I come here for compounding medication. First they lost my prescription and I had to have my physician resend. I called them last week and pharmacist #1 said in order for the medication to be covered by insurance I had to wait about a week. He promises it would be ready on Thursday for me to pickup. I give them a call Friday in the morning to see if its ready. This pharmacist #2 has no idea what I'm talking about but promises to have it ready in 30mins. As extra precaution I show up 1.5 hrs later only to hear from pharmacist #3 that he can't find it. I explain my growing frustration at the back and forth (in a calm, matter of fact way) and ask them to please look again, only to get a rude uncalled for response of "Well I don't know what to tell you" and a hard stare. I recognize this pharmacist and let me tell you he's the worst. It's a male on the taller side, larger size with darker skin tone. Always snarking on customers with inappropriate comments and rude behavior, it is clear he's an individual with no sense of self control who internally enjoys putting down people. I've witnessed him disrespect multiple customers including myself over and over. I've overlooked it many times but others need to know. Everytime I see him at the counter I internally cringe because he always makes even the simplest transactions a dreadful experience. Why this establishment continues to let him drag their reputation in the dirt is beyond me. As I step aside and wait for them to resolve my missing medication, I see this same male pharmacist harass an elderly lady with mean attitude and unhelpful comments to the point where she has to raise her voice and say in her own words that "you're absolutely crazy!" and get another staff member to help her. As soon as the other staff steps in, whatever problem was at hand is resolved in less than 5 mins. This elderly lady also asked for his name and I believe he responds smugly "Jonathan". Who knows if this outrageous man is even saying his real name. It's clear he has no concept of customer service and proper behavior so I wouldn't put it past him to lie about his name either. I continually observe him give himself a self-satisfied smile after delivering his verbal jabs. It's clear to me this type of disrespectful behavior is considered normal in his eyes. I can only assume no proper discipline has been given by his superiors to motivate him to stop. But then again for someone to enjoy acting this way has got to be a personality defect that's beyond correction. As someone who's worked in and still works in an industry where friendly/helpful customer interaction is valued, I find this unforgivable. I will ask friends for a different compounding pharm just to get away from this ridiculous person they employ. I don't deserve to be put down and talked down to whenever I try to fill a medication. And neither does the eldery lady. I feel bad she had to be subjected to that kind of abusive treatment. Owner of this business, if you're reading this, take note. This particular employee of yours will continue to drive away customers and unrepentantly wreck your reputation. Morale must be low for other hardworking staff to have to work alongside this kind of sh***y person. read more

People should be alert to the fact that Preston's Pharmacy on Lee Highway is charging $60 for an Abbot Coviid -19 antigen self-test, as compared to CVS which charges $24. I called and asked Preston's if there was a mistake in their pricing and was told that indeed $60 is correct. Outrageous! read more

Beware - Preston's is price gouging for COVID tests. I booked online for a COVID test at Preston's. The hidden, NON-reimbursable "administrative" fee charged by Preston's for "processing" the COVID 19 test was $350. Information about any administrative fee is very unclear (intentionally?) and generally written in fine print and in areas that require hovering over. As COVID tests are supposed to be free, it wasn't until I spoke with my insurance company (before the test) that I was alerted to the price gouging going on at Preston's and that the $350 was not reimbursable. After realizing the price gouging, I called Preston's to see if I could change my appointment to one of the lower cost appointments. I was told that even if there were slots, the $350 was non-refundable and that this policy was in the "disclaimers". Only after insisting and once I mentioned that I would complain to the Better Business Bureau did Preston's consider allowing me to shift down to a less expensive time slot, but only to a $200 non-refundable slot. I am truly shocked and surprised at a community store like this so clearly taking advantage of the COVID situation and bilking the community. I will report Preston's to the BBB. read more

Are generally nice and are competent filling prescriptions correctly. Only things that frustrate me: you have to request every time if you would like your prescription to be delivered - there doesn't seem to be a way to make it a standard request; also, you can request via the website or automated phone line for them to contact your doctor's office if your Rx needs a refill, however if they (say they) do so but then do not get a response from the doctor, they will just let it drop and not bother to inform you or contact your doctor's office again, until you call them back and ask them to do so. This has happened several times to me now, and obviously further delays getting your medication. They do perform a needed service for the area, however, and I am grateful for that. read more

I ordered a 2-day Covid test for travel, at the cost of $50, WITH insurance (Preston's requires a picture of the insurance card). They get two stars because they did in fact get the results back to me in just over 48 hours as promised (not a great turnaround time, in comparison with free tests I've had elsewhere), and the certificate was suitable for travel, with all the necessary information. On the minus side, this was the first deep swab I've ever had that was actually painful. The woman who performed the swab was brutal -- I've had at least 30 PCR tests for work and travel, and they've never bothered me, but this time blood gushed out of my nose afterwards. Started going here again, because they carry medications that other pharmacies do not and file TRICARE which others do not. There is one woman who works there, however, who can be extremely rude to her customers. I overheard an arguement she had with another patron about the size of a medical device, which was over-the-top. Then a few weeks later, I showed up five mins past closing time and begged her to let me pick up my daughter's prescription. She did--which I appreciated--but she was visubly angry and exceptionally rude about it. read more

