I moved to Falls Church in 2011, about a mile from the Safeway at 7397 Lee Highway. I selected the pharmacy for convenience. From the start, I had problems with my prescriptions. My doctor sends my prescriptions online instead of using paper. Instead of getting a 90 day supply with 3 refills, I was getting a 30 day supply with 3 refills. I was upset with my doctor over this, so the next time I needed medical attention I went to a different doctor. I was surprised that the very same thing happened. I called the doctor's office and was told that they sent the correct prescription to the pharmacy. My doctor personally called the pharmacy and that fixed the problem in that instance. I asked the pharmacist about my prior prescriptions and found that that problem, too, was the fault of the pharmacy. They also signed me up for automatic refills on all my prescriptions without asking me, so I received automated calls at different times for different things. This was no way to manage prescriptions.
Recently I received an automated call that told me I had a prescription waiting. When I got there, the pharmacist told me that they did not have the medicine. It would need to be ordered. Why didn't someone call me and tell me that instead of making me come in to get something they did not have?
Despite all of that, I had planned to run out my existing prescriptions at this pharmacy and use a different pharmacy next year. What happened next changed my mind. I received another automated call that I had a prescription waiting. I was not expecting this, so I spoke with a pharmacist who told me that my doctor had called in a refill on a prescription for which I had no refills. I was surprised at this, since I had not requested it and did not need it, but since it had been called in by my doctor, I paid for it anyway. The following month, the very same thing happened! This time I explained to the pharmacy that I did not understand this and that I would call my doctor to find out what is going on. The pharmacist told me that there was no need to call my doctor. She said that their "computer automatically calls for refills sometimes when you have no refills left." What? You call my doctor asking for refills that I don't need and make me pay for them? That's got to be illegal! Never again will I set foot in that store. read more
