I LOVE prey! They have mezcal lime wings that are hands down my favorite and a happy hour burger for 6$ that they don't skimp on! They have many more happy hour menu options just like that. I love their IIPA that you have to try if you go. Can't wait for them to start canning. They vibes are always great and the service is always personable and on it! We stopped in here for our first visit and it was during happy hour 3-6pm. Ee are not big beer drinkers but they have a full bar. We had a margarita and a glass of wine from Happy Hour menu. Margarita on the small side but very tasty. Nine dollars for Margarita and nine dollars for the glass of wine. I had their Smash-burger $7 and the truffle fries $5 off the happy hour menu. My wife had a salad, Caesar salad made with kale off the regular menu. We enjoyed the food very much and the service was good. You can get happy hour prices either inside the bar or out on the patio. We initially wanted to sit in the bar, but the noise level was so loud we couldn't talk to each other. Came for happy hour right as they opened at 3pm. Prompt friendly greeting and lots of seating. We opted for the bar but immediately noticed the ac blowing right at my back so we swapped seats for less chill. Jesse was hustling as the host/server/bartender. He had a pleasant demeanor and was definitely skilled at multitasking! We ordered the pork belly bites, oxtail fries(why we came) and chicken wings. I really enjoyed the pork belly but my bf thought they were underdone. I think he expected a bit more crisp. The sauce and veggies with it were excellent. The oxtail fries had nice seasoning and flavor, I would wish for just a little more meat. The egg on top was cooked perfectly. The wings were ok. Too sauced for us, we would go plain next time, with sauce on the side. Overall enjoyed the food but realized everything was kind of cold. It wasn't piping hot out of the kitchen and the heavy ac cooled the dishes down quickly. Ambiance was great, tile, art and Plants!! Clean nice bathrooms also a plus. Will we back? Yes. Came here for the first time a few weeks ago, on a Friday night around 7. Our friends got there before us, put our name in and then enjoyed a drink at the bar. The place was busy but once my husband and I got there we were seated before we could order another round at the bar. I believe they only had one seltzer on tap but it was a good one so I was happy. Jesse was our waiter. He was one of our favorite bartenders at Belching Beaver so we were happily surprised to see he works here now. My husband had a good IPA and the other friend was recommended a drink with Gin, the liquor he chose. I ordered the cheeseburger and truffle fries. My husband got wings and his own truffle fries (which came in a huge bowl). Our friends ordered 3 birria tacos with consommé and an oxtail burger with truffle fries. All the food was great, we cleaned our plates. We never ran out of water or had to wait for a drink refill. I also enjoyed 2 cocktails: a Lychee Guava and a Jalisco Hot Chocolate. FINALLY! Vista has been needing a spot like this. Upscale, modern, unique, and absolutely delicious. The drink selection is 10/10 and food is incredible. The bahn mi burger is unreal and oxtail birria is full of flavor. Make sure you get the churro bread pudding dessert. WOW. Service is unmatched. Meh. Went there with my family tonight. Food came out before drinks (ordered a vodka martini and a margarita.) Table that sat and ordered 5-10 min after us got their cocktails first.. idk maybe they lost our ticket. Food was good. My baby ended up pooping at some point and I looked in all 4 of their bathrooms for a changing table and they didn't have one. Pretty sure that's against California law. Had to change him on the bathroom floor on my jacket. Super yuck and off putting for a "modern" establishment. When I asked a man that worked there if they plan on getting some... he goes "probably not." Lol love his brutal honesty. Anywho, I guess this would be a cool spot for a couple without kids but I would not mark this place as a family friendly spot. The service and food is Aweful. Waited a half hour for a cup of coffee at brunch with a very empty restaurant. The food came about an hour later for waffles and eggs! Mine immediately made stomach cramps and trip to the restroom. What was in that food? Horrible service. I would not call it a restaurant. The sound decibel level became inaudible to hear each other at the table when some tables became full. There was actually an echo in the room. I go to restaurants often. Wow. This place is a Vista hidden gem. We recently had our company holiday dinner here and it was top notch. The service was great, the owners were accommodating and the food was out of this world! They have something for everyone. Gluten free options, Vegan options, spectacular beef burgers, something for everyone. Plus tasty cocktails. The interior design of the restaurant was such a modern and cozy atmosphere. If you are looking for a great date spot or a girls cocktail hour this is the place. The size is also deceiving from the street it looks so small but inside the place is huge! And, parking is so easy with a free 2 hour parking garage right next door. They just opened in January and I hope they stick around. Not many swanky fun modern places like this in downtown Vista. I will definitely be going back again soon. read more

We had a great experience at Prey. I really enjoyed the views of the fire pits walking up to the entrance. The wait for a table on a Friday night at 8pm was less than 10 minutes and we were seated fairly quietly. Josh was a fantastic host and checked in regularly during our time at Prey. We enjoyed both dinner and dessert. We loved everything we ordered: the shrimp ceviche, the smash burger, the bahn mi burger, and the churro bread pudding. Went for happy hour, the door was open, and my wife and another woman needed to use the restroom. We entered, and a staff member, whom we have seen several times at Prey Brewing, and I recognized the member as either a manager or one of the owners. My wife said she was going to use the restroom before we sat at the bar. The employee looked at his watch and said it was 2:58 PM and that my wife and the other woman would have to wait an additional 2 minutes until 3:00 when they open. He said it was a liability issue. He then escalated and said that I could call his lawyer. A basic F-you to a customer. I told him he had a horrible business model, and we all left. So thank you, Prey Brewing, because a new restaurant opened down the street with great customer service, friendly staff, great food, and yes, we could use the restrooms. A group of us went for dinner to celebrate a birthday. I really enjoyed the food. I've never heard of ox tail fries, but I'm so glad I tried them. Absolutely delicious! Pleasantly surprised. We came for Happy Hour on a Saturday around 5:30 and the staff was so helpful getting us a table in the bar area. I love that they have a very good selection of tequila and other spirits. And their beer was quite tasty. As for the food, what a bargain on Happy Hour. We got the hot chicken sandwich ($9 but no fries), while.messy, was delicious, a smash burger, super tasty, then off Happy Hour, the Oxtail Birria burger, which my husband said was fantastic. Not here, the food was OUTSTANDING. We were a party of 7, and the staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Tried the smash burger, truffle fries and the tacos and loved them. Also had wings off the main menu and was blown away with the dry rub and large portion. Everyone enjoyed their drinks including the margaritas and paloma. I had the light lager and love the rolling price of the drinks. Nice environment in the bar, Padres game on the big screen and mix of tables and bar and window seats give you choices.
