I bought a "REFURBISHED" (I use that term loosely) HP ProDesk 600 G4 from Discount Computer Depot in August 2026 and ended up doing their quality control for them. The BIOS was still on a 2019 version with a known Secure Boot bug, and 17 critical updates (chipset, storage, network, graphics, keyboard/mouse) had never been installed -- work that's supposed to happen before a "refurbished" PC ships. I also found TPM error logs dated three days before I even received the computer, meaning the problem existed before it left their hands. Less than a month later, the RAM failed with a hardware fault. I spent over 6 hours personally diagnosing which stick was bad -- removing, reseating, and running individual memory tests -- because they wouldn't ship a replacement without proof. When I asked for a 32GB upgrade to compensate for my time, they refused, calling it "just remote troubleshooting support." The replacement RAM took over a week and multiple follow-ups just to ship, and arrived in a thin paper envelope with zero anti-static protection -- for parts replacing a hardware failure. To make it worse, the replacement RAM was slower than the original (a downgrade they didn't disclose or offer any compensation for). If you buy from this company, budget extra time to do their refurbishing job for them, and don't expect them to make it right when something fails.

I told the clerk, being the only employee in the store, that I needed a micro USB to USB B cable (Raspberry Pi Zero W 2 to 3D Printer). I knew they probably didn't have one. So, I'd have to cobble something with other cables. I told him I could use a USB A female to female or a Micro USB to USB A female. He picked a cable out and said here's a micro USB to USB A female. Great! Purchased for $9 plus tax. Got home, it wouldn't work. I looked at the package and noticed it said micro USB On The Go. USB OTG does not support passthrough of data. He knew exactly what I was trying to do and still offered me this cable. So, I brought it back for a return and purchased the USB A female to female connector which worked perfectly for my application. Here's where the problem started. It is clearly marked on the receipt and signage in the store that all returns are subject to an 8% restocking fee. This would have been fine had I picked out the cable and it was wrong. But the clerk picked it out, not me. He should have refunded the entire amount, but he didn't. Furthermore, they have some type of antiquated system where he had to call the owner to approve the return. He even told the owner "the customer bought the wrong cable." Of course, he didn't admit any fault. On the way out I let him know that I didn't think what he did was right, but all he did was state the return policy on the wall. When I said "but you gave me the wrong cable..." he acted like that didn't matter. I told him I would write this review, so here it is. CPU Wholesale... DO BETTER and do the right thing next time. Very dissapointed.
