When…read moreI had an internet failure last month I contacted Love IT, and was told they don't dealt with Starlink installations any more but would follow up since I was a previous client. The first sign of trouble was in getting anyone in the office to return my calls. I should have looked elsewhere right then. The technician who they sent was unfamiliar with much of the equipment, and had major problems running the new cable through the wall and attic, and then set the Starlink dish face down on my metal roof, scratching the paint (he told me to tell Starlink the damage was due to a tree falling on it.) He tore the plug off one end of the cable and spliced it back together. So no internet connection. (Starlink is sending me a new cable after I sent pictures.) Joseph contacted me and said he'd send someone else out the next day, but no one called or came by. Three attempts to contact them through the office or directly by calling/texting Joseph went unanswered. This is some of the most unprofessional behavior I've ever encountered. Which is a shame, because the first time I used them they were stellar.

Everything still worked, the case was just cracked from overuse (no, I never dropped it). I paid them $200 for the parts and labor, and the laptop looked good when they handed it back to me. Unfortunately, I brought it home and noticed that the screen wouldn't turn on. I feel stupid for not turning it on in-store, but why would I assume I needed to? I brought it back in to them the next day and told them about the issue. They kept asking if I'd dropped it. They looked it over and admitted that they must have displaced something (broken it) during the case repair. I was under the impression that they wanted to make it right, so I was flexible and forgiving. To cut a very very long story short, I ended up driving back and forth to this place a total of nine times for a variety of reasons (they ordered the wrong part, the part was "dead on arrival," they were out of office for hours at a time, etc). In the end, they told me that more expensive parts would need replacing (i.e. I might as well buy a new computer). They did not offer to fix it or refund me. I was so frustrated I just walked out. Wish I had stood my ground and at least asked for a refund on the case. TLDR: my laptop worked before they touched it, and now it doesn't. Now I'm out $200 and I'm stuck with a broken laptop. They told me it would be a few days because they had to order the part. No problem. On Saturday, I receive a voice mail from them telling me that my iPad was ready. I went on Monday morning to pick it up, and they told me that they were just starting to work on it. I told them about the voice message, and they denied it even though it came from their phone number. So, I had driven 30 miles for nothing. They said it should be ready the next day (Tuesday) and they would call me. I didn't hear from them on Tuesday, so I called them on Wednesday. They said they were not quite finished and would call me that afternoon. On Thursday, I called and they said they were working on it and would be finished by 6 that evening. I told him that I was coming to Tyler on Friday morning so I would get it then. He said he would call when he was done. On Friday, I still hadn't heard from them, so I called them again. He said to give him an hour. I told him that I felt like I was getting the run around because for three days, they had told me it would be done. He said he would call me personally within the hour. I got a call a couple of hours later telling me it was ready for pickup. I drove to Tyler and they handed me my iPad. The glass was filthy and scratched. When I told him it was scratched, he snatched it out of my hand and squirted a cleaner on it. He handed it back to me. It was clean but was still scratched. I told him that it had deep scratches on the glass that were not there when I brought it in. He said that they didn't do it. I told him that the iPad had been in a case since I bought it and was in perfect condition when I brought it in. Nevertheless, I paid and told them I was not happy. I got my iPad and left. Before I could get in my car, he came running out to tell me that the case I had probably didn't protect the glass. I happened to have my case in my car. I showed him that it was a waterproof case and totally covered my iPad. He kind of looked shocked and said that the only thing they could do was put a tempered glass on it. I declined and left. In my opinion, they aren't trustworthy and are rude.

They started price matching some online stores and revamped their store inventory and layout, things were looking brighter for the box store. Now they cancelled gamers club discounts, making them more expensive then Amazon on new releases and most other games. They have national pricing on tvs and many other products which means it is same price to buy these from most retailers, so not much drawing in people other than for those who gotta have it now. Even with that, Amazon and others are so fast with shipping, this will hurt Best Buy. While the above is more about the company in general, the local store has its own issues. Try to price match and the employees work hard to claim you can't but when I threaten to call corporate they do the right thing (I am talking about stores in their price matching policy). Finding help in the ever diminishing auto electronics section is impossible. Directv is always their pestering you to sign up for their service, annoying. Employees are not informed about what they sell, how hard is it to find employees that have interest in games, TVs, movies, computers, and electronics in general. They rearranged the store not long ago in the center area, but still same items and diminishing inventory of games. I have given Best Buy all my game purchases over the past 5 years, but now that cancelled their gamers club discount, I plan to buy from Amazon for new releases. I am sure the 3k a year in games I bought did not make them a lot of profit but I also bought many other items while in store that they will miss out on in the future as well. Hope corporate turns things around and the local store gets better help, or they may be the next business to follow Toysrus into bankruptcy.