As a new mom one of the hardest things to do is to go somewhere with your newborn. Enter Preston's. Not only was the staff knowledgeable, the pharmacist was able to recommend products a new mom would need in her arsenal. After my doctor sent in the prescriptions that I asked for based off of the recommendations, Preston's compounded and MAILED me my meds at no extra charge! The speed and convenience of it all lightened my load. But let me tell you about the products! Greer's goo was recommended as a diaper rash treatment. I thought I had it covered; I had already purchased triple paste and Boudreaux butt paste prior to giving birth. I have religious applied it with every diaper change. But low and behold baby developed a rash complete with little pimples on her buttocks anyways. One application of the Greer's and it's gone. Not even residual redness. I am so grateful that the pharmacist had recommended me to get this product to have on hand as a just in case because it saved me last night. Where would I have been at midnight with no pediatrician and not many open pharmacies? Preston's has won my heart and loyalty with their service and their professionalism. read more

I have to give 5 stars to Preston's Pharmacy. Maybe it's just because I've never used a private pharmacy before and I'm more accustomed to being one of the masses ushered by the over-worked pharmacists at CVS, Rite Aid, etc. I'll never go back to those chain stores again after having my prescriptions filled at Preston's. The actual pharmacy is in the back of a neat, clean, well lit gift store. The staff members are friendly and patient while they take your information and insurance info before your first fill. Once you're a regular, they will autofill and then call you when it's ready to pick up. If you don't come by for a few days, they call again to be sure you got the message - but they aren't annoying about it. No automated calls from here. You get a live person every time you call. And they don't seem angry or stressed out. The pharmacists are very knowledgeable and friendly. I had to ask a few questions about a medication and pharmacist actually spent over 5 minutes explaining the details to me. The gift store is great, too. If you're waiting for your RX you'll have no trouble browsing the isles. I actually go out of my way to pick up nice hostess gifts here. There's also a great card selection, and the usual over-the-counter medication isle. read more

I love Preston's Pharmacy. I injured my back and needed a brace, bio-freeze and a heating pad.. they had all of those things. A sweet person from the Pharmacy even measured me and helped me pick out the right back brace and showed me how to use it. (you don't get that at a major chain). My grandmother was visiting town. I wanted to rent a wheel chair to take her to see the monuments. After a quick internet search I wasn't having any luck. I thought Preston's will know who to call. So I called to ask them who to call.. and they RENT wheelchairs. I thought it would be really expensive but it's only 55 dollars for the week. Perfect.. I can take grandma around the monuments now.. :) They have a cute gift section too - if you need a birthday present or small gift for someone they are sure to have something there. It may be a bit more expensive than a chain. But I think it's worth it to have superior service and support a great local business! Thanks Prestons! read more

Preston's was my pharmacy. I thought it as the but lately it as been a nightmare. For the last six months it's one thing after the next. My insurance,or the pill count. They have or don't have it. And all seems to come from this one person. Gave her my prescription for 90 pills she come back with 17 pills . Or come back in a week. Or the time she made me spend ,100.00 for something my Insurance had already paid for. have been in Arlington for 66 years. Going to Preston's for five years. Preston's has that old time feeling with out the B's. But things change. Will be telling my family and friends to send there money else where. As if it weren't bad enough that I had to watch my wife transform from being solely my bedroom partner to being a mother, I had to go find a breast pump to get the milk flowing so the kid didn't starve. After calling the first few locations that were closer to my house on the Medela website, I called Preston's Pharmacy to see if they had any pumps. George answered the phone and saved my day by telling me that while he wasn't allowed to reserve a pump for someone over the phone, he would take it off of the shelf for the 20 minutes I said it would take for me to get there. For $80 a month, I could keep the pump at home and let my wife pump to the baby's delight. The store itself reminded me of a more personalized pharmacy experience where you're actually able to talk to the pharmacists and had more of a variety of sundries to shop from rather than the attempts of the larger chain stores to become Wal-Mart Superstores (Groceries and wine in a drug store? Really?) It's a bit of a haul for me to get to, but if I could find something like that in McLean, I would completely be there. read more

Do not come to Preston's Pharmacy if you have health insurance coverage. Many major health insurance providers provide full coverage of the cost of COVID testing at other sites, however the $35 fee which Preston's Pharmacy collects is an "administrative" fee and cannot be billed to insurance. Additionally, the $200/$350 fee for the expedited tests is also an administrative fee, not a lab fee, that insurance companies will not cover, and you have to pay out of pocket. You can get tested elsewhere and get results same day where your insurance will cover the full cost, and will NOT have to pay any type of fee. Just don't get your COVID testing done here if you have insurance coverage. read more

