait till late September or early October. He followed up with an email giving the estimate and a place for me to give an ok for the job. I did. In early October i followed up with an email about when the job might be done. It is now November and I have not seen or heard back. Looking for someone else now. read more