A lot of people are wary of buy a computer in this fashion, but let me tell you once I chose what I wanted, the whole process through Discount Computer Depot was simple and easy. I could not come close to beating this price and process. The computer was pristine, and entirely easy to set and and program (which I did by myself). One problem I ran into was in loading my thousands of photos. As soon as I started loading them into the pictures folder I learned that everything automatically was "synced" with OneDrive (without their folders!). Synced is not the right word, while they were available (again, without their folders) they were no longer on my hard drive!!!! They were moved to OneDrive, which couldn't hold them all, which caused immense trouble to figure out how to get them all back the way I wanted. I've learned one thing! Never MOVE files - always COPY them. Of course this has nothing to do with Discount Computer Depot and everything to do with Microsoft trying to be efficient, and failing terribly in the process. I brought a Dell Windows 10 Pro Optiplex Desktop Computer PC Core 2 Duo 4GB 80GB WiFi I received it and it cant play a simple roblox game, says need to upgrade the graphics. I have looked over the years for a place I could get good refurbished computers at a really good price ..... I found it with Discount Computer Depot guys . I had problems finding a computer that was pretty much bugless and something I could readily use to run my CNC projects . . . . . These guys had a bunch of the Dell Optiplex models that fit my needs . . . . . . . . I had a bit of a problem , I thought, during the holidays, I ordered and got one without the RW drive ...... NO Problem , as soon as they were available I got one sent to me .... and to my surprise it was just a matter of plug and play . . . . . also found out with the Small Form Factor computers I have found my most favorite of refurbished computers ........ I have now bought 3 of them and plan to put in order this month for 2 more . . . . ... BEST FIND of ALL ..Discount Computer Depot. Of course .... Purchased another refurbished Desktop PC from Discount Computer Depot as well as a monitor. Delivery was fast, the computer works perfect. Since I needed a certain level of a graphic card (and needed to be dedicated) and the company didn't have one available for a long time, I made the mistake to buy somewhere else with all kind of problems, eventually ending up returning the item and losing money through shipping it back twice, first for repair second for return. So I was glad that Discount Computer Depot finally had what I needed and I was able to buy from my trusted source! The monitor I purchased was defect (obviously something hit then screen). I sent photos to Discount Computer Depot and they replaced the item without any problems. I strongly recommend Discount Computer Depot. This was my first experience with DCD and it was good. I bought a 27" monitor and it works great. It has some scratches on it and I don't recall that being mentioned in the ad, but I guess that's to be expected on used equipment. The price was excellent and the monitor works just fine. The 1 year warranty is a plus. The item arrived quickly and was well packaged, except that the heavy base piece was loose in the box, which might account for a scratch or two depending on how the box was handled during shipping. The box was well marked as Fragile and This Side Up. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and would buy from them again. I took off one star because I feel there should have been mention of scratches (unless I missed that) and the heavy base should have been packed better, maybe adding some bubble wrap or such so it would be loose in the box. read more

so far so good. bought a new SSD drive to replace the one that came with it and asked for the windows code. got it right away. I just hooked the system up. didn't realize it came with 2 monitors. that was a surprise. I was about to call to tell them they shipped me two, but then looked again at the description. still need to tweak the synchronization between the two, mouse doesn't move as quickly from one screen to the other, but that is probably a setting. Aside from that - everything started up fine. I set it up using the 1TB SSD that came with it, so will need to transfer everything over to the new one I purchased from a different source.. Never bought a DELL before so we'll see. I've had good luck with DCD in the past. and expect to have the same now. Good company - great prices - prompt customer servive. No complaints. read more

Ordering an expensive [for me] computer, sight unseen from a internet vendor was a bit un-nerving! However, I could not be more pleased with the quality of the product that I received and the way that it was packaged for shipment. The computer was clean and blemish free on the outside and had been thoroughly cleaned on the inside. I know this because I opened it up to install a second hard drive. The only caveat is that since I was purchasing a tower with multiple drive bays, t would have been helpful to know in advance that no HD trays would be included with the machine; knowing his would have saved me a week's worth of time. My desktop computer was ruined by a storm/power outage. Computer tech suggested I replace it with a refurbished tower from you folks which I did. When I got the unit, It was much larger than I thought it would be so I started the return procedure. Then Tim and Jared at Customer support from Discount Computer Depot called me. I'm not very knowledgeable about computer tech. So between the two of them advising me, I settled on a refurbished Lenovo Thinkcentre M75q Gen 1 Mini desktop that delivers much more ram, storage and has MS Windows installed.