On line only but this is the only method to protect information and allow for so many people to be tested every day. I compliment the staff doing the work and the Lab handling the processing. I needed to get a next day test for traveling purposes and chose Prestons. The process was easy and didn't require a doctors note. During tough times I'm sure it can be very stressful for healthcare workers to be exposing themselves to potential COVID-19 risks. The staff was friendly, nice, and answered all the questions I had. Seems like many people think that the concierge tests should be free and covered by insurance but that would only be for the regular test (3-5 day results). Overall I am pleased with the service and think it is worth the cost to receive immediate 100% accurate results. read more

I would like to start off this review by stating that this is the first low-rated review I've ever given on ANY review site, whether it be Yelp, Trip Advisor, etc. Therefore, me giving Preston's a 1 star should tell you there's a problem. What I'm about to write is long, but PLEASE read it before doing business with these folks. I take a semi-rare form of medication. My husband and I (who are from a totally different part of Virginia) went to the DC-NOVA area to attend a concert. About 1 or 2 days before the concert I saw my doctor, but hadn't filled my rx yet for the month (which is very common; most people with chronic conditions don't always have to fill their rx's on the exact day they receive the rx). Anyways, right after my husband and I attended the concert he all of a sudden became VERY ill which caused him to go into ICU for several days. Not only was I startled from my husband being in the ICU (for the most part we're both pretty healthy millennials), but I knew NOTHING of the area. So when my rx ran out I called one of the closest places on Google Maps to the hospital- Preston's. When I called, I spoke with a man named Muhammad. He sounded a bit stand-offish on the phone, but I didn't care because they had the prescription I needed, they accepted my prescription card, and were listed as being close by. He also said my prescription wouldn't be a problem to fill because it was given in Virginia and I live in the state of Virginia. The location of the pharmacy itself was great- only a few moments away. However, when I went to the pharmacy, even though I had told Muhammad my story on the phone just 15 minutes prior, he all of a sudden acted like he didn't remember it (even though he very specifically stated that he remembered our phone conversation when I walked in). So here's where things got awkward: I handed Muhammad my rx and he took it to the pharmacist. Upon his first return he said "Yeah, we're going to have to take a look into this. It's going to be awhile." This puzzled me because this is a monthly medication I have been on for years and have never had issues with it being filled. Next, and I don't know if this came from him or if it was puppeted via the pharmacist, but he came back and started asking questions with an almost interrogating tone. "Why are you here again?!" and "If you got sick in your town how come you're even filling these here?!" were some of the questions asked. I was rather baffled, and responded "Uh, do you not remember our phone conversation OR the conversation we had at the register? I came to town for a concert, my husband got sick and is in the ICU, and since I am stuck here in Arlington I am filling my rx here because I need it. I'm also not 'sick'- this is a regular med of mine. Please feel free to call my doctor if there are any questions." This went back and forth for well over a half an hour. During this time I wandered the store. At first I was excited to come to a little local store like this because I figured they would have neat little gifts or unique items like the infamous one in my hometown. But unless you are looking for generic Burt's Bee's Lip Balm or Diabetic panty hose (they have a whole wall full of them!) you will not find much of interest here. I am finally summoned back to the pharmacy, but not before being told this: "We'll fill it this time, but we won't fill this for you again." I DO NOT LIVE IN NOVA. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A DAY TRIP.... SEVERAL DAYS AGO! MY HUSBAND FELL ILL HERE. HECK, I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN TO THIS DC AREA BEFORE BESIDES ANOTHER CONCERT AND A COUPLE OF SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS AS A CHILD! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF ME COMING BACK?! I didn't say that word for word because I was too shy and almost teary-eyed, but I definitely thought it. To add insult to injury, they (possibly purposefully?) tried to forget about my prescription card. I showed it to them again, and they STILL came back with a price higher than it was supposed to be. I was so upset at this point that I just let them rip me off and left. The only saving grace was the young lady at the pharmacy counter. She told me what the pharmacist/Muhammad said was nothing personal- it's just because I'm from out of town. That still doesn't make sense, though, because 1. Muhammad himself said my rx would be fine because I'm from in state. 2. I travel for work sometimes and have gotten my rx's filled elsewhere with no issues. I don't know... I had been stuck in the ICU for days caring for my husband and looked absolutely wretched. Maybe THAT'S why they treated me the way they did. It also could be that the pharmacist was ignorant about what my prescription does and why i take it (I'm not saying "ignorant" to be mean- I just mean that maybe the school they went to didn't properly train them on this class of medications). TL;DR- Unless you want to be treated poorly for being an out-of-towner or get ripped off I would suggest staying far away from this place. read more

Hands down my favorite pharmacy. Not only is the staff kind, welcoming, and informative but the store is filled with everything you could possibly need. From getting shots to picking up shampoo, prestons is ideal. An added bonus is there seamless covid testing. Scheduling online and not having to get out of the car upon arrival in unmatched.
