Love this cute Pret A Manger in the Oculus. It is hidden at the end of the 2nd floor by the escalator, close to Brookfield Place. Once you get to the entrance, you will come across elevated levels of seating with cushions for your butt. If you don't prefer that then there are regular chairs and tables. There is a counter full of napkins and condiments for your own liking. There is a rack for pick up orders placed online. In my opinion, I think Pret A Manger does not have that many salad options and salads go very fast as the day winds down. I wish there were more salad options and the prices are a bit high recently, probably due to COVID. I just usually come in to get an egg and cheddar sandwich, since they look fresh and hot. They are wrapped in a plastic wrap and in the hot food selections for you to grab and go. The egg is scrambled and soft and it's somewhat cheesy. Cannot really taste the cheese. The egg is kind of bland without any seasoning. The bread is not really consistent in softness. Sometimes ranging from soft and then hard to bite off. Overall, I wish Pret A Manger didn't lose their light and dark roast coffee where you can do self serve. Now they don't have that option and you have to order coffee at the counter. read more

This Pret is older and hardly has any seating. The seating area looks dirty and old but the food is still just as good as any other Pret I'd been to. Neat location inside the mall, but wish the restaraunt was nicer. Service was okay but a good lunch stop overall. read more

Pret A Manager location is perfect for me; it's right in my office building, but it's on the balcony area of the Oculus. I pass it every single morning and the temptation is real. I only get the egg salad and bacon (less the 300 calories) or the avocado with egg salad for breakfast. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING (smacking my lips) - it is amazingly delish. I can't talk about the pastries, mac and cheese, soup or coffees. I ONLY do those two joys. However, the service is ever changing. They have 6 employees and a manager behind the register, but the line is still long in the morning or customers, like myself, are confused as to who is ringing up. This location is directly adjacent to the entrance to One World Trade within the Oculus, or Westfield, or whatever is popular to call this transit hub this week. The staff is always pretty friendly in here. I've not gotten any short tempered or moody workers in any of my experiences here. They do a good job at keeping the food stocked on the shelves at all times of day. I've never gone in and seen anything less than at least 3 options of the item that I'm considering purchase. I'm also a sucker for their baked goods, the muffins and croissants are "delightful" (I have to use that word when describing delicious and dainty) foods. The fresh orange juice is everything although it costs too much. If I cared to buy 3 oranges and press them myself, I promise I wouldn't purchase theirs, but since I don't....yeah. read more

For $8 i could've gotten a great salad somewhere, or chipotle, or chicken biryani, a better sandwich from eataly or Whole Foods, or sushi from Wasabi. My go to Pret as it is directly under my office. The staff is extremely fast and friendly. They have a morning rush as expected but they're fast and get the coffee orders out quickly. I love Pret's food, especially their lentil soup and turkey chili so this is super convenient. Their wraps are good for in a pinch as well. I tried the pumpkin spice latte with no whip and it was delicious. They use pure pumpkin purée so no syrup which I stay away from. This is a standard Pret like you find all over the city. However, this location comes with the addition of lots of people who: 1) cannot figure out how to order; 2) only pay in cash, wampam and/or bits of string (and then like to count each of their pennies and string at the cash register after paying while making other customers wait); or 3) have never seen a fast casual concept in their lives. This location would be greatly improved if it regularly had the Moroccan Lentil Soup (it's clearly popular but supply has yet to catch up with demand) and had a separate line for people paying with a card/that have their lives together. It's no fun spending your entire lunch hour behind a people who insist on paying with rolls of pennies, after having a lengthy discussion with the cashier on the merits of getting the chocolate chip cookie vs. the harvest cookie vs. the almond croissant, only to decide they have never seen a turkey chili before and simply must know the name of the farm where the turkey came from, all while people wait behind them in line, food in hand. The entire point of Pret is the fast ease with which a customer can get lunch. A separate line for those who are ready to pay (and not solve world peace at the cash register) and better crowd management in the store would vastly improve the experience. I'll still begrudgingly return until a faster, more efficient business is able to manage the less than thoughtful people that clog up the process for those of us looking for a quick bite (see, sweetgreen's/dig inn's/et al. online order and pickup method). read more

i just stepped into Pret today, ordered a iced latte and ONE OF THE EMPLOYEE LICKED HIS FINGER AND TOUCHED MY COFFEE!! I saw him putting syrup in and said its sticky and licked his left hand... I'm really torn about how to rate this location because it's a step away from my office, most of the baristas are very friendly, and the service is quick. However when it comes to the coffee, there is significant variation in pricing and quality. I order an iced latte every day but I am frequently charged different amounts. A few times when I have tried to highlight this kindly, I've been told I ordered a different size or drink. Also on occasion I've been given a 12 oz when I ordered a 16 oz and I've seen a barista pour out the drink and thin it out by adding milk. It's a hit or miss quite frankly due to inconsistent service that makes me question if I should keep coming here as my regular coffee spot. read more

I love getting their balanced lunch meals, I usually get the chicken and sweet potato but tried the veggie option - the cauliflower and falafel with tahini dressing and it was just as delicious! I come to this Pret A Manger quite often when I'm inside the Oculus or on my way to Brookfield Place. It's quite small, not too much seating and super busy in the morning and on weekends. The staff here are friendly and helpful as well. I haven't tried any of their foods really or drinks except for their iced coffee and almond croissant. Their almond croissant is unbelievably delicious! It's buttery, soft, and full of almond goodness. I'm not a huge fan of croissants, but this was exceptional! I will definitely get this next time I go to Pret A Manger. Their iced coffee is surprisingly good and strong. There's nothing like sipping on a black, strong iced coffee at the moment you need a coffee IV. It really hits you hard. You'll feel energized in minutes. Overall, a good spot to stop in and rest or grab some snack/lunch. There's a lot of places to sit and enjoy food or coffee inside the Oculus/Brookfield, but I enjoy the vibe at Pret A Manger a lot. read more

I really like this place!! Their hot wraps are really good. Cappuccino is exceptionally great. Their chocolate hazelnut croissant is to die for. And their chocolates are great too. Horrible. Staffs sweeping around the cashier, made it hard to order. Ordered hot coffee, but came cold as mid winter. When using the bathroom staff member just unlocked the door with their key and came in (didn't even ask or knock first). What is up with that? Even bathroom was disgusting. If i can give a negative star i would. I attempted to buy a latte and a pastry this morning, unfortunately with a cashier that was not only rude but clearly hated his life/job. I asked if they have a specific pastry since i didn't see it right in front of me, he charged me for it and the latte but never answered my question, just sat there with his blank stare looking all annoyed, as if I asked for something so out of the ordinary and out of place. I asked him again, and he answered with, "this is what we have, I can't decide for you what you want". So i told him to cancel my order and i walked out. I will never go back there again. I can only rate this place for its salad and tangerine juice which are the only two things I ever order here! The salads are very nice I love the ones with tofu sweet potatoes quinoa and red beet hummus my favorite one! I found it always to be fresh and never had a problem. This place has problems. We're from California visiting the World Trade Center on Wednesday July 8th. We stopped here to buy bottle water. First issue was the person at the register not telling me that I'm suppose to get the water myself. After paying for it I stood there waiting for him to give it to me. When I asked him where is my bottle water, he said that my wife already grab it. But my wife didn't have it. He then pointed at my son that he took it. But my son didn't have it either. What was so upsetting was him accusing us that we already took it. Why didn't he just tell us that we needed to grab it ourselves rather him accusing us. The second issue was the manager didn't come to calm the commotion already happening in front of him. He only came to accommodate us when we were leaving. He could have diffuse the situation. He even admitted it to us that he saw what happened. But why didn't he interfere when it was happening in front of him rather than when we were leaving? I'm giving it one star although it doesn't deserve one because the person at the register didn't know how to give instructions and the manager didn't know how to handle it. By far the worst customer service we experienced in New York City. Malik, the person at the register and Joseph the manager needs training on customer service. In fact, everyone working there needs customer service training because there were two or three other people working the registers and none of them at the time had customers and did nothing to help. read more

This location has gone downhill over the past few months. The employees are sloppily dressed, the soup cups are usually only two-thirds full, and the shelves often begin to go empty around 1:00pm. It's a similar story at nearby locations, too. read more

This location needs to manage their employees and their store better. All of the employees are more interested in dancing to the music and socializing with each other than they are with doing their jobs and servicing their customers. The coffee is frequently empty during the morning rush as are the creamers and milk. Customers don't have time to wait during this time so they will choose to go elsewhere. In addition, there is often only 1 person working the registers during the morning rush while others are standing around looking at the long line of people waiting to pay. I went in on Friday, and there were no small cups and barely any large coffee cups left and ALL of the milk containers were empty. There was no one around to help or notice the situation so I set my cup down and walked out. I don't have the time to deal with such incompetence at 8am. I won't be back. Get your act together Pret or you will soon meet your demise in the uber competitive NYC market. read more
